This company is an absolute fraud.

This company is an absolute fraud. They take advantage of small businesses. Avoid them at all costs. This company will promise good business practices until you sign on, then they will make unreasonable and unprofessional demands while holding your transactions hostage. Their "Risk" department will provide hurdle after hurdle while holding your funds and not verifying your business. This company actually asked for admin passwords and access to my website, wanted me to contact owners of my customer companies and ask them for customer service info for the credit cards they used! How is that professional? The communications they send you will not include the name of who you are dealing with. Because, all legitimate businesses have to hide their identity, right? I believe their goal is to steal as much as they can before you catch them, then hit you with fees when you cancel. With a little research I located a company that does the job right and have had smooth transactions ever since. Don't do business with EMS, they are just con artists. This company failed on every level to provide even the simplest service they were hired to do. Then, after being confronted with the fact that they had not completed a single transaction , demand outrageous fees to cancel the contract they never bothered to fulfil. I will be reporting them to the Dept. of Veteran Affairs to be added to the list of predatory and fraudulent companies, that way no veteran owned businesses will be their future victims. I will also be joining one of the many Class Action Lawsuits currently heading their way. Do yourself a favor, find a legitimate company to help with your transactions, EMS isn't the one.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. Hard to understand how they are claiming to have 5 stars on Google reviews - non-existent.

From customer service to basic communication, these are blood-sucking thiefs that will benefit themselves at your expense.

Trust the reviews here and don't do any business.

Stay away from EMS

Stay away from EMS. There are so many better options available.
I must say that my experience from the beginning with EMS Merchant has been the worst in the years that I have been in ecommerce.
EMS Merchant is a company with little professional ethics, they are not transparent in their activities, the associates, all of them, without excluding any, work in a deceitful and non-transparent manner.
Initially, when I completed my START application, they started sending me emails letting us know that our application had been approved, but they never mentioned that it was a temporary approval. After that approval, EMS Merchant begins to make its so-called Underwriten process (a process that you will never receive any notice of).
EMS Merchant starts collecting payments and that's where the odyssey with this company begins. They ask for documents from previous merchants, then they ask for access to our system because they don't accept documents, they ask for screenshots and then tell you no, they don't accept screenshots and finally, they ask you twice to gain time and to continue entering payments.
After waiting almost 1 month I decide to call to find out when the funds I have in the account are going to be released and Brittnay Brooks (a person who appears to have absolute charisma, but in reality it is only appearance) has hung up the phone just when I call to know when the funds are going to be released and also leaves the phone off the hook to not receive any more calls. After calling 5 times, someone I don't know who is, answers me and only to tell me that my account after more than a month of applying had not been approved and that my funds will be frozen for 4 months. I stopped receiving payments with them around 1 week ago, otherwise the amount of frozen money would be higher.
Communicating with someone in this company who treats you properly is an odyssey. Their activities are deceptive, not at all transparent, they manipulate information and keep you in a state of total disinformation.
In my life working in ecommerce I have experienced such an unpleasant situation. This company is plagued with a lack of professionalism and ethics. My recommendation, stay away, they are not an option at all.

Never trust these people. They will NEVER pay you!

I started with EMS on advice of authorized reps and it was my biggest mistake. First of all the, the whole process took over 2 months to complete. I started processing payments on them for a month which amounted to $11000. They NEVER ever paid me. They kept saying we need to verify your customers by calling them. This was the first red flag. I still kept giving them phone numbers of my customers. They kept insisting that your customers aren't replying and when I called my customer they said they have been waiting and not received any call.

Then instead of seeing payments into my account, I actually saw EMS trying to deduct $1,700 from my account for a supposed chargeback. They were CHARGING me BACK for a chargeback for which I was NEVER paid. They never paid me SINGLE penny in the entire 2 months I dealt with them. Now they say they will hold payments for 6 months and not pay me anything.

These guys are fraudsters and big time scammers. STAY AWAY from them!

Not cyber aware at all

I’m switching from PayPal to this merchant. We’ll, I was but not now. They keep asking me for my PayPal login ID and password so they can check my PayPal history to verify my PayPal activity. We’ll in this day and age of cybersecurity, NO ONE should ever be asking for your password to anything. This makes me think they don’t know how to be secure and how can I trust that?

This is a review for EMS Data & Payment Cloud

TL;DR: Stay far away from both. Don't just walk away, run as fast as you can.

