Complete scam
Complete scam. Willing to book trains within three days of the travel day but if you make a small mistake with the day are completely unwilling to refund even a portion of the money back.

Complete scam. Willing to book trains within three days of the travel day but if you make a small mistake with the day are completely unwilling to refund even a portion of the money back.
I purchased tickets, received a conformation and then they were cancelled a day later claiming the train was overbooked. I was told to rebook which I did but they booked the wrong dates. I was not able to use the tickets and had to purchase new ones at the main train station (which were some $60.00 cheaper even on the same day of travel). Also, how was I able to easily purchase tickets for the same day and time when they claimed there was an overbooking.
I contacted the company and although I never used the tickets they refused to offer any kind of refund. They said we understand you must be frustrated but we cannot help you. Seriously? Worst customer service ever, and a complete ripoff on the price!
The company turned out to be not an Official representative of Japan Railways, as we had thought based on very nice webpages. Instead it is a third-party booking site with fraudulently high charges, much higher than they advertise on their site , namely:
JR Line Tickets, Tax and Service Fee 1,290JPY ~3,230JPY per person
We bought three tickets from Japanbullettrain in April 2026 for the routes: Nagasaki-Okayama, Okayama- Ofuna and Ofuna-Sendai, and the fees charged turned out to be between 35% and 48% over the price of tickets had they been bought directly from Japanese Railways at railway stations.
Had the fee been charged the max amount of Y3230 per person as advertised, then the fee would have been between 14% and 24% what is already significant but over two times smaller than what we paid.
What trick the Japan Bullettrain company used to increase their profit is that they charged the maximum fee for each part of the route there was a separate ticket. In the case of Nagasaki-Okayama route the company gave us four tickets and charged the fee four times. In fact we were made to use two trains on the same route, just unbelievable...
Altogether we overspent Y45,220 over JR prices and Y29,070 if advertised fees had been charged (2 persons).
Additionally the QR codes we received never worked neither in Nagasaki nor Okayama neither Ofuna stations. After many unsuccessful trials we had to ask JR staff for help. and even they would spend 20 minutes to arrange for tickets to be printed...
I am never going to use JapanBullettrains when in Japan and I hope you will never too. Our bad experience was very expensive so it is better to learn from our mistake.
I purchased Shinkansen (bullet train) tickets through JapanBulletTrain.com; however, the service provided was not usable.
The QR code issued to us did not work at an official JR ticket machine in Japan. The machine instructed us to seek assistance, and JR staff were unable to locate or retrieve any booking associated with the QR code. As a result, we were unable to obtain tickets or travel using the purchased service.
We were required to purchase replacement tickets at the station in order to continue our journey, resulting in additional financial cost.
The matter was subsequently raised with our card provider, and the transaction was refunded after the merchant was unable to provide sufficient avidence that valid, usable tickets had been successfully issued and made accessible at the time of travel.
Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend booking Shinkansen tickets directly through official JR operators or well established platforms.
If there was a negative star review I would have given them negative 10 stars.
