**DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE**

**DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE**

I recently moved from California to Vancouver, BC with City Moving and it was the most frustrating, unprofessional process from beginning to end. I used City Moving specifically because they had a high rating on Yelp. BEWARE!! This is hands down THE WORST customer service I have received from any company, ever. Read through some of the negative reviews. I am not the only one. Moving is stressful enough, there is no need to make it even more stressful by using this company.

I had made my reservation and as the date to my move got closer, I called and asked what date I could expect my shipment to arrive. Shawn told me that he could not nail down a date for me (which is fine) but that it could take up to 45 business days for me to receive my belongings as it was being routed to New York first (!!!). I am moving up the West Coast, I did not understand why my things would need to be rerouted to the East Coast first. He also told me I would need to sign for my things at the border. I told him that was a ridiculous endeavor and that I would be taking my business elsewhere. A manager (Brady) called me a few minutes later and explained that the representative who was helping me was new to the company, apologized for the inexperienced representative and told me that he would be handling my account from now on. He explained that no, my things were not going through New York and that while he could not give me an exact date, most moves like mine take 2-3 weeks, not 9. I agreed to stay on as a customer. But never again heard from Brady. Shawn continued to handle my account.
I was quoted $2200 to move my small minimalist studio. I had a few more boxes than I had originally reported so I was expecting to pay a bit extra. What I was not expecting was a bill of $4700 that was presented to me after the truck was packed. At that point, I had travel plans and felt like I wouldn’t be able to find another moving company to pick up my belongings last minute so I had no choice but to pay the bill and use City Moving.
After the truck was packed, I began a road trip up to Canada in my own car. I got a call in the middle of my trip that there was something wrong with my payment form and could I please print out and fill out a new form. I was in the middle of the remote coast in northern California and had to take a 50 mile detour to find a library with a printer
When the driver was at the Canadian/American border, I was told that they had forgotten to give me a Declarations Form. They said they needed this form to cross the border. I had to find another library (thank you Public Libraries!) to print and send a form that I should have filled out a month ago.
When I met the driver at the customs border, I had to pay a $140 CAD “terminal fee” to store my belongings until the company could schedule my delivery. This fee was never disclosed to me.
When I was called to confirm my delivery date/time, I was told I had a balance of $998 that I needed to pay. I informed the customer service representative that I had paid my balance in full. I asked him to look into it which he said he would. That was several days ago and I’ve not heard back. I’m assuming it’s good?
My shipment took 6 weeks from start to finish which is less than the 9 weeks that Shawn warned me about, but almost double what Brady quoted me to keep my business. I slept on a camping mat for 6 weeks. Had I known that it would have taken this long, I would have made different arrangements.
When I started going through my belongings, I found significant damage on irreplaceable antique heirloom furniture even through they were packed in moving cloths.
The disorganization is laughable. I had someone else’s tv stand delivered in my shipment. I consider myself lucky to have gotten all of my own boxes delivered.
As I started unpacking my belongings, I discovered 3 half-empty soda bottles and a banana peel in one of the boxes that was packed by City Moving. Luckily the bottles didn’t leak and there was nothing in that particular box that could be damaged by soda, but that’s just disrespectful.

Do not use!

DO NOT USE!! WASTE OF MONEY!! Booking our move from NY to LA was easy and relatively affordable using this company. We also shipped a car. For starters, my window for the car pickup was 12pm-2pm and the driver didn't show up until 7:30pm. He did call and was very apologetic so I didn't mind too much that I had to wait around ALL DAY. The car also came promptly and arrived at our address in a little over a week.

Now for the moving truck. The pickup was easy and the movers did all the work which was great. They came on the 2nd of the month. I was originally told it only takes 7-10 days for the items to get to your destination but the company has 21 days to deliver items. This was 100% unclear and not made known to us until after we already left and tried to get updates on our truck. Point of contact was unclear and as it was mentioned to me (again, afterwards) that the person I was speaking with really had no idea when or where my truck was and gave incorrect information... for almost THREE WEEKS now. Then I'm told that the truck has been sitting in a warehouse for 7 days AFTER pickup and has not even hit the road yet. At this point I'm starting to think I'm getting scammed. This is just ridiculous.

I'm having difficulty now getting in contact with anybody who can update me. They say that the weather was bad in the east so they didn't send out the truck. Bull. The weather was bad for 2 days, not the whole week before where you left the truck full of $$$$$$ sitting there without telling us. Finally I called customer service today (19 days since pickup now) and I'm told that the truck is STILL IN NEW JERSEY WHATTTTTT!!!!!!!

Sean tells me, "It's 21-45 business days. That doesn't include the weekend."

Glad to know we just spend $3,300 for our belongings to sit in a warehouse. Do not use this company. It is a waste of money and terrible customer service.

Horrible and Unprofessional !!!!!!!!!!

