What could & should have been... ISN'T!?

I had been researching and thinking about getting a biltong cabinet for a couple of years.
Eventually I made my choice - a Kalahari Khabu KK12 in the UK.

1st off the unit arrived more or less as stated. Tried & tested with positive results for my first batch of Biltong. The unit is OK. Feels very "Chinese" in it's quality and flimsiness. Durability??? I'm not sure... time will tell.

HOWEVER in the online offer free extras where included - you guessed it - they were nowhere to be found. Annoying, but not a drama as I regularly make biltong so have everything. It's the principle of it - advertising free spices etc and not including them is a balant LIE! MISLEADING ADVERTISING!

I found the included documentation rather confusing as in most instances it referenced a KK11 model or something else. Warranty card was for a KK11??? But I have a KK12. JUST MESSY, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNNECESSARY.

I have reached out to the company in NZ on 2-3 situations via email and given the above issues and requested a remedy. NOT A WORD.

"THE MINUTE THEY HAD MY £££ THAT'S IT" is my gut feeling. Very disappointed as I had better expectations and hope.

At time of writing nothing has changed. No communication from the supplier.

At £329 I hope it doesn't have any issues into the future because based on my personal experience of their non existent customer service I think I might have some headaches, but I shall face that if & when it happens.

I find it so sad that they have obviously spent a lot of time and effort designing and developing a brilliant cabinet which seems fit for purpose and then they let themselves down with questionable quality and ZERO SUPPORT OR CUSTOMER SERVICES. NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOUR PRODUCT DESIGN IS IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUILD A QUALITY PRODUCT & GIVE SUPPORT TO YOUR CUSTOMERS THEN YOU WILL STRUGGLE. I don't know what has happened with the company.

Kalahari Khabu KKS-S

I bought the Khabu KKS-S which costs a massive £199.
The lid doesn't sit straight and there is a lot of play. I expect better for the price.

I think its fair to say the sales experience was Ok. I wouldn't say it was great. Needs polishing. Telling people that it can take 4 day for the tracking number to update on DPDs website. Sorry try again. It's 2026. Get with the program or get a new courier.

The product support is poor. I have asked questions about the product, but due to time zone difference between UK and New Zealand the responses are very slow as in ask today maybe get an answer tomorrow, or you simply don't get one. Either way its poor.
The product does the job. I like it a lot as cutting biltong by hand is a tedious job. I feel I could of got a better one for a little bit more and am considering returning it because its is so poorly manufactured for the price. And Warren won't answer questions.
Finally the website is poorly designed and you can't see the menu's in Chrome, Edge or firefox. Overall its like dealing with a startup company that has a lots of issues to resolve.

Dont expect what you pay for

Bought a 12' manual meat grinder based on the photos they use on their website and received a much smaller one of 8'. Contacted the owner to sort it out and he was not interested - "Im too busy".
Apparently the Consumers guarantee's act doesn’t apply to this man. Dirty business practices being used here.
Reported to the commerce commission.
Avoid if you can.

Highly recommended

We werent sure which biltong dehydrator to buy and cautious about buying online.

Researched for a phone number and after talking we ordered.

KK12 arrived a couple of days later and its a great product from a good company.
