Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 95 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers reported significant issues with the vehicles, including poor build quality, old models, and numerous defects such as non-working stoves, blocked sinks, and missing items. Reviewers frequently encountered mechanical problems like faulty brakes, non-functional heaters, and issues with electrical systems, which often led to breakdowns and ruined trips. The customer service was widely criticized for being unhelpful, unresponsive, and lacking follow-through, with many feeling that management did not take responsibility for the problems. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with their experience, noting friendly staff, easy pick-up and drop-off, and comfortable vehicles that were well-equipped and easy to drive. Some also appreciated the design and agility of certain campervan models, finding them suitable for their travel routes.

If l could give a zero star l would

If l could give a zero star l would. We hired a 6 berth motor home, pick up was good. When we started driving out of the city on the open road the van started shaking a lot. My husband thought the van needed a wheel balance so he would have it done when we arrived at our destination 6 hours away. We stayed on 90km an hour all the way so the van did not shake as much. we rang the emergency number and they agreed to pay for a wheel balance. The next day we took it to the wheel shop. Three hours later they called to say, the problem was the front wheel had been put on incorrectly after a blown tire, (yes the spare was totally blown). The shaking was the loose wheel and the nuts holding the tyre on had all broken. We were lucky not to have been in a serious accident. The motorhome had left Juicy with a blown spare tyre and the new one not installed correctly. This totally ruined our holiday as they replaced the van with a two berth. We got some compensation but nothing made up for the ruined 10 day trip.

Just stopped to help a couple who had just rented one of your vans. Had a puncture, the spare looked like it had never been checked, it was rotten and the side walls were cracked. Not only is this dangerous if they had to drive on it, it's also unroadworthy further more risking another blow out just to be stranded.

Dangerous unsafe car, massive wait times. Avoid at all costs.

Car was dangerously unsafe. The passenger side seatbelt randomly unbuckled THREE TIMES when driving without touching it. Also their reply is nonsense no one has been in contact to discuss the issues, they don't care.

It took over 90 mintues to get the car. Your only option is to get a shuttle. I waited 30 minutes on the phone for the shuttle and got hung up on multiple times. None of the operators knew where I was supposed to go. So wandered around following the "green line", which isn't continuous, there's no signs to tell you which way to go and it isn't even painted for most of it. So we ended up walking from one end of the domestic terminal all the way to international because contrary to their email there are zero signs at the airport and the lines they tell you to follow aren't even painted. And no one on the phone would help because they kept putting me on hold.

Once finally on the shuttle the driver went back to the pick up area after leaving three times.

The car was in abismal condition with dents, rust and marks everywhere. They wanted us to complete an inspection report on the car marking all the areas of damage on a diagram... this is after waiting 90 minutes mind you. If I had actually filled out the paper, it would have been marks everywhere, literally no point.

Honestly I thoroughly regret using Jucy and will never again, dangerous unsafe cars and terrible service. I will be making complaints to consumer affairs and the ACCC.

You can't make this stuff up.

My wife and I had the most terrible experience with JUCY. The 1 star is for the amazing employee that stayed a bit late past closing time when our Greyhound bus was running late to allow us to still pick up our vehicle. Otherwise it would be 0. The rest... You tell me how they did...

We rented a campervan from Brisbane to Sydney. Once the employee left, we realized that the port which the GPS connects to didn't work. We were relying on this as we were traveling without phone plans so already couldn't get to all the little spots we wanted to as didn't have directions.

The real issue though was that about an hour into our trip, it just absolutely poured with rain the entire trip. Upon arriving in Byron Bay, we discovered a leak in our roof and my entire bag and all my clothes were drenched to start our 4 day trip. That, and my entire side of the bed was wet. Brutal. I couldn't call JUCY because they were closed, but also we were on a tight deadline with all our campsites booked and there were no locations between Byron Bay and Sydney to change a van over in. Woke up throughout the night with my entire bottom side of the bed soaked right through the sheets, seat, etc. All it did was rain, and all that happened was our stuff, sleeping area and van were getting wetter and wetter. We spent our trip hiding out in underground parking garages for hours at a time just to have breaks from getting wet. I spent countless hours with our sheets in dryers, clothes being held under handheld dryers in washrooms and not enjoying a single part of our trip. After a couple days, using gum, some duct tape I found and a reusable shopping bag, I was able to stop the leak.. so I thought. All seemed better in the back but when I went to sit in the front seat the next day, I must have sat in 2 inches of water. It simply diverted the water and I spent all my time from then on sitting on garbage bags.

I booked many aspects of my trip through an outside agency, including having them book JUCY for me. They reached out to the company multiple times on my behalf. THEY EVEN SHARED THE VIDEO I TOOK showing the roof clearly leaking all over everything. I also shared pictures of my gum/bag/duct tape job on the outside and inside of the car.

In the end, even after increasing their offer once, they only refunded $120 out of almost $800 in rental costs. The company who helped me book this felt so bad that THEY REFUNDED me an additional $80.

