Concerned Reading

Thought it's been a while I came to the website to look at products to purchase for this holiday season. I placed an order with this business just before covid, had no issues, items received in a timely manner, in great condition, and most are still being used. I am very surprised at the number of negative reviews, since I DO pay attention to reviews. I was considering reordering a few past items but now I'm a bit anxious to do so.

This company is a total scam

This company is a total scam, I ordered a Christmas Figurine on December 17, 2024, it never showed, I sent this so-called company at least three separate responses, And each time, stated it is either on backorder or it was due to the ongoing tariffs and stuck at US customs, I even asked for my money back and got no response, as far as I concerned, these individual(s) are nothing more than thieve(s), And this is one of the reasons why Black businesses are NOT supported is because of these individuals not being trust worthy. And, to add insult to injury, I went to the website (7-29-2025) and It sent me directly to a new site called African American Gift Guides and I pray that it is not the same individuals running this site as well. Update: I went to the African American Gift Guides and found that it is the same individuals running it. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SO-CALLED RETAILER!!!!!!!!

It’s A Total Ripoff Thang

I will never order anything online again without checking Trustpilot first. If I had done that in this case, I would not have wasted time with this so-called merchant. Item I ordered was never delivered. I called them multiple times to ask about my order and the guy kept making excuses for why the order hadn’t been fulfilled. Then I requested a refund that never materialized. He said it was processed but couldn’t provide proof. I finally reported them to my financial institution. Based on the reviews here, this “business” should be shut down. At the end of the day, when you repeatedly take people’s money and don’t deliver the product or refund their money, that is theft and someone needs to be held accountable. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this “merchant.”

This company took my money and never…

This company took my money and never sent the product. They finally returned an email after 3 months that the size was out of stock. I asked for a different size or style and a year later after more than 15 attempts they just kept my money. I am not sure they really sale anything

First and Last time dealing w/ "It's A Black Thang.com

First time dealing with "It's A Black Thang.com". So far, a VERY BAD and ANNOYING experience! I regret that I did not research prior reviews BEFORE I placed an order! This "company" appears to run on "AI" remote "control". They don't respond to emails and online inquiries. They don't answer or return telephone calls. They "promised" online to process orders quickly, "fulfill" and ship the order quickly, with USPS delivery of the order within 7-10 days. All false claims and representations. However, they demand payment at the time of the order and take IMMEDIATE payment in full (including shipping service fee) from PayPal. Such a CROCK!

Never Received the Merchandise

Place an order on July 19, 2023 and was charged for the merchandise. The merchandise is still listed on the site. I sent them a message on August 12, 2023, by the email provided on their website with no response and no merchandise it is now August 18,2023

NO ORDER FROM ME!! RUN!!! …

I actually have NOT placed an order yet, I have items, as I type, in my cart on their site, but bc I've never ordered from the co. before, thought I'd better check the reviews and I'm GLAD I did!

Seems they are challenged with order fulfillments, refunds, responses to customers, and overall service quality. Think I'll look somewhere else.

Sad bc being AA, I pride myself in supporting Black businesses. I also found it off-putting that their responses were mostly in defense of their lack of action and/or "just shipped yesterday" type comments here and on BBB. Gonna empty my cart and run.

Take these 3 stars!! They're free of charge.

Great selection

Great selection, and beautiful pieces. Just got our first order in the mail yesterday and I was very happy with how it was wrapped. The items were in perfect condition and outside boxes clearly marked.

When I called and talked with the customer service person he was awesome, very helpful and nice.

Non-existent customer service

Think twice before ordering from this company. I placed an order on December 16th and have yet to receive shipping advice or a reply to my emails. Customer service is non-existent!

I have ordered several things over…

I have ordered several things over several years with this company and everything that I've ordered was outstanding the service was also very good I have a personal relationship because I called to check on things and spoke to him about my orders and everything was great the products are fantastic. I've never had a problem with the product or customer service.

I have purchased from this company for many years,don't blame them for the covid…

I have purchased from this company for about 15 years or more.I have never had a problem.I have always received my merchandise.I noticed it took exceptionally long for me to receive my order recently.After waiting for six weeks I phoned.A gentle man told me that due to the covid it was taking him longer to get merchandise ,but my order was on its way soon.Sure enough a week later it arrived.Many businesses are closing because of covid,I hope this is not one of them.

