Sellers beware

Sellers beware!!!
Learning points from my encounter on 25th March 2026, helps both parties;
- if not experienced...
- weigh gold/silver on your own scales so you have an approximate idea and can cross check (my total came to around 44g, not even closely matched)
- look for hallmarks, do your own research, know more about what you're offering
- split into batches of what you think they are for discussion e.g. gold in carat sections
- focus on what you think are higher value items and discuss them individually
- get other valuations from elsewhere first, especially of items that you believe from family information have higher value even if damaged e.g. pearls. Clasp silver/white gold/platinum?
- keep YOUR items in front of you as it is all discussed, do not allow them to be put out of your reach
- take a friend, go slowly
- go away and have a think, no rush to commit
- if not happy on reflection go back soonest and reclaim your items.