After seeing the rating on web decided to go ahead with Citymoving, though one of my friend suggested should go with some national provider rather than some local vendor for move from WA to TX, but Still thought of going ahead with them. I suggest you please don’t do the mistake I did, these guys are horrible and most unprofessional.
But in contrast to the rating, there is service is totally unprofessional and a disaster. Means if have to give them rating on scale of 1 to 10 it would be -20 and after reading my experience you would feel am still generous enough. These guys don’t stay with their commitments, order for some goods for special packaging and paid for it, but it was never done. They don’t have the delivery address after informing them multiple times, they don’t know where you stuff actually is, called on Friday they stay your good is with us and is still not planned for loading, and Monday received a call that good is about to reach me next day 2000 miles away. And when the driver came for delivery he was asking for money to deliver the stuff into my house, else was threatening me to leave the stuff roadside.

To start with for the pickup was scheduled and was told that would be informed about what time the team is going to be there on the same day in morning. On pickup day as till 12 o clock didn’t received any info i called them up. The person talked to told me would get back to me in 20 - 30 mins. I waited for an hour and when didn’t received a call back, again contacted them, and again the same thing happened. And for third time when called the some other person picked and was giving the same response, i got out of my mind and had to get a bit rude with the guy. Then he said would call back in 5 mins and then finally i got information about the schedule. When finally the team came for pickup, there were 5-6 guys who wrapped up the stuff very fast, which was a good thing. But while placing the order i had requested for few items to specially wrapped and paid extra for the same. But when the team came in they didn’t have bubble wraps with them and i was insured that same thing would be taken care in the warehouse, but as a fact, it was not i got the stuff as it was picked. I don’t know what payed extra for.

Now I was asked by when would like the delivery to made to my address, so specified a date which was looking for, but later found that the date we suggest goods would be taken as reference and delivery would be done within 21days of that date. And the team is so unprofessional, they didn’t have my delivery address till date in their system. Though have informed multiple people multiple times about the address it need to be delivered to. Just that didn’t have a fixed delivery address at time of placing the order.

Now as i was waiting for delivery, had to go out of city for my work. So on Friday called up there tracking team and asked for where is my stuff and when should expect the delivery. The answer i got was the stuff is still with then in WA and would be delivered within 21 days after the expected delivery date. After explaining the person my situation n number of times and telling him about my trip, his answer was still same stupid within 21 days. I was supposing travel out on Monday but due to some issues it got delayed to Tuesday and had done my bookings on Tuesday. But later in day i get to know the delivery would be next day and had to cancel the tickets.

Best part of the story the delivery cam in a very long truck, which I feel these guys should understand should be difficult to enter the residential complex. As the roads are not as broad as highways. But after some rounds and circling around the apartments driver managed to get in the truck, after shouting at me, as if it was my mistake he is coming in a residential complex with huge truck. Then he asked me for payment of full order amount, which was strange as had already payed in full, but 1 dollar less (due to my miscalculation). Then it took half an hour to settle down that complete payment is done with 1 dollar pending, for which I payed him 20 bucks as didn’t had any change. After that he started asking me for 150$ to deliver the stuff to my house as its on second floor (which was covered under the contract). he threatened me of leaving the stuff on roadside and go if don’t pay him. I had to make number of calls to city moving to talk to them and asked them to settle the dispute with driver, for 1 hour this entire episode was going on, and then only driver finally delivered the stuff.

Now to get the receipt for the Order, it was always showing 1 dollar pending. I had to follow up multiple time, for the bill to be settled. And to get the receipt.

A Nightmare!!!

This has been a NIGHTMARE! If you don’t mind not getting your stuff on time, being ignored, treated rudely, not having your calls returned, & being charged for storage that you don’t need, go ahead and use this company. We used City Moving for our move from California to Hawaii. Even though City Moving was more expensive than other quotes we got, we decided to go with them because of their good reviews & assurance that we would be well taken care of. Unfortunately we are extremely disappointed. I'll start from the beginning…

My wife & I travel around the world & work as Christian missionaries. Because of our busy traveling schedule, we must plan things well in advance. We planned our whole year around this move. From the very beginning, we gave our City Moving representative, Michael, the specific dates on when we need to receive our stuff in Hawaii. He assured us that our dates wouldn’t be a problem & that if our stuff arrives in Hawaii early, it would be stored with no charge. With these assurances he won our business. Unfortunately none of his assurances came true.

Our pick up date was May 27 & our delivery date was July 5. We understood that it could take up to 45 days from pick up to delivery. Michael did not tell us that it was actually up to 45 days from the delivery date that we choose. Had we know this, we would have gone with another company because we only had 2 weeks to move in, before our next mission trip to California & Africa.

On May 27 they sent out 2 movers (Jim & Rolando) who did an excellent job of packing & moving our stuff. They get 5 stars! However, a few weeks later we received a $789 bill for storage fees. We did not ask for nor had any need for storage so we knew it had to be a mistake. We tried to call Michael, left messages, but he never got back to us. Its like once he secured our business he stopped all communication & simply moved on to the next customer. We finally connected with Tia (another manager) & explained the situation. She said that she would get back to us but never did.

