0 stars really

0 stars really. I’ve been waiting and calling regularly for a refund - over 2 months now! I get the feeling that they are going to declare bankruptcy, so if they stall long enough, they’ll never have to refund my money.

0 Stars actually!!!!!

0 Stars actually!!!!!! I’ve ordered from this company for several years. The quality was good. I ordered a sweater for my husband in December- Christmas present, and by mid January it was balling up terribly. I called customer service and was told to it. I tracked and the item was back in their warehouse by the end of that month. Since, I’ve been following up regularly. I’ve been promised over and over again that I will receive my money- It’s been almost 4 months!

Ordered an item from most recent…

Ordered an item from most recent catalog on 3/24/25. By 4/ 7 I still had no notification of shipment. Called them and was told the item was backordered. How can a brand new item in a brand new catalog be backordered?? Was told it would be in by 4/24. Today is 5/2 still no item, no notification. Called again and now they have no idea when or if the item will be available. WHY ADVERTISE AN ITEM IF YOU CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT IS AVAILABLE???????? Not just poor customer service and business operation but underhanded.

Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware! If I could give a lower rating for this company I wouldn"t hesitate. I have been a customer with this company since the 90's and I have always loved the product and customer service. What happened? Customer service is terrible. The left hand does not have a clue what the right hand is doing. I placed an order for an item on March 15,2025 in the amount of $178 and received notification that my order had been received and I would receive notification as soon as my package has shipped, money was immediately charged to my account which I thought was odd, generally this doesn't happen until product is shipped on 03/17/2025 I received notification that order has been shipped and was on its way within 4-7 days with tracking my package # I waited until 03/21/2025 and carrier ups does not have possession of my package on March 27 I contacted customer service and was told they would follow up and get back with me soon I was never contacted so I called again on March 28 to follow up and was told they were researching the matter and wuld get back with me as soon as possible I was never contacted on April 4 I contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge because I have never received my order I received txt today April 16 saying they did know there was an issue until they received my chargeback needless to say I am properly disappointed.

Low quality unprofessionals.

On April 1, I had an appointment scheduled for a clogged drain. When I called to cancel they suggested I get my electrical panel looked at. I agreed due to our electrical bills being over $100 higher than usual. Their salesman said it was being caused by electrical panel and it would need to be replaced. He also stressed how we were at risk of a house fire if it wasn't replaced immediately. We agreed to have it replaces but found out later that day, that it wasn't the electrical panel that needed to be replaced, but it was due to a repair that Aron from Peterman Brothers didn't do correctly on 12/27. We looked at our energy bill and realized the higher energy bill started right after his "repair". We found out he wired it incorrectly and connected our furnace to run of emergency heat. We also were told that there was no danger of fire as well. We immediately texted, called, sent a message through chat and sent an email canceling the order. The loan company canceled the loan, but now Peterman said they need to keep $250 from my deposit. There was no mention of this with signing up and they made no attempt to correct their error from December after finding out their guy didn't do his job the first time. This whole experience has been a nightmare and we just want our money back from these con men

J Peterman Catalog Avoid

If I could rate no stars I would.

Do not do business with this compony.

2 Christmas orders returned for fit and acknowledged received (about $500). 5 phone calls to see why credit not yet received. Now April and still the same nonsense - should get in 10 to 14 days. My opinion - unethical. Buy elsewhere!!

No Refund

I returned an item of $161 in a timely manner. 3 phone calls and 4 emails since January 9th and still no refund. I have purchased several items in the past and was happy with high quality items. Don't they want my business?

J Peterman has not refunded my money…

J Peterman has not refunded my money two months after I returned my item, which cost $249. I have emailed and chatted with numerous people and/or bots to no avail, all with bogus excuses. I will never buy anything from them again. They have not been vetted by Better Business Bureau either. Used to be a decent company though it did go bankrupt in the 90s. Bottom of the barrel now.

