Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 65 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the company to be a money trap, constantly charging extra for various services and items, often without clear communication or consistency. People frequently encountered issues with the booking process, including unexpected flight changes without notification, overbooked flights, and difficulties with online check-in, which often led to additional charges at the airport. The staff were often described as unhelpful, unfriendly, and lacking in communication, contributing to stressful and disorganized experiences, especially during boarding and when resolving payment or baggage issues. However, some customers reported positive experiences, appreciating the transparent pricing model where they could choose to pay only for the services they needed, and found their flights to be clean and on time.

Travelled a lot and with budget…

Travelled a lot and with budget airlines. Even gave this company a chance with how bad the first flight was but already had another booked and it’s shocking. First airline that has charged me to check in at the airport and not online! Absolutely ridiculous it’s a fast job. All the staff are miserable. The organisation when boarding is a mess, the lines are chaos and due to this by the time you get to the front people are being sent away.

Cheap, on-time and nice new airbus planes

We flew with JetSmart three times during our stay in Colombia. The staff were great. All the flights were on time and the bags came out fast. The only issue we had was when we tried to pay using our cards directly on the website from the UK. If we changed our VPN to Chile it might of worked. We had to go through Trip.com to purchase the flights which made them more expensive but £40 per flight with luggage was still good. There is no need to print your boarding pass the one that is downloaded once you check in can be shown. Ignore the print at airport fee comment. Our passes were automatically printed at the check 2/3 times..the other time we just used our phone.

Choose another company

Would definitely advise you to choose another company to fly with even if this one seems cheap at first it's gonna cost you 3x the price announced. From the beginning it was complicated. They sent us 2 updated confirmation number and when we had to do the check in we could only find one of the two passengers so we had to wait to the airport to do the proper check in. After down the jetsmart line at the airport we been told by the rude lady at the counter to go back at the end to try again to do the check in and pay for our luggage. They gave us another confirmation number to enter. This time we could see both of our name in the reservation but were not able to pay for our luggage. So we wait in line again and when we arrive at the counter the girl told us that it was normal that we didn't succeed to pay for our luggage cause you could only do it until 3h before your flight. Why didn't she tell us that last time we were there??? 😤She made us do the check in again in front of her and made us pay double the price which wasn't our fault they didn't provided us with the good confirmation number! 😡 then we were waiting to board when I was pulled aside by another very rude lady telling me that my personal bag was too big and that I had to pay for it again to an even higher price than the double price we just paid for our checked in luggage 🤯🤬 so we paid 3 times the price they could provide us with the right info when we booked?? 😠second time flying with this Chilien company and trust me it's going to be the last time!

JetSmart is the Most Incompetent, Irresponsible Airline We've Ever Encountered – Avoid at All Costs

My partner and I were wrongfully denied boarding in Rio de Janeiro on a JetSmart flight to Santiago, despite holding fully valid Chilean visas. JetSmart’s untrained, outsourced staff couldn’t interpret a basic tourist visa and falsely claimed our visas had expired. They misread the “last date of entry” as the expiry date – a mistake so basic it defies belief.

We explained the visa rules. We showed the embassy guidelines. We pointed out our entry stamps and confirmed stay validity. They refused to listen. Refused to look. Refused to even acknowledge our documents. They simply walked away and let the flight leave without us, while we stood there, helpless, with confirmed tickets to return home to Australia in two days.

That one moment of gross incompetence triggered a nightmare:

We were forced to re-enter Brazil, now effectively stuck and nearly stranded without legal status.

JetSmart's “help desk” was a cruel joke: no real staff, no help, no solutions.

We had to scramble to find food, shelter, and new flights — while trying to contact embassies and avoid missing our international flight home.

The next day, JetSmart’s own staff admitted they were wrong — and still refused to help.

Their supervisor, who finally appeared, was shockingly arrogant and dismissive, denying reality even when presented with official embassy confirmation of our visa validity.

She refused to sell us new tickets and told us to try a different airline.

They made a mistake. They knew it. And they did nothing.

LATAM, by contrast, reviewed the same visas, immediately recognised they were valid, and got us on a flight that night. We had zero problems at Chilean immigration. Because we were right — and JetSmart was dangerously, catastrophically wrong.

This cost us over $1,000, put us under immense stress, and nearly caused us to miss our flight back to Australia, jeopardising work, visas, and legal obligations. And JetSmart has not refunded a cent, nor accepted fault.

This airline is not just low-cost — it is reckless, unaccountable, and utterly unfit to operate internationally. The staff are untrained, the support system is nonexistent, and their handling of critical situations is worse than negligent – it’s hostile.

DO NOT FLY JETSMART. It is not worth the risk. They do not care if you are right, stranded, or in danger. They will wash their hands of you the second you have a problem they caused. This airline has no integrity, no training, and no soul.

Zero Accountability, Maximum Damage

I had an international flight to catch in Bogotá, so I booked a local connection well in advance to ensure I arrived on time. I showed up at the airport two hours early, only to be told—without warning—that my flight had been delayed by 2.5 hours. That’s not a delay—that’s a complete rescheduling, done without any notice, concern, or accountability.

This airline clearly doesn’t care one bit about its passengers. I calmly explained that missing this connection meant losing my international flight, potentially costing me my job and severely impacting my life. Their response? A shrug and a dismissive, “We can’t do anything. Good luck.” That’s not customer service—it’s total negligence.

