Last week my friend and I flew to Rhodes with tickets through Kiwi and we are deeply unsatisfied with the experience as well as the customer service.
We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare and check in. We were unable to use the check in machines as our booking number could not be found. When we went up to the service desk they said the same thing and after scanning our passports they could tell us that we were not on the passenger list at all.
We called customer service and the guy on the phone was not helpful. Initially he kept stating that everything was correct and just sent a confirmation message for us to show the airport staff, which didn’t change anything as they still couldn’t find us on the passenger list. This was dragging on for a very long time and it was cutting closer and closer to boarding time.
After a while he stated that he tried to contact SAS customer service but that they do not open until 9am so he sent an email and stated that he would wait for them to reply. However, as our flight was at 5.20am this would automatically mean that we would miss the flight. We were not happy with this and kept insisting that he has to fix the problem. The woman at the check in desk stated that this has happened before and if everything really is correct from Kiwi’s side then he should be able to check us in and give us the boarding passes and everything would be solved, however he would not do this. After this, he just said that we had to solve the problem ourselves by finding new tickets on our own and later send in a request for this to be reimbursed. But we did not give in to this.
Finally after we passed over the phone to the staff member at the airport and she was being firm and also telling him to fix the problem he agreed to buy us new tickets. However, as we had already been on the phone for over 1.5 hours at this point, we had missed the flight and he could only book us un a flight that left 7 hours later. If he worked quicker this could have been avoided as the woman at the airport stated several times that they had free seats on the flight and we could have made the flight if he bought those tickets. The flight we had booked was a direct flight whereas the new tickets took several hours longer with a lay over in Finland.
Overall, we ended up waking up in the middle of the night for no reason, we had to spend over 9 hours at the airport, we were unable to eat properly due to the new flight timings and we lost a full day of our holiday as we were supposed to land at 10.00 but instead landed at 20.30.
Again, we are deeply unsatisfied with the entire experience. We have contacted Kiwis customer service with a complaint and required a compensation. However, it’s been two weeks and yet no answer…
We do not recommend Kiwi whatsoever!