To be honest

To be honest, I would have given 0 stars if that was an option, but will afford one star because of their catalog. For an institution with such uniqueness, history, and style - - not to mention the cost of the merchandise - - they do a HORRIBLE job with respect to returns.
Almost three months ago I purchased well over $1,000 of garments (which isn't saying much giving the cost of each item), and unfortunately ended up having to return half of them. I am going on my 8th week of no refund, no communications except those intiated on my end, and being told by the customer service rep that they themselves will personally handle my refund and get back to me, only to have to call back multiple days later due to no communcation nor refund in my bank account.
Aside the cost of the items, you are also charged ~$25 to have the items shipped back. So, in addition to the total amount of the merchandise, the cost to ship, as well as the interest accrued daily on my credit card because the full balance of the purchase remains, I can honestly say what started off as an exciting first J. Peterman experience, has ended sadly and disappointedly being my last. I will never shop with this merchant again, nor will I encourage/support others to do the same, rather, I would discourage anyone from purchasing. Such a shame.

Don't hold your breath on a refund.

I purchased a watch as a Christmas gift back in November 2024. I needed to return the watch. Called and received my RMA#. They received the watch on January 9, 2025. To this date, I still have not received my credit. I have called numerous times and was told due to large returns from the Christmas season, they are behind. To this date, March 20, 2025, I still have not received my credit. I will never order from them again.

It's a shame..

It's a shame... I've been a customer since the 90s. This has always been such a fun catalog and a great customer experience. Now it's like pulling teeth to get one's order. I cancelled the last order I made a few months ago and gave them a last chance, for old time's sake... I'm going around and around customer service at the moment and will likely end up having to cancel via my credit card company. It's so sad to see the slow, painful customer service death of this company.

It's like you're Seinfeld at a Worthy Rent-A-Car counter

Ordered (4) items (Qty 2 French Terry Bomber Cardigans, Cabana Shirt, and Linen Safari Jacket) via a promo email (30% off and free shipping) on my mobile phone. Order #W210432. (3) items shipped/ arrived and 4th/ Linen Safari Jacket shows pending. Also, my fault for not noticing the itemization so I was charged the shipping. 1st attempt: Emailed to address both issues. Customer Service responded indicating the item was on back-order (but it was for the wrong item/ a Short Sleeve A-list Pocket Crew/ Size Med) and didn't address the shipping. I responded/ noted the corrections. They auto-closed the ticket. 2nd attempt: Emailed to address both issues. Customer Service responded indicating "a refund for the free ground shipping applied to your order as per the Black Friday promotion" and 4th item is on back-order. Confused by the shipping comment, I responded with screenshots showing I was charged shipping/ so not applied to the order and I don't have a refund on my credit card statement and the Linen Safari Jacket is in stock per their website (shows Qty9 available in my size). 3rd attempt/ concurrent with the 2nd attempt reply: I went to their website and completed a form to address both issues and am waiting for their reply. I am hopeful both responses will be free of erroneous information. Seems like competent Customer Service should be table stakes for an online retailer, but here we are...

The Thug Cap not "Made in Ireland".

The Thug Cap description says
"made in Ireland". The sewn-in label on the inside of the Cap says "Made in Poland". I noted this on the email follow-up from their Reseach form. No answer from Peterman received. Surely they know where their products are made. Why lie about it? Why no answer from them?

Customer Service is Non-Existent

It is hard not to be sucked in by J. Peterman’s marketing and unique products. But, do yourself a favor - DON’T! Their customer service is non-existent.

I’ve ordered many things from Peterman over the years. Most recently I ordered a hat (which I like) and was then immediately barraged by marketing emails. One of them offered 25% off on my next order. My wife’s birthday was approaching and she had mentioned she really liked the “Counterfeit Mailbag” in their catalog that came with my hat. Perfect I thought - apply the 25% discount to the mailbag listed just below $300. I went on line and ordered the bag applying the discount. There was plenty of time to receive the product in advance of the birthday.