JUCY stated that since 80% of the vehicle was still in functioning order, they should keep 80 % of my money. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME. Anyone in customer service with half a brain on their head would say within 3 seconds that this is not acceptable, and absolutely all your money will be refunded. The van serves as your accommodation!!!!! Imagine a hotel leaking water from the ceiling on your bed for 4 days straight. They wouldn't say, "Hey your bathroom and TV still worked so we will keep 80 percent out of your money"

They even stated the $120 was a "gesture of goodwill" and they hoped I will give them a chance to exceed their expectations in the future. SERIOUSLY? Bottom line, JUCY failed in the biggest way, even with clear video evidence showing how terrible our experience was.

The engine light was also on the whole trip which created a bit of anxiety. While it's a cool idea to camp in these vans, they are all quite old and have a ton of miles on them. I am sure many people have issues with their vans and I can't even imagine what they would or wouldn't do if you got stranded.

In the end, get a rental car, take a flight, hitchhike, do a ride share, stay in a hostel, sleep on the beach, or pay the extra for a hotel. Shame on JUCY for trying to even justify for a second any keeping of even a cent of my money.

I only wish I could upload the video of the leak. It didn't stop leaking for 4 straight days.

Non professional and waiting for refund!

We were given a car with many kms but we paid for all insurance coverage. But still we had a problem with the car: started popping up the Engine Symbol and we got stopped in the middle of an highway in Australia. We tries many contacts to Jucy, the roadaide help only came 2houra afters and took us to the near city as told by Jucy - that the mechanics would try to fix it. 2hours after we and the mechanics office told Jucy that the vehicle was not ready today or maybe tomorrow, cause this was unsafe to drive because the engine was too 'old', jucy kept calling us with the same not real solution: giving us a stay in an hotel, when we told them we needed to be somewhere tomorrow 7am and we would need a new car! This is a rental car company and they do not give us a 2nd car? Even when it is a mechanical situation, nothing to do with the customer.
We are since 12am waiting for a real feedback,we had to book a night bus and are waiting for the refund of the days we DID NOT get the car as paid for,and the bus.

Irresponsible and Incompetent: Avoid Jucy Campervan Rentals at All Costs!

Jucy Campervan Rentals was an absolute nightmare and my biggest travel regret to date. From start to finish, their incompetence and lack of communication were appalling.

Our ordeal began on Thursday when our 11:00 am pickup was delayed first by 20 minutes for fueling and then an additional 1.5 hours due to a mechanical issue. Despite stressing the importance of making it to a 1:40 pm tour in Te Anau, we were assured of a refund for the tour as the van wouldn't be ready in time. Reluctantly, we left without the refund but were promised it would be processed upon our return... big mistake. To top it off, we were rushed out without the snow chains we had specifically added to our rental agreement for safety.

On Sunday, things went from bad to worse. At 10:00 am the vehicle came to a stop whilst driving and became completely inoperable. We were forced to stop in an extremely unsafe location, unable to drive further. After a 40 minute wait to connect with AA, we were told assistance would arrive within 15-60 minutes. Instead, we waited for 2 hours in a dangerous spot, constantly reiterating our precarious position to Jucy HQ and AA.

Throughout this ordeal, Jucy’s communication was abysmal. We repeatedly called their headquarters, only to be told we’d receive a callback within 20 minutes. This callback never came, leaving us in the dark and forcing us to initiate contact multiple times. When AA finally arrived, they managed to get us to Twizel by replacing the battery but confirmed the vehicle was unsafe to drive further. Jucy HQ then advised us to book accommodation and food for the night, assuring us that expenses would be reimbursed.

Monday morning brought no relief. Despite calling Jucy as soon as they opened, we were informed that vehicles were available in Queenstown but the staff were “too busy” to bring one to us. It had now been over 24 hours with no help whatsoever. Instead, we were told to extend our hotel stay and wait for a tow. This so-called solution was nothing short of a joke. We were left waiting for hours with no clear instructions or updates, and when the tow truck finally arrived at 4:00 pm, the driver had no instructions from Jucy on where to even bring us.

To add insult to injury, the refund for the missed tour was denied because the staff member who assured us had quit the next day. We were told they could not honor the staff member's words since he had quit the company... honestly, I can't blame him, but seriously? Despite being explicitly told to keep receipts for reimbursement for the extra food and accommodation, we were later informed these would not be covered. We were left stranded without any support for over 30 hours, losing 2.5 days of our holiday due to Jucy’s gross incompetence and complete lack of responsibility.

Jucy Campervan Rentals is the epitome of an irresponsible and unprofessional company. Their severe lack of communication, failure to provide essential safety equipment we purchased, and refusal to honor promised refunds turned our holiday into a disaster. I would never recommend Jucy to anyone. Save yourself the headache and choose a more reliable company. This was undoubtedly my biggest travel regret.

I would never recommend it

In the car started popping up the oil signal and it had been three days until they swap it. Not only that, they made us come 12h and a half to their branch in Brisbane in a toll truck (which was bringing two more cars before, so it took ages to arrive in that more than unconfortable vehicle). It was insane!
It’s really difficult getting in touch with them, even if you are in trouble, and the “help” they give you, it’s not the one that a serious company would give to anyone.
