A must-visit for any whisky lover 🥃

Tucked away on the rugged west coast of Islay, Kilchoman Distillery offers something genuinely special — an intimate, authentic whisky experience that feels both personal and proudly traditional.

From the moment we arrived, the welcome from the team was exceptional. Every member of staff was warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do — it set the tone immediately for what turned out to be an outstanding visit.

Our tour was led by Craig, who delivered a clear, engaging, and easy-to-follow walkthrough of Kilchoman’s unique barley-to-bottle process. What really stood out was how effortlessly he brought each stage to life — from the malting floors right through to the final dram — without ever overcomplicating things. It felt informative without being overwhelming, which is a rare balance to strike.

Kilchoman’s status as a true farm distillery adds a richness to the experience. Seeing the barley grown on-site and understanding the full production journey right there in one place gives a deeper appreciation for every sip.

And then, of course, the whisky itself — bold, characterful, and unmistakably Islay. Each dram felt like a reflection of the landscape around it.

Without hesitation, this was the best distillery tour I experienced on Islay — and honestly, one of the best I’ve had anywhere to date. Kilchoman doesn’t just show you how whisky is made — it makes you feel part of the story.

A must-visit for any whisky lover. 🥃
