On 01.23.2026, I took a Kosterina Olive Oil Shot and immediately felt glass fragments in my throat. I spat out the oil and visible glass pieces. The bottle was not broken; the glass came from the bottom or interior of the bottle. I required an emergency ENT visit and throat MRI, and lost a full work day. Kosterina's response: asked me to ship back all the bottles and offered to pay for the packaging and ground transportation.
Redirected me to their insurance company (The Hartford) instead of taking direct accountability, and so far, the answer is that they continue to evaluate what happened to the bottle.
This appears to be a significant manufacturing issue with real physical consequences. I have not yet observed a strong sense of urgency or direct communication from Kosterina about how glass entered a sealed product.
I have documented everything — bottles, medical records, and all correspondence.
If you are currently using Kosterina Olive Oil Shots, inspect your bottles carefully before consuming.
I gave Kosterina every opportunity, over several weeks, to resolve this privately. They chose silence.

I do not care for this company. Not at all. The products are mediocre at best, and the customer service from Peter Mountanos, the CEO's brother, is horrible. This is not what I expect from a small family-owned business. They bring shame to fellow Long Islanders. I have an allergy to oregano. As if that wasn't bad enough, they sent me twelve (12) jars of the olive variant with oregano in it. What are you trying to do—send me to the hospital? What do I do? I take time out of my busy day to read each ingredient carefully, take pictures of the boxes and incorrectly received items, and send them to customer service. Peter totally dismissed my situation and requested that I take another photo shoot of his olives. Guys, you're selling olive products, not high-end stereo equipment. Stop treating your customers like criminals every time your third-party fulfillment center puts the wrong olives in the box or mixes up an order. Shame on you!