Background. I'm a SMB owner and have been processing payments with Paypal and Stripe. I've never had any issues with them, but I've read horror stories on Reddit, etc. where these companies suddenly stopped providing services to other smaller companies based on whatever little information they had. And, there were no opportunities to make appeals either. Now, I understand that I do not know both sides of the story here, but it was a concern for me and I wanted to reduce my risk.

Payment Cloud: I did a quick online search and landed on Payment Cloud. The thing that's not clear from their website is that they are not a processing company, but more like "brokers" -- they do match-making with other payment processors. Their role is not very clear up until the very end when you're aske to sign the papers -- they try to not give you direct answers (and, I asked). They made me sign a lot of documents and explaining very little. For e.g. they told me that there's a $25/ monthly fee. They "forgot" to mention verbally that there are a whole bunch of other charges that bring this all the way up to $36 - more about this below in the EMS section. More importantly, they also didn't mention that this was somehow a 2-yr contract and there was a $500+ early termination fee!! It was buried deep down in one of the 6 documents I had to sign. It wasn't until after I got a bunch of welcome emails from EMS and Authorize that I realized that Payment Cloud was a broker and that now I have to manage accounts and logins with over 3 different entities to process payments and get paid.

Needless to say, It was a painful experience. However, the worse was yet to come.

EMS Data (emsdata.net): So, Payment Cloud matched me to EMS. It was not difficult to understand why. They charge a crap ton in nonsensical fees, apart from their regular $25 monthly fee. For e.g. this is a copy-paste from the statement. I don't even understand what these mean.

"MONTHLY 100K DATA & BREACH PROTECTION 6.00 MONTHLY ACCESS 25.00 VISA FANF 1.50 1.30 VS ASSESSMENT DEBIT 1.30 01 BATCH HEADER @.30 PER DEPOSIT .30 01 AVS .10 01 NAPF .02 01 VISA FIXED AUTH @0.25 EACH .25".

Before I was onboarded, there was a credit check on my account (which will stay for 2 years, just like when getting a new credit card or buying a house) and someone physically came to our place of business to verify -- which is something I was totally okay with.

Then, I had to sign up with Authorize.net -- turns out that EMS is yet another intermediary. Authorize processes visa payments. If I wanted to accept AmEx, I would've had to sign up for yet another service, which I didn't even bother to do.

Once I processed my first payment via invoicing, EMS informed me that they were going to call my end customer (!). It surprised me a bit since no one has ever done that before. In any case, I was OK with it, until they asked me to ask my customer to call them because they believe my customers was "behind a relay" (no idea what that means). I wasn't going to ask my customer (a very large, Fortune top 50 customer) to call my card processor out of the blue. We went back and forth many times and I decided this whole thing was a big mistake.

At this pt. I was done with EMS. I refunded the transaction and re-issued a new invoice on Stripe. However, I was still not done. For e.g. if original transaction was for $100, EMS after all the fees and holdback (oh yeah, they have a 10% holdback too!), deposited $70 to my bank account. When I issued the refund, they withdrew $100 from my bank account and it put my account into a large negative balance. The actuals are much larger.

My account has since been closed (it took over 1 month) and thankfully they did make an exception to my "2 yr contract" and $500 in cancellation fees. I still haven't seen the $1xx extra they've charged me already.

I called them a couple times and I was told that the card swipe fee will never be refunded, even though the full transaction was refunded -- this is so strange and not how any of the payment services work. And, the reserves, I won't see them until 7 months after EVEN though the account is closed and the transaction under question has been fully refunded -- in other words, there are no risk/ transactions on EMS system at this pt.

Authorize, net: This was honestly the easiest part of the whole ordeal. Very friendly folks and didn't play any games with me re: the changes or when asked to close the account.

Summary: Stripe and Paypal, despite their issues, are far FAR superior to Payment Cloud/ EMS or any of the alternatives out there.

This is the WORST payment processing…

This is the WORST payment processing fee you could imagine. Apart from extremely expensive processing fees, you will get ridiculous fees you don't know for what reason. For example I got charged today for $780 random fee. And when I am phoning them asking what is this additional fee you just took from my account they have no idea. Their team is extremely rude. They threatened to terminate my account. I told them please terminate and they say they will be a $595 termination fee. This is on top of the $3,000 set up fee they got a few month ago as set up fee. These guys will drown you in fee they even don't know what they are for. Stay away
