Excellent customer service
I've had my Kirby so long I don't know how old it is. I have today received excellent customer care. The Kirby wasn't picking up properly, I rang up and the mechanic came out the same day. I pay into a maintenance plan - he mended it and replaced the belt. For me, the Kirby has been a good investment.

Kiry came to Romania! They are doing door to door Demos and they come to our 2 room apartment trying to sell us a 2400€ vacuum! No offence, the product seem nice but for this rate?!? Taking in consideretion that the medium salary here is around 450€ a month, i Say it is very expencive product. The demo took around 1 hour and they cleaned 1 carpet for us. From the 1hour presentation i think that 20 minutes he kept pushing and would not leave trying to sell the product. We got it down to 1900€ for the product he was doing Demos with but it was still too much. They would have also accepted a 100€/ month rate until you would pay it. Thankfully i was decided not to spend that kind of money as i realised that our child needs a hearing aid which is arround the same rate, So i realised that i do not need the vacuum! However be careful as their sales techniques are very pushy and insistent. Just Tell them from the begining NO and that is it.
Service guy 2 hrs late & frightened children
Service guy came at 8pm 2 hrs later, then took advantage of my hard of hearing parents, they misheard the price of a fan. Changed a part that we didn’t think needed changing, we asked him to put the original one back on as it is our risk to take if the “damaged” part does ruin other parts of the machine.
He said he would then charge us for 2 services!!! Instead of 1, I heard shouting my children were getting frightened, it was a disgusting customer service, we then asked for the “damaged” fan and technician refused until I told him that it’s our property and we had paid for it.
He reluctantly gave it to us.
Kirby sales practices
Kirby saleswoman came to my house for a demonstration. After she was finally finished she wouldn't stop pressuring me to purchase. When I was unable to she asked the other party in my home to put it in their name. I've 3 rotar cuff surgery's and a knee surgery and I am unable to push this vacuum as it weighs a ton. I've contacted corporate on their sales policies and practices. I've literally gotten nowhere. I've sent them proof and more proof that we're unable to use the vacuum which was missing parts to begin with. You have 3 days to return which we didn't know. You 9 months to fight to return. I have as I said done everything they required. They are now not accepting the medical records from the 2 of us. The sales person was far too pushy and would not leave without a purchase. I literally had no choice but for a family member to purchase in my name. When I was unable to make a purchase she should have dropped it and didn't. She wouldn't leave my home. Buyers Beware you are stuck as corporate won't abide on their end. Bad business practices they have.

Kirby??? Good product but shady sales techniques
I attempted to sell Kirbys but was appalled at the sales force and the distributor as well. I could not put pressure on housewives like was expected. I wouldn't stay for hours in a house like I was expected to. The product is complicated for some to use but I own one still today. Avoid the sales people and get your Kirby online but only if you have had a Kirby before and know of all of the nuances that come with it and with the accessories.
Scam company
Scam company. Do not treat their customers well and do not pay staff. I'm still waiting on payment but the way the company is set out kirby takes no responsibilty. Should be illegal for them to be allowed to operate.
Absolutely brilliant product but the…
Absolutely brilliant product but the staff are so rude. I have got a Kirby Avalir and I rang up to see if they had a part for my Kirby. They said that they didn’t have any in stock. They then tied to sell me a new Kirby! I’ve already spent £1800 on my machine last year. The Kirby is brilliant but it’s to heavy so I will be buying a new dyson unfortunately.

Harass Pensioners
Came to service my 79 year old mother in laws vacuum then intimidated her for 4 hours trying to pressure her in to buying a new vacuum. I had to phone and tell him to get out the property or I’ll be round. Tried to complain to the company but they just ignore you.
I’ll be sat waiting next time they come. Horrific company!!!
Old fashioned product that does a good job, but terribly agressive after sales
There is no doubt that the Kirby vacuum does a good job, although it is better suited to larger houses and nowhere near as easy to use as more modern cleaners. Changing accessories is a chore and the machine is heavy.
However the big problem is the aggressive pushing of the after sales service contracts. They will not leave you alone, persist in ringing even when asked not to and generally want to charge so much for an annual service that you could replace the cleaner with a new (cheaper) brand ever few years anyway, which rather negates their arguments about longevity.
It may well be Kirby agents doing this rather than the actual company but in any case it is a pain.
