When is a Keller Williams agent not a Keller Williams agent? I don't have the answer, however a KW agent by the name of Eric Michael Obloy presented himself as a KW agent to me and my company under the pretext of being this hot shot business consultant and he would ramp up business very quickly so as to help us sell the business. I was not as vigilant as I should have been, since he came referred to us from another KW agent who was working with him. Long Story short, we paid him $2,500 so as to "get moving right away" with an agreement to follow. By now the pattern should be starting to emerge to the reader! He did absolutely nothing, zip! The worst of it is that he has next to no business knowledge, which only became truly apparent when I asked him what is happening with his Business Ninja persona. When I complained to him he promised to refund the money within a few days. This is after telling us over and over how successful he is, how much money he has blah blah. Now we have to wait for a refund! Weeks later he has gone silent and no refund.
I then contacted the brokerage Principle Janelle Laurenzano, who was originally sympathetic and sort of concerned but also responded saying that the agents are not permitted to offer "Business Consulting". However they are entitled to operate side business's that have nothing to do with Keller Williams. My response was her agent, Eric Obloy, presented as an agent, used a Keller Williams email address and never once used any other reference than Keller Williams. Now I am $2,500 poorer, and the actual perpetrator, Eric Obloy, is shielded by Keller Williams despite his misuse of their brand to deceive me and all of a sudden everyone is Pontius Pilate.
