This is a super place to stay. It's right on the water, in a quirky, historic building. The bedrooms are simple but comfortable, and the staff are friendly. We stayed as a family group (4 rooms) fol... See more

Super tranquil

Super tranquil are, we were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the water with a balcony which was just perfect. Staff were excellent, especially Anna who welcomed us. Unfortunately we had to leave before the 08;30 breakfast and it's worth noting that the nearest pub closes at lunchtime for Mondays and Tuesdays. Also parking is not possible onsite, but there's a good public car park a short walk away

So so beautiful

So so beautiful, what a wonderful place to stay. Perfect room and just sitting harbourside with a drink, watching the sunset, was absolute perfection. Great mini ferry across the water and lovely coastal walks and rides. Just what we needed to reset. Amazing staff, helpful and efficient, especially Anna who was very kind and helpful with our booking.

Rally at Itchenor Sailing Club

We held a Yacht Club Rally at the Sailing Club in April. The club organised a very good evening meal for us and also breakfasts the next morning. A few of our members stayed overnight in the club. It was all excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive both in the organisation and on the weekend itself. Well done.

Lovely rooms at Itchenor sailing club

We stayed at Itchenor Sailing Club for 2 nights end May 2025.
The room was very nicely and simply decorated- all white with a lovely blind and a nautical theme. Lovely and light. The double bed was very comfortable, and was a standard 4ft 6 size.
The shower was lovely.
If needed there is also a hairdryer.
No fridge in the room, which was fine. Very good storage cupboard.
I would definitely stay again and highly recommend the rooms.
Beautiful location and lovely views of the river from the room.
The breakfast was also very good.

Nice but needs some TLC

It’s all a bit tired and in need of tlc!
The staff were lovely. It’s very clean.
But just old and the shared bathroom and toilet through Two doors in the middle of the night was a pain. Especially at a price as high as a premier inn.
Food was good, hearty fare.

We arrived on foot

We arrived on foot, by ferry from Bosham.. it was the most perfect way I have ever approached accommodation.. stepping off the dock :-) Check in was easy, accommodation simple and clean. Fresh, delicious water. No problems accessing or using shared bathroom, again clean. Option to order dinner in advance with the sailors..
thank you

Really comfortable

Really comfortable, clean room with lovely bedding and an en suite bathroom with shower. Good view of the harbour. Be careful going up the stairs as they are quite steep. Recommend a stay here. It's in a fabulous location

It's probably lovely during the summer, but.....

...but a stay at an Itchenor Sailing Club room during the winter was a very poor experience for us.

We were visiting Chichester for a couple of days for my wife's birthday. It was winter (2 degrees C), cold & windy. The place looked nice, if somewhat small and no TV, but that's fine it was my choice. Unusually, it specifically mentioned it had heating, so I thought, "Great, they've thought about the weather, no problem".

The room was clean & fresh and a nice outlook. However there were only 3 tea bags and they were stained and stuck to the bottom of the caddy. Also the glasses were dirty. I walked back to the office and the gentleman agreed it was not good and apologised. A nice lady brought clean items back to our room a few minutes later, fine.

The wood-framed windows leaked air badly, so the freezing wind outside was blowing jets of icy air into the room, and the heating wasn't on. As I recall, there was a 2hr window required for arrival, so they knew when we would be arriving, so why wasn't the heating on? I walked back to the office again and the nice lady explained they were trying to conserve energy. I support the sentiment, but what's the point of having heating (and advertising as such) yet it's not on when specifically needed?? The lady 'boosted' the boiler and we were warm within 10mins or so.

Later we went out and upon returning showered for bed. At that point we discovered there is no heating facility whatsoever in the shower room. It too had a very leaky window, so when wet, or sitting 'pondering life', we absolutely froze in the 2 degrees jets of air coming through the window (it was blowing the window blinds around in both rooms). We got into bed and cuddled up under the summer duvet to keep warm (because the heating wasn't on again!) and finally drifted off.

I awoke due to the cold around 4am(?) to find my wife fully clothed sitting on the edge of the bed. "I've been up since 3am. I've booked a room at the local Premier Inn for tonight, we're not staying here another night!", the birthday girl exclaimed. I got up, got fully dressed (socks, trousers, jumper, the lot), and then got back under the duvet. To my knowledge there was no one around in the small hours, so no chance of getting the heating turned on.

At around 6am (both still awake) I got out of bed and put my winter overcoat on to keep warm and sat on the bed. We agreed enough was enough, packed and tramped back to the car park around 7am(?). That night in the Premier Inn we had a nice room, warm and cosy with a TV and slept soundly.

I imagine in the warm weather this is a nice little place to use as a base, and the team in the office were pleasant & helpful within the bounds of their operating hours.
However, frankly, if you're thinking of staying in the area during cold weather, I suggest you avoid it like the plague, ++ it is not fit for purpose ++ in that situation, and it wasted my money. Shame :0(

avoid

Hosts: Non existent from booking in up to leaving, you have to call the phone number to ask for anything. No phone provided though, you have to use your own.
Facilities: Booked a room with a shared bathroom, not ideal but needs must. There was no information or directions to find the bathroom, had to call the number to find out where it was. Shared bathroom door did not close properly, had to really force it shut to be able to lock it, blind was missing on the window where the shower was and the hot tap was not secure (spun round). No Lamp in the bedroom, woke in the night and had to use my phone torch to find the light switch. The website states they provide coffee making facilities, well for the 1st night maybe, I stayed 2 nights and when I returned from a long day at work, on day 2 I found the water to fill the kettle had not been refilled, I could not refill it myself without a mile trek to the bathroom even the, the bottle would not fit under the tap and cups had been left unwashed. Again could not wash them myself because (a) the water had not been filled and (2) its a mile trek to the bathroom (another call just to have a coffee).
Cleanliness: Old tin jar and drinks tray left on the shared balcony, considering it is a shared balcony there are not privacy nets or blinds, have to draw the curtains, the chair in room was filthy, stain upon stain upon stain. I would not let a dog sit on it. Disgusting.

A lovely evening

My boyfriend and I had a lovely night at the sailing club for his birthday weekend getaway. There was a warm welcome, lovely atmosphere, friendly members, and great view from our room.