I quickly received an acknowledgment for my order. My card was billed (plus shipping and taxes) and the next day I got an email saying the bag had shipped along with a UPS tracking number. Since it was a birthday present I checked shipping progress daily in the hope I could catch the package before my wife. It made it to the city where I live and then showed it was transferred to the US Postal Service. Hmmm - this would delay things but there should still be time. Well, on the day that it was to arrive I got another email from Peterman claiming it had been delivered. There was no package! I checked my doorbell camera to see if it had been delivered or if porch pirates had stolen it. Negative… there was no recording or any delivery or approach to our front door and porch where USPS claimed it had been delivered.

I checked the Peterman website and since it was after customer service hours I used the email site to explain the problem and ask how I could track what happened to the package. The next morning I received an email response. They suggested canvassing neighbors (already done) and waiting up to 5 days for it to show up. In other words, they felt no responsibility or accountability to help find the package.

The UPS tracking site had a link to report problems. I filled out the on line form and immediately got an email saying it was not UPS’s problem because they delivered it to the post office for final delivery. Have you ever tried calling the post office? Try it with a heaping helping of patience! No luck, I could not get through.

Luckily, I managed to catch our postman. He’s a great guy and called a special number he has. He learned that it had been delivered to the right house number on another street 2 blocks away! He personally went to the house, retrieved the package and delivered it.

OK, if you’ve read this far you might be thinking I got the package, no harm, no foul. The box looked like it had been drop kicked from Peterman to the final address. I opened it to make sure everything was there. It was in one piece but there was no shipping info. The only other item in the box was another Peterman catalog which I decided to leave in when I wrapped it.

My wife was ecstatic with the bag. BUT she leafed through the catalog and saw a listing for the product. It was $198!!! Almost $100 less than the list price I had just paid (before discount). Frustrated, I tried calling Peterman’s customer service number. What a joke! After wending my way through multiple number options I was placed on hold. After quite a while a recording came on and asked me if I wanted to wait another 3 minutes or call back. I stayed on hold. Three minutes later I got another recording which said nobody was available and to call back later then hung up.

You make up your own mind based on my experience. Personally this is the last time I give my hard earned money to a company that could care less about the customer experience provided they have your money.

Don't give these guys your info unless you want to be aggressively marketed to

I ordered one small item from JPeterman.com in January. Even though I unchecked the box for marketing, after the order was confirmed I got a message thanking me for signing up for marketing. My order hadn't even shipped yet and they were already presumptuously working on the next sale. I immediately contacted their customer service and told them I didn't sign up for anything and don't want marketing. Apparently they simply didn't care because, shortly after, I started receiving multiple unwanted catalogs every month. I contacted them AGAIN and told them to stop the catalogs. That was March. They assured me they'd take care of it. Now it's mid-July and the catalogs keep coming. It's ridiculous. I hate companies that aggressively treat customer data as a commodity. Needless to say we will NEVER be ordering from them again. Don't give J. Peterman your information unless you want to be beat over the head by marketing, whether you want it or not.

Update: I thought it was worth mentioning that I took the time to send a letter to Peterman management about this issue and never received the courtesy of a reply, which I think is just despicable. This company just DOES NOT CARE.

Cotton shirt "Dry Cleaned"????

Ordered a summer shirt last week for $100. When it came it was labeled "Dry Clean Only", a cotton shirt. I called the company who has its customer relations in the Phil. overseas. All they do is mouth Peterman's prescribed talking points and you get no satisfaction. Returns are impossible, cause they make it that way. They don't value their customers. What's happened to this company is tragic and a shame. I discontinued their catalog and will never but anything from this unethical company again.

Customer service non-existent

Customer service non-existent. I attempted to buy some tee-shirts they had on offer but couldn't get through. On hold for ages, asked if I wanted to wait another 3 minutes then they cut me off. Emails go unanswered and even the chat bot is surly and unhelpful. I used to like Peterman's clothes but I'll never shop with them again. I'd rather have my teeth drilled by Laurence Olivier.

Twice I ordered from this company and…

Twice I ordered from this company and the order never came. I had to call and contact them several times to no avail. Finally, I was contacted and told they were overextended and had to refund my order amount. This was after over a month. I am done with J Peterman.
