Reece Maclaren has not paid his…

Reece Maclaren has not paid his invoices from March 2018 totalling £5258.48. He has refused to take calls and has tried to have his company struck off. He is not someone to do business with being dishonest and untrustworthy.

Very professional COWBOYS

Very professional COWBOYS
We have been conned not only out of our money but also with absolute negligent work that is not only unsafe but hazardous! Reece and his team should be locked up for what they do to people! After getting a second opinion we have no choice but to start from the very start as their work is below the belt, they create uneven floors, roofs that leak! Don’t trust this guy to take any measurements let alone add up anything cos it will be all wrong!

Do not trust them please please!

Totally unreliable and poor quality

We contacted Knight Home Improvement at the end of July to replace tiles in two small bathrooms in our flat (total <5 sq m). The initial engagement was very prompt and professional. They booked and held a tentative date for the works to be done, while they attended the property to confirm the quote and we were prepared to pay the deposit. On the day of the works, around 8am we were contacted to be told that the builder had had a personal emergency and wouldn't attend.

An alternative date was agreed and we were reassured that they will do their best to finish in one day. On the day of this appointment, at 8:30am we chased for a time of arrival and were told that the builder is stuck in traffic. At 11:30am the builder was still not on site and we chased for an update. Around noon, the company director Reece Maclaren called to apologise, offer a discount and ask us to pick any other day for the builders to attend. Given we had already taken two days off work for the previously ‘failed’ appointments, the only option for us was a Saturday, which Reece agreed to get organised.

On the agreed Saturday, the builder (Felipe) arrived around 9am. By the time he left, he hadn't finished even one of the bathrooms and walked away leaving us with unfinished tiles and a toilet that couldn't be used (as it wasn't attached to the floor/wall).

As we had guests staying - not having a functioning bathroom was going to be an issue. After some chasing and insisting, we got a confirmation that two people will be on site on the following Saturday. The standard of the work done by Felipe and the other builder that showed up on the day is truly sub-standard:

1. They didn't bring anything to cover the rest of the flat to minimise the dust and dirt and also didn't bring anything to clean the mess with. They ended up using a number of our toilet rolls to do the post-works clean and flushed it down the toilet, consequently entirely blocking it. We had to have a plumber in to get this resolved.

2. They broke one of the toilet seats and replaced it with something of such poor quality that we've had to purchase another one to get the same standard as before.

3. They didn't re-attach the door-stop, meaning that the door handle could easily damage one of the walls.

4. They didn't check that one of the doors actually cannot be opened/shut without a lot of force (and noise) and has scratched the tiles underneath.

5. 15cm skirting board was removed, with a promise that it would be replaced later. It hasn’t been.

6. Though all the materials were included in the quote, we ended up having to go and buy a replacement threshold for the one that Felipe had broken when removing it.

On the day, Felipe acknowledged the snags and committed to return one evening that same week to get this all sorted. It's now been a month of very frequent chasing and we still don't have a resolution. Nobody at Knight Homes is responding (including the Director - Reece) and Felipe himself has refused to come back until Knight Homes settle some outstanding payments due to him.

In the meantime - we've spent a lot more money and time on this than was expected and are stuck with a very sub-standard finish in our bathrooms. Avoid this company and individuals at all cost!

A pleasure to deal with

A complete cosmetic refurbishment was carried out on my home to a high standard and in a timely manner. Reece was always on the other end of the phone to answer any questions and would always hold his hands up and redo anything I wasn't happy with (which was a breath of fresh air)
Would highly recommend

Kitchen and bathroom redecoration

Reece and the team went above and beyond to have my kitchen and bathrooms completed within the allotted time specified. The work was immaculate with a few snagging issues which were rectified straight away with no hassle. My wife and I are planning on extending our property in the new year and will be using Knight homes as we are happy with their quality of work. Highly Recommended!

A builder who delivers!

I recently had Reece and his fantastic team complete a full redecoration of my home in Marylebone. The job included new wallpaper throughout, skirting, cornice, doors, a new utility room, 3 new marble bathrooms and the list goes on. I cant speak highly enough of Knight's professionalism throughout the job, from quoting to completion and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again on the next job or recommend them to friends. Finally, a building company who actually delivers on what they promise.

My new kitchen

I was desperate to have a new kitchen fitted into my new home, but being a single mum I was very wary about letting a group of men into my house. I was recommended by a friend to use knights and I wasn’t disappointed.
The director Reece was professional and thorough throughout, and offered a very fair quote.
The chaps who carried out the installation were very respectful and tidied up after leaving every evening to make living throughout the process more than bearable.
The end product is amazing and I am thoroughly enjoying my new kitchen :).