Horrible Experience with Lack of communication and lack of ownership

On May 1st 2020 I placed an order for the special ladies in my life for Mother's Day. Spoke to the guy who answer the phone and was told that it's won't be arriving that day but later with a week or two. I was okay with that because I had to be understanding with Covid-19. So I received those items about that time that was told to me. But had to call them back because it was a item that said it was to be shipped separately. I waited and waited from that order never came now it's the second week of June. I sent two emails as well as left a few voicemails. None which never got responded to on their end. So at this point it's now The last week of June like the 30th. I called back and now I'm talking to the same person who answered the phone before. Tell him what's going on, how I've been calling and how I've been emailing and no one getting back to me. Then I ask where is my item. He states that they have yet to receive the cup in their department so I tell him well can you send me something else equivalent to the price I paid which was only $12 but here's where the lack of communication and why I'll NEVER BE ORDERING OR LETTING ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS COMPANY. Today is July 10th, I just opened the package and long and behold is the cup I've been trying to get since May!!!!!!!! SMH SMH SMH. I called him back today like I've been waiting all this time for this cup and you say you didn't have it, yet you mail me the exact cup I needed. His remark was I just so happened to come in when you called. Then tried to go on and on about why would he lie and etc. I'M SO GLAD I DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM ANY LONGER. I try to support my people and then it's stuff like this. Beautiful products but you can't have bad/ugly customer service with it!

I’d give zero if I could

I’d give zero if I could. Against my better judgment, I didn’t practice due diligence. I felt guilty about scrutinizing a black-owned company when I know I wouldn’t for other online retailers. It wasn’t until I lodged my own complaint with the BBB that I found several similar complaints about this “business”. My complaint is below:

Consumer's Original Complaint :
The product was never received, nor was a refund issued.
I placed an order (#38659) on 4/28/20. The product was supposed to ship 2-3 days after the order date. I contacted customer service after the 6th day as my order still appeared unfulfilled the website. I received an email response 8 days later indicating staffing shortage and shipping delays due to coronavirus. I waited an additional week before requesting a refund as I found the products from a different vendor. I received another email 8 days later confirming that my order would be cancelled and a refund issued. It was 10 more days of waiting before I reached out for the status of my refund (5/30/20). My order is still open and unfulfilled on the website. I have not received the products or a refund. I'm unable to reach anyone by phone, and my last email remains unanswered (11 days and counting). I can understand the staffing shortages and shipping delays, but the lack of customer service is shameful. My request for a refund was submitted on 5/12/20 (2 days shy of a month). There is no staffing shortage that could cause such a long wait for a refund. My payment was processed via PayPal. The refund can be issued in a few clicks of a button. That doesn't require a full staff to do. The customer service is poor; and that's a shame.

...and still no refund.

I ordered a product overseas last year…

I ordered a product overseas last year November. I did not hear back after January saying that the item is out of stock and I will be receiving a refund. Up untill this day I still have not received my money. Several emails I've sent have just been ignored. I am shocked and disappointed. WARNING: DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY.

Where's my stuff!

I have ordered from this company twice but never again. I placed my order on October 22, 2019. Today is November 13th! I ordered early to send presents overseas in November thinking that their 7-10 delivery time advertised on their site was enough time, but I was wrong. I've called them several times, left messages, and sent emails. Finally I received an email on 11/11/19 saying that some of my items were delayed and I'll get them by the weekend. This was after they told me that I would get them by 11/9/19! I would have been happy to receive notification of the delay and some of the items. but it's obvious that If I hadn't called I would not have received an update. I spoke to a man there twice and his excuse is that they are a small company and that the "big guys" have more funds to operate. I just want get my items when promised and because of their issues I'm unable to send the presents as planned. In this day of Amazon and every other company shipping in a week or less, this is unacceptable. I wanted to buy from them because the company is minority owned but I will not do so in the future. Slow delivery, no updates and it's obvious that their products are made in china and they order as customers make requests. I will file a complaint with my credit card company if I don't receive my order by 11/16/19.
