Having moved from Blackburn to Bury, we needed to find a new gym. We were only interested in classes as we find this provides the best motivation and use of our time at the gym.
With classes being so important and coming from a gym with a fantastic instructor we had high expectations and low hopes of finding anything near to our previous instructor. Opting for JD Gyms (Bury) we tried the Les Mills classes with Jayne/Craig/Anne Michelle. Anticipating disappointment we found the classes weren't very good, we actually found them to be excellent!!! All three of these instructors are fantastic and Jayne provides another level of energy which is highly motivational to all who attend her classes.
As the classes are so important to us and we believe everybody else attending them, we hope the timetable continues as it is with numerous classes in mornings and evenings throughout the week. There have been some changes to the timetable recently, without these classes we would have to look for an alternative gym that does provide a broad range of classes.
We hope you listen to all the members who attend the classes and continue to provide the current timetable for the foreseeable future, please listen to the members of the gym!
Body attack and Body pump with Jane Deakin on a Monday and Wednesday’s
are the best classes at Jd gym.
High Energy ,fast paced.
She makes you work hard and I can see massive improvements in myself over the past 3 months that I have been going to her classes
I look forward to doing many more classes with Jane
Great facilities and group fitness offering. Convenient location and good value for money. Jayne’s classes are excellent - in particular Mon/Wed 6.30am Spin and 7pm BodyPump but all are very good. Was disappointed to see Friday 6.30am JD Burn taken off the timetable as enjoyed that format and the time suited going into the weekend.

JD burn increasingly removed from the class timetable however the instruction ranges from excellent to really poor.
It’s a tough and enjoyable class, but more would attend if some alternatives were offered for the people able to do burpees for example.
Re; Spin. If it wasn’t for Jayne’s classes I’d be gone. The last time she went on holiday 2 cover classes had instructor no shows. That’s not good enough.

JD Bury is a fantastic gym. A good range of classes available from some great instructors such as Jayne and Dom. 6.30am classes suit working people really well. Dom’s bootcamp and Jayne’s Hitstep are fabulous classes and always have a good buzz around them. Jayne is an incredible instructor and her classes really are another level! Tried a couple of the JD Engine but they lack the enthusiasm and atmosphere due to instructors. Shame to see they have removed two Les Mills Tuesday evening classes too. Would be great to see these added back soon.

I love the Les Mills classes, and so do many of my fellow members—regularly attracting loads of people to sessions like Pump, Pump Heavy, and Body Attack. I attend Bury Gym around four times a week, alongside a strong and committed group who come either early in the morning or after work.
The instructors are a huge part of what makes these classes so special. Jayne, Craig, and Ann-Michelle truly stand out. Jayne is incredibly inspiring, puts in so much effort for her members, and clearly cares deeply about the community she’s built. Ann-Michelle is equally dynamic and motivating. Their energy and dedication are what keep us coming back.
It’s really important that gym management recognises and values this. The recent scrutiny around classes has been confusing and concerning for many of us. With no replacement for Pump Heavy currently. We want to strongly advocate for how brilliant they are—not just as workouts, but as a vital part of the gym’s community and member experience.
This morning’s back-to-back Attack and Pump session with Jayne was completely full, and everyone left feeling energised and uplifted. That kind of atmosphere is something special and worth preserving. It was Easter Sunday and we were hopping out with pure adrenaline ready for the week!!
We feel strongly about keeping our studio Les Mills and HIIT classes. They matter to us. Alongside this, there are also some fantastic personal trainers like Ryan and Ben who contribute to the gym’s positive environment.
JD Gyms has a real opportunity here to listen to its members and build on what’s already working. By supporting these classes and the instructors behind them, they can maintain strong membership numbers and continue fostering a loyal, motivated community.

The gym is really clean and staff are always visible and happy to help with anything. My personal trainer Kamila is great and it’s nice to see the manager Laura out on the floor checking everything is up to standards and friendly. All the staff always have a smile on their faces too which is welcoming

Great gym, lots of great kit, lots of classes to choose from. I personally love xfit with Shannon, she’s really friendly and explains things well beforehand. But then she is also approachable when she’s round the gym too for any help or a quick chat.
