Disappointed, sadly...

I placed an order on 12/21 and received an email on 12/28 that i canceled my order and that a refund would be issued. I neither canceled my order or received a refund. I have email, sent messages over instagram, and have called and have yet to get a response.

Bad business practices stay away

If I could give zero stars I would.Ordered over$200 worth of merchandise.I returned 2 items from my order,and sent e-mail letting them know I was sending back some items .I got their shipping label and mailed items back.USPS says company received my items on Nov.20th.as per their website I should receive my refund with 2 weeks.I have been e-mailing them requesting a refund and now they have stopped corresponding and have ghosted me.

Placed my order on December 3rd

Placed my order on December 3rd, items were preorder. My order was canceled on 27th of December.They said it was at my request and my money was refunded. I never canceled my order and my money has not been refunded. My emails were unanswered and phone was always busy. First and last time ordering from this ccompany.Do not order from this company. They are a bunch of scamming thieves.

Do not order anything from this…

Do not order anything from this company. I gave them 1 star because thats the only way I could leave a review but the don'tdeserve not one star.. I ordered something 11/13/24 & haven't received it nor a refund. I was to receive in 5 to 7 business day. I have reported them to the BBB.

I should’ve read the reviews before I ordered 2 pairs of boots from this company! I had ordered some boots from here in November and they never came. I reached out to them mid December. Kelly Obi customer care sent this long message stating that the boots no longer were in stock ( even though I ordered them on pre-sale) and they will gladly refund my money. Well today is 1/2/25 and it states the money is refunded on their end but they never sent the money to my credit card! I try to be supportive to this black business because the clothes and shoes are very nice but this company is a scam! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE!

The disappointment…

To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’d been in constant communication with this brand advising them that I hadn’t received any information relating to my pre-order done October 31, 2024. They graciously responded in early December stating issues with the warehouse and monies were refunded. I waited two weeks, still no refund and decided to follow up. That email has yet to be responded to, however, I did get a mass email last week regarding a fire at the warehouse and monies have been refunded. I’ve still not received that refund, This has been the absolute worst online purchase experience I’ve had by far. Because of the lack of communication and bad business practices I’m no longer interested in patronizing this business ever again. I hope the monies this company has essentially stolen from consumers is worth the ramifications that are awaiting.

DO NOT SHOP HERE

DO NOT SHOP HERE. Customer funds are being held with no resolution:

- Order placed: Nov 7, 2024
- Dec 28: Mass "cancellation" email
- Jan 2: No refund received
- Order still shows "awaiting shipment"
- Multiple emails unanswered
- Chat messages ignored
- Gift card/store credit invalid
- Customer service non-existent

Previous delays were attributed to inventory issues, then a warehouse fire. I chose store credit twice to support this business. Now funds are held hostage with zero communication.

Save your money and shop elsewhere. Business is not currently operational despite actively taking orders.

Kelly Obi Ghosts her Consumers

Many things went wrong. I ordered twice. Once in November and once in December. Each order was “hanging” and zero processing or shipping updates. Then on 12/17 I get a weird email from a Russ who informed me that due to quality control issues, my order was cancelled. Never once offered to re-order. It’s been over two weeks and zero refund. Now let’s jump to December 28 where “the” Ms Obi sends a pathetic email announcing that ALL orders placed between October and December were automatically cancelled due to a warehouse fire!?!! Now, I’m due a second refund. But as Ms Obi stated in same email that she fired her entire customer service team, who in the heck is handling anything? She apparently can’t respond to emails let alone properly manage anything. Where is Kelly Obi?

SCAMMERS

Is anyone ever going to address my REFUND!!!
I guess I have to report this to consumer affairs!!!!
SAD 😢- that YOU are going to hold on to our money & act like we never existed!!!!
You started your company back up like you didn’t SCAM A whole lot of PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!
In your so call newsletter update YOU stated YOU sent refunds. I have YET to receive mine!!!!!!!!!

