Jon Ayres has serviced our oil boiler…

Jon Ayres has serviced our oil boiler for a number of years. Each year he has pressured us to buy a new boiler. It came to a head this year when he showed me a crack inside the boiler, saying this was the cause of the leaking soot and we definitely needed a new boiler. His bill for servicing and cleaning the boiler was £454 which seemed excessive.
I thought the crack was unlikely to cause the leak of soot and obtained a second opinion. This engineer agreed that the crack would not cause the leak of soot and he thought the boiler would last some years more, but he pointed out a couple of seals that might need replacing at the next service. He also showed me how the baffles had been put back incorrectly.