I had no choice but to spend an extra one million pesos to book a last-minute seat with another airline to make it on time. One of the most stressful, chaotic days of my life—all thanks to the incompetence and indifference of this company.

I will never fly with them again. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. If this is how they treat paying customers, they deserve to go out of business.

Feels like extortion

This must be the worst airline I’ve ever flown with. With budget airlines you expect the price to increase with all kind of options like lugage during the booking proces, but what this airline does just seems criminal to me.
We chose for random seats so we didn’t have to pay for them. During the online checkin however, it was impossible to proceed without paying for selecting a seat (you couldn’t continue with randomly appointed seats, as we had selected when booking). So, impossible to checkin online, we decided to just checkin at the desk. Surprise, surprise: you need to pay for checking in at the desk.
Seems like extortion to me: you need to pay one way or the other, even though you selected random seats.

In the end we paid more than flying with Sky for example, and with them, it’s a lot less hassle. My advice: don’t’t fly with Jetsmart!

Besides all that I also ran into other problems.
- Searching flights on their website, outside of Latin America seems impossible. I shared a video with the network traffic when using their website, including the errors that appeared, but they didn’t care. According to them the website worked fine.
- When checking in at Cusco airport, there was no one behind the desk until 1,5 hours before departure, so there was a long line outside and we left an hour late

Most probably, the worse airline in the world.

We have flown a lot internationally and with low cost airlines and these jokers were the worse we have flown with. The customer service and experience was dreadful especially the check in and ground staff. I genuinely believe I was picked on and strong-armed in to paying excess charges on the Lima-Cusco- Lima as I was English speaking and easy prey for staff who were incentivised to generate revenue.
It’s obviously a get away with anything airline whose staff didn’t even bother to go through the safety demonstration on the return leg.
In my opinion, DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM - read the reviews.

We had to pay 2 x 40 soles (approx 20 euros) for two boardingpasses at checkin in Cusco. We got unasked prio boarding and had to sit apart from each other while there was enough space in the aircraft for sitting next to each other. Scam with really bad service. Choose another company!

I hate your airline so much. I hope if fails you pack of miserable pricks. Your staff are a sad unemotional workforce which mirrors how terrible it is to work for your scum company. May all the wings fall off all your planes. May all your staff loose their job so they actually learn to smile again.

Jet-not so-Smart- Scam

We had our flight booked from Quito to Lima. We received multiple messages from JetSmart that everything was ready for our travel on the days leading up to. 2 days before we get the “it’s time to check in for your flight” - when we then press on the link it just says “you’re flight is cancelled”. No rebooking option. No explanation. No refund.
When we call them up they say that the flight has been cancelled for 3 months - they just never got around to letting us know or give us our money back.
On top of that they said we should just wait 30 days then we would get our money automatically.
Now it is 80 days ago and we have still not received any money. And we haven’t heard anything even though we have tried countless times. I can not find any email to contact & when we go online to request the refund they send us a confirmation link that doesn’t work.
I would think it was the most basic thing ever to provide the money back when you don’t provide the service. It should be illegal for us to have to “request a refund” that then doesn’t even work.
Would very much like to find out what is happening here?

The worst airline I’ve experienced

The worst airline I’ve experienced, hands down (and this is after backpacking around the world for seven months). They consistently oversell flights, so if you don’t check in online long before the flight, your chances of not getting a seat and being held on standby are extremely high.
No apologies from the counter staff about this, because they do it all the time (and say “all Latin American airlines do this”, which is not true in my experience). I missed a flight from BA to Iguasu because of this overselling - I was travelling with my husband and he got the last seat on the plane while I was put on standby (Standby #4 to be exact). Predictably I didn’t get on the flight and had to book a new one with Aerolineas Argentinas, costing three times as much, just to get there that evening and not miss our hotel/next day activities. Other passengers, almost in tears, told me the exact same story the next day.

The flight was ok BUT

The flight was ok. The only negative thing is that you can only pay in cash on the plane and if you pay in dollars the change is in argentinean pesos…
Also that they don’t announce boarding with time, just call for a LAST CALL and you have to rush to the door.

Got to be the worst airline on planet Earth

Got to be the worst, most stupid airline on planet Earth. Yes planet Earth. Sure you might get lucky and everything goes relatively smooth but the odds are stacked against you.

It literally didn't allow me to check in online and kept looping back to the seat selection page despite pressing the confirm button. When in the queue to pay for check in, it suddenly works and assigns a random seat and boarding pass. However unless you happen to take a screen shot of it that's it?? When you log in again to view, there is no option to view or download the boarding pass again..? Presumably you can download it at the time you get it however if you don't do it then, that's it..All the options were just to email the itinerary again ( which also goes to a bogus email address that you can't change???) and not download or even view??? Then if there's less than 1 hour to go when you realise that it doesn't let you download or view it again there is no one in any check on counter and no airline office (in Lima airport at least)....Airport staff try to contact someone to assist but can't get through to someone until only 20 mins before departure when they say it's too late and you've missed your flight...An absolute joke of an airline website and staff. Oh and of course it doesn't let you download the app unless you're from the area. Along with the many other things people have mentioned this airline is truly grotesque and beyond incompetent
