Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the durability of various products, noting that items like dog collars, tennis balls, and other toys broke or were destroyed very quickly, often within minutes or hours, even by puppies or dogs not known for aggressive chewing. People frequently found that the products did not live up to the advertised claims of being long-lasting or durable. A recurring issue for many was the difficulty in contacting the company for support or warranty claims, with reports of unresponsive customer service and non-functional email addresses. Some customers also experienced problems with product quality, such as squeakers failing quickly or toys posing potential safety hazards due to small parts detaching.

Surprisingly Awful Waste of Money!

This company is clearly trading off its earlier reputation, but no longer living up to it.

We bought a Kong Gyro for my small dog, who has separation anxiety, and every time he played with it, after about ten minutes, the ball in the middle came apart, and all the treats came out, so the dog immediately went back to barking and crying. I left a camera running, so I know he was not "mis-using" the toy - he was just pushing it round the floor, but no matter how tightly I screwed it together, it just kept coming apart. Not fit for purpose. And despite Kong blowing its own trumpet about its customer service, it never responds to any emails!

So all in all, rubbish products from a rubbish company.

Disappointing Experience with Product…

Disappointing Experience with Product and Customer Service

I recently purchased a Kong dog toy for my 6-month-old, 13lb Miniature Schnauzer puppy, expecting the perceived durability and quality the brand is known for. The ‘Kong Core Strength Bow Tie Sm/Md’ was marketed as light/moderate chewing. Unfortunately, in under two days, the toy was disintegrating posing a threat with injestion and therefore was removed from our pup.

I contacted Kong’s customer service to request a refund or replacement, as the toy clearly did not meet the advertised durability. However, I was informed that since a 15% senior discount was applied to my total purchase (which included multiple items) by the pet store that we purchased the item from, Kong considered the toy “covered” by the entire discount I received for the whole multiple item purchase as it was close to the retail price of the toy and refused to issue a refund. This reasoning was both confusing and disappointing, as the discount was a general promotion applied by the retailer, not compensation for a defective product.

I reached out to Kong once again to explain the situation, hoping for a resolution, but Kong remained unwilling to assist. It’s disappointing to see a company with such a strong reputation fail to stand behind their product or value their customers.

I’ve been a long-time customer of Kong with two previous pups but this experience has made me reconsider. There are many other pet brands that prioritize product quality and customer satisfaction, and I’ll be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

If you’re considering purchasing a Kong toy, be aware that their customer service may not be as supportive as you’d expect should you encounter any issues. I would strongly suggest that if you purchase Kong items when the retailer is offering a senior discount or other, make sure each Kong purchase is on its own individual receipt which may provide a gateway for a claim from this company if necessary.

Kong is going nuts with them prices

Kong is going nuts with them prices. Literally a toy that cost 8€ before, now its price is of 20€. So, back when you used to do a trimestral purchase and you used to spend 30-50€, now you'll have to spend more than 100€ for the same products! It's so disgusting and sad what they did... I am starting to think they don't know that not everyone with an animal is rich, even if we were, that would be a waste of money.

Plus, not every toy is "indestructible", not even the "extreme". Frisbee is a waste of money, it literally broke in 24h, so did other toys... But anyways, not that its price is gold, it don't matter anymore, not buying never again.

Only ball that do not break

My dog loves kongo, the only bal that he cannot break, he always sees (colour) and brings him a lot of activity. Perfect toy and there sustainable as the normal balls I have to buy 50 a year now only 5 (because other dogs in the park takes that 4 spare balls with them 😅)

Disappointed in the Kong products

We have brought 5 or 6 kong balls in the last year which our dog chewed them apart in 10 minutes after we gave it to her. She's an American Staffordshire Terrier and she's 11/2 year old. My grandson has 2 dogs the same as ours. He gets for his dogs all the time and said they are great but my dog chews them apart. We are very pissed. Thought they are indestructible?

CHOKING HAZARD. POOR PRODUCT. DISINTIGRATES WITHIN A DAY.

Small dog, dachshund 10months.
Kong squeaker toy fell to bits in a couple of hours.
Dog was violently ill after consuming synthetic parts.
Kong stated that we should ‘continually watch the dog’ at all times.
This is not a safe product. Small dog. Not a strong jaw. Unsafe pet product. Caution advised.

Kong Gyro Ball and poor customer service

Bought a Kong Gyro ball and a pack of two Kong balls for our dogs for xmas. The Gyro ball lasted 30 minutes only so I emailed Kong. Was basically told that only their rubber toys are guaranteed and ones made of a mix of plastic and rubber have NO guarantee. Nothing on packaging to say it wasn't wholly rubber. Looked like rubber and felt like rubber. Also told that I have a "tenacious chewer". Within a week both the balls also broken so replied to their email informing them of this and also quoting "fit for purpose". No reply whatsoever. The original Kong toys were great but it seems that now they are compromising on quality though certainly not on price! Won't be buying Kong again...very disappointed both with quality and also customer service.

I bought 3 products from Kong

I bought 3 products from Kong . Not cheap. Had a fox last 6 weeks , a giraffe 3 weeks and a squirrel 3 hours. I politely emailed them to ask for a replacement. Was met with they are not guaranteed and a dog must be supervised. That’s their small print on their advertising.
Completely misleading. Funny how when you ask a company for help with a product you find out their true nature. They obviously don’t care about customer service. Would buy cheaper options and stay clear of these charlatans!

Extremely happy with the outcome of this and would buy their toys again.

Strong and durable! Thank you KONG

My labrador is very rough on his toys (everything is destroyed within a few minutes). His bone-shaped black rubber KONG, is his daily companion. My dog is 8 years old and we have had so far 2 replacements but they last for a good couple-3 years and these things are strong! Thank you KONG :)

A family member bought the kong gyro…

A family member bought the kong gyro for my french bulldog as a one year old gift I informed my family and friends that he is rough with his toys and to buy only good quality toys or so I thought they bought him the kong gyro and selected the size above required he was prepared with the gift and 15 minutes later it was destroyed and we had to physically remove a piece of plastic from his throat as he was chocking we contacted kong who basically said some dog are harder on toys than others and to supervise your dog playing with it and remove if getting rough just a cover statement who watches their dog play with it’s toys constantly for safe practice poor quality product and poor after care don’t waist your money
