Tozando Katana Shop is a Kyoto-based specialist in authentic Japanese swords, serving collectors around the world. From our home in Kyoto — the historic heart of Japanese sword culture — we offer genuine nihonto spanning centuries: antique katana, wakizashi and tanto, finely mounted koshirae, newly forged blades by today’s smiths, and iaito for practitioners of iaido and batto. Every sword we sell is a genuine Japanese sword, legally registered in Japan, and we provide NBTHK certification and documentation where applicable so you can buy with complete confidence. Authenticity is the foundation of everything we do: each piece is personally examined by our specialists before it is offered for sale, and described honestly and in detail. Buying a sword from Japan can feel daunting, so we handle the difficult parts for you. We obtain the required export permission from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, prepare all documentation, pack each sword to museum standard, and ship worldwide — fully insured and tracked, from our door to yours. American collectors make up the largest part of our clientele, and we are glad to guide first-time buyers and seasoned collectors alike. More than a store, we see ourselves as custodians who help these pieces of Japanese heritage find caring new homes. Whether you are acquiring your first blade or adding a rare work to an established collection, we are here to help before and after your purchase. Thank you for considering Tozando.

Although I haven't yet received my latest purchase (an intricate custom order that will take some time to craft) from Tozando, their customer service is always exceptional. I will not purchase nihonto from any other source. Tozando is quite simply the best.
The website is well-structured, with a clear explanation of the items offered for sale. Payment went smoothly, and I'm happy with the fast shipping of the item.
