Sliding patio door with pet window…

Sliding patio door with pet window installed, pet window broke on install and it's now 5 months later. A fix was promised. Now call are not returned. We were told replacement was delivered to the service people weeks ago and still nothing. Nothing from jeld wen or Lowes where we purchased it. At this point considering court options. DONT BUY THESE PRODUCTS ANYWHERE!

Shocking

Over the past 7 years I’ve already had one lot replaced free of charge (4 sets of patio doors and 15 windows) and I’ve still have major issues.
Customer services do respond but obviously have a fob you off attitude, the most frustrating thing is that the same issue is happening again on the replacement ones.

Poor packaging, inferior product

In November the door from our kitchen to the basement broke. Since the house is over 100 years old, I thought perhaps the first had been low quality and maybe not properly installed. I placed an order through Home Depot for a door from this company and for it to be professionally measured and installed.
The first door, do note I said the first door, arrived in December damaged. The store had to cancel that order, send the damaged door back and then order a second door. It is January and the second door arrived damaged, just like the first.
When I called the company, I was told I should have requested special packaging so the door would not arrive damaged. Really? Your normal packaging should be sufficient for the product to arrive undamaged. It was not. Twice. Now I’m going for around three. I have asked Home Depot to compensate us for all of this. In the months that the broken door has been in the kitchen, it has fallen on us and the pets and done damage. We never thought it would take this long to replace a simple bifold closet door. I would recommend this company to no one.

Poor Products and Won't stand behind their warranty

I had an extremely disappointing experience with JELD-WEN regarding defective exterior doors purchased through Home Depot.

After an initial virtual inspection, JELD-WEN acknowledged the issues and offered to replace both doors. Months later, after sending two field inspectors, that offer was completely rescinded, and the claim was denied with the blame shifted to “installation issues” from five years ago—despite the inspectors doing nothing more than taking measurements and using a level. No repairs or adjustments were attempted.

To make matters worse, one of the door’s glass inserts is now discontinued, making replacement impossible, yet this was ignored in the final decision. Communication was inconsistent, and escalation resulted in fewer options, not solutions.

I have spent months documenting this issue, providing photos, emails, and cooperating fully with inspections, only to end up with a total denial and a token offer that doesn’t come close to addressing the problem.

Based on my experience, JELD-WEN does not stand behind their products or warranty when it truly matters. I would strongly caution anyone considering their doors—especially for major exterior installations—to think twice.

Never should of left factory

Such poor quality control. Bought two double hung from Home Depot. I was ready to install them when I noticed you could actually see a gap between the two sashes. Returned to store for a full refund.

Poorly constructed, zero warranty support

Bought set of French doors with the blinds enclosed and within two weeks one of the blinds got hung up. Another two weeks were spent trying to get a warranty initiated. Then they wanted to order and send us the parts to repair our own door. I said no. Jason Ludwig | CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE REPRESENTATIVE told me it would take two more months for the parts to come in. I asked the day after they were due in if they had arrived, and Jason said he didn't know. I waited ten days and asked him again as my case handler. He again said he did not know. He did not ever send a request to verify according to their customer service three days later.
Poorly constructed doors
Warranty Department hard to get a case initiated with
Warranty still not validated 3 months later

Horrible experience with a clearly…

Horrible experience with a clearly defective JELD-WEN window – zero accountability

I ordered a window through Menards from JELD-WEN (Order #60526910), and within just a few weeks of installation, we discovered water pouring into the house during rainfall. Upon inspecting the issue, it became clear the window was manufactured without a proper drain opening. Water hits the screen, drops into the lower rail, and flows directly inside the house, causing interior damage.

When we reached out to JELD-WEN warranty support, their response was shockingly irresponsible — they told us to drill holes ourselves into the window to create a drain. Are you kidding me? This is a brand-new unit with a factory defect. Why should the installer or homeowner be forced to modify a faulty product, risk damaging it further, and be left responsible for water damage to the interior?

We asked who would cover the time, labor, and interior repair costs caused by their product, and received no real answer. No accountability, no technician sent, no real resolution — just passing the buck back to us.

If you're a contractor or homeowner expecting a quality product and proper support, I strongly recommend staying away from JELD-WEN. Cheap quality, poor engineering, and zero customer service when it matters most.

Incredibly poor quality

We bought a 4 year old home with Jeld-wen windows and were surprised with the incredibly poor quality. 2 of the windows have very visible diagonal streaks of dirt between the panes, indicating a lack of quality control at the factory, two of the windows had condensation between the panes when we moved in during the summer, and now come winter, we keep finding more windows with condensation between the panes due to broken seals. One set of patio doors can't be closed. We contacted the company to make a warranty claim and were told that for properties sold, the windows' warranty only lasts 2 years past purchase.

Don't buy jeldwen

The manufacturing of vinyl windows is poor. There is excess flash material on the corners of the upper sash and frame which locks the window in the up position. Signicant force is required to lower the window. The company's customer service is poor and will not acknowledge their manufacturing process needs improvement

They will not escalate my claim to leadership

They will not escalate my claim to their leadership and my claim falls outside of the scope of their standard operating procedure. We have been back and forth with their teams for 100k+ dollar transaction that is under warranty and it seems that their goal is to wear me down to make me go away without any claims. They have requested some information which I will provide only when I'm given the means to talk to leadership with autonomy to make a operating business decision outside their SOP.

Bottom weatherstripping on $1300 door failed after a year - no help from Jeld-Wen.

A $1300 patio door and the bottom weatherstripping came out after about a year. That door is not used for about 7 months out of a year. Their customer service said it's only warrantied for 6 months. They said buy a new part and install it yourself. I'm over 70, low income and in poor health. They said just hire someone. Substandard products and substandard customer service. I saved for 2 years to afford that door and it's defective. Shame on them.

Bad window experience.

I'm 77 years old installed hundreds of windows and without a doubt this companies picture window size 114x 59 with a slider on each end purchased from Home Depot, Kingsport, Tn. is by far the worst quality window I have ever installed. I can promise you it will and was my last.

Terrible product quality control

Terrible product quality control. This door manufacturer builds prehung doors that are consistently misfit to their jambs. On three occasions, their door jams have been up to a quarter inch wider at the top or bottom, leaving uneven gaps around the doors.

Equally poor customer service did not offer any assistance in The cost of repairing or replacing the last door, which was an emergency install that would have cost hundreds to remove. Instead, they only offered a product refund.

This is unacceptable quality control and customer service, especially for a major national door manufacturer.