It pains me to write this review…

It pains me to write this review as I’ve been rolling long with these ladies since they were Seouk & Sepia. When they came back as Kelly Obie, I was beyond excited and ordered and received all of my items up until 4th quarter of this year. Something happened. Now I eventually got everything but ordered back in October. I pray that you all can fix this and get back on track as your offerings are very unique and the prices were amazing. My only recommendation is that in business you never go ghost. You do better delivering bad news vs no news at all. Be well and #standonbusiness

Just filed BBB Complaint

Just filed BBB Complaint. Do NOT shop here. They are about to go out of business. I ordered 1 time (took 2 months to get) and had to return an item bc it was too big. Fine, i opted for store credit and they gave extra $20 if I did. After getting a digital gift card via email i ordered a couple more items on 11/12/24 and paid an extra $16 on my debit card. As of 12/29 the order was cancelled and a regund was given back to the gift card and debit. Now the kicker here is when I finally found the email with the digital gift card and click check balance it says its an error. Then I lost my debit card in Nov also so its invalid. I replied to them very frustrated with no response yet but a sob story email comes about all their issues their having.... if u have any sense do NOT buy from them! I should have listened to the reviews smdh.

Would give 0 stars.... Ordered two necklaces November 30th 2024 and this morning I received this email:

Your order has been canceled
Order #60626 was canceled at your request and your payment has not yet been refunded.

I didn't cancel my order, I haven't received money back nor the necklaces. I EMAILED THEM AND STILL NO REPLY. THE NECKLACES I ORDERED ARE STILL FOR SALE SO THE LEAST OWNERS CAN DO IS REPLY OR REFUND ME.

I have been trying to return a jacket…

I have been trying to return a jacket for over a month. Get return emails about how busy they are and they’ll get back to me. This feels like they are going to file bankruptcy or go out of business. Emails about supplier issues usually says they aren’t paying their bills. Also reporting to NJ state attorney general office, division of consumer affairs.

I spent $1,500 on trash made in China

I received the following email from Kelly Obi:

I want to take a moment to address some of the frustrations many of you have experienced with your orders. First and foremost, I deeply apologize for the delays and lack of communication during this time. As mentioned in prior updates, a fire at our supplier's warehouse significantly disrupted our operations, causing unforeseen delays. While we initially believed we could resume normal operations within a few weeks, this was not the case.

To resolve this, we have parted ways with the previous supplier and partnered with a new one that we are confident will meet our fulfillment needs. As part of this transition, all orders placed between October 24 and December 27 have been canceled and refunded. If you'd like to reorder, please do so at kellyobi.com, and as a token of our apology, we're offering a a free pair of earrings along with your order. Just use the code GiftKelly.

I completely understand if you feel hesitant to shop with us again after this experience. Please know it was never our intention for orders to take so long to fulfill. Unfortunately, we found ourselves caught in a challenging cycle that we're still working to overcome. Additionally, I had to make the difficult decision to lay off our customer service team, which is why communication has been lacking.

Running a business is incredibly hard, and I've experienced my share of setbacks, including past ventures that didn't succeed. I'm sharing this not for sympathy, but because I want to be transparent about why I build these brands. They are born out of love and my deep passion for creating digital experiences for women of color.

Trust me, i've wanted to quit many times, but as much as many time as I've wanted to quit, God's vision for me keeps pulling me forward.

Here was my response:
I bought clothes from you last year for about $1,500 in total. Most of what I received I had to return because it was in such poor quality. What I kept, has broken very easily. I am not a woman of color, and yet I supported you. You really misrepresent women of color and you should be ashamed of yourself. All of this backlash is justified. And where are the receipts of this “warehouse fire” to prove that you’re speaking the truth. Also, I know that most of your clothes come from a supplier in China where they pay children pennies on the dollar to make cheap clothes, so don’t to be wholesome or providing jobs to women of color because are nothing but a scammer.

AVOID KELLY OBI AT ALL COSTS!!!

Ordered a necklace from this store via…

Ordered a necklace from this store via the Shop app in late December, day before or after Christmas, I think, but today, early on the 28th, I get an email cancelling my order " at my request" (what????) and the store has disappeared from the Shop app. Mysterious....and infuriating.

The clothing that I ordered arrived…

The clothing that I ordered arrived 2mos after I ordered it. Everything is thin and cheap or does not fit. I requested a return per their policy on Dec 7, it is now Dec 27th. No one has helped me since. I had to file a claim with my bank to get my money back. Never again!!!! Don’t do it!