When our delivery date arrived on July 5, we called City Moving to see what time the movers would arrive. We were then informed that our items were NOT SHIPPED & were IN STORAGE IN CALIFORNIA! We were told that because we didn’t pay the storage fees, they kept our items in storage. But there was no reason for our stuff to be in storage. Also, Michael told us that storage would be in Hawaii. Not in Cali! City moving acknowledged that they accidentally over charged us for storage. So they then reduced it from $789 to $195 and were waiting to receive this payment before they would release our stuff from storage. We had already paid them $3,868 & they didn’t ship our stuff because of a couple hundred dollars? What in the world? We talked to Tia for an explanation. She was extremely rude & was not hearing us out. She did not give any resolutions & said that it was our fault. Nor was she willing to check with Michael & told us that he was busy. Tia rudely insisted that we pay the $195 storage fee or our stuff would be kept in storage and not shipped. So we paid the fee for storage (we never needed) in order to speed up the process of receiving our stuff. But even after that they could not give us a delivery date. After many days of ignored & unreturned phone calls, we finally spoke with another Manager (Jeffery). He is the first person who actually listened, apologized, & got our stuff out of storage & on the next boat. He also assured us that the $195 storage fee would be waived & refunded (although we’re still waiting for that to happen). It’s now July 26 (3 weeks since we expected to receive our stuff) & City Moving still has not given us a definite delivery date.

Because of the incompetent & unprofessional management of our stuff, we have had to rearrange our detailed itinerary, cancel our Cali meetings, disappoint hundreds of people who expected us to come, waste many hours trying to contact City Moving, & have had to spend over $400 to cancel & rebook our flights in order to make our Africa trip. We feel like City Moving should waive the rest of our balance and at the VERY LEAST, cover the $400 of airfare changing fees.

Michael has never returned any of our calls/emails. Tia was extremely rude. The owner of the company, Arnon, gave us his personal number & seemed to be a reasonable gentleman. We spoke to him 1 week ago and he promised to look into our case & make things right. He even said that he would “treat us like his own family”. We spoke with him again yesterday & he still had not come to a conclusion on our case. He said he would do it & get back to us today. He hasn’t. We are still waiting. We are supposed to fly out to Africa next Monday. We hope & pray that we get our stuff before then. I will post a follow up review once we receive our items & see what City Moving will do to make this horrific situation right. I’m hoping there will be a happy ending to this nightmare!

IT’S COSTING US $400 TO SHARE THIS REVIEW. This is an updated review from my previous one. Let me explain… Our initial receiving date was the week of July 5. We finally received our stuff this past Thursday, July 28 (3 weeks late). Five stars for the moving crew (Rey, Joshua, Bryce) who moved all our stuff into our new place. They were helpful & respectful. We found that the movers on the frontend who did the work of packing & delivering our stuff were excellent. However, most of those on the backend that we spoke with over the phone were unclear, rude, dishonest, uncaring, unresponsive, and even threatening.

Please read our first review for the full background story. But here’s the short version: We only had a two week window in Hawaii to receive & unpack our stuff before flying to California for business, then on to Kenya for a mission trip. We shared this fact with Michael (City Moving Salesman). He assured us that our dates wouldn’t be a problem & that if storage were needed; it would be stored in Hawaii. Well, instead of shipping our stuff, City Moving stored it in California, held it there for over a month & then tried to charge us $789 in storage fees. We only found this out on that day we expected to receive our stuff (July 5). Thankfully they waived the storage fee acknowledging that it was a mistake.

But because our shipment came 3 weeks later than expected, we had to cancel our California trip completely, disappoint hundreds of people who expected us, & pay $400 to reschedule our tickets in order to make our Kenya mission trip. We felt strongly that City Moving should at the VERY LEAST give us a $400 discount since they gave false assurances of an on time delivery & made the terrible mistake of storing our stuff in California instead of shipping it to Hawaii.

After being ignored by Michael and treated rudely by Tia, we were finally contacted by Arnon (City Moving Manager) saying that he would look into our case. He promised “to treat us like his own family.” We felt good about that. But unfortunately we waited another week without any resolution. Arnon called on Thursday & informed us that they would deliver that day. He also said they would give us the $400 discount to cover the expenses of changing our airfare. However, Arnon explained that if they did this for us, we would have to either remove all our reviews or change it to a 5 star rating. They wrote up a settlement agreement that added this paragraph at the end: “I hereby release City Moving, its employees, agents and affiliates from all non damaged/loss related claims, and agree not to post any negative comments about City Moving, its employees, agents or affiliates on any internet sites, consumer groups or media organizations relating to moving or moving services or to file any complaints with any governmental or non-governmental agencies.”

They were basically trying to buy our silence. After showing this settlement contract to 3 of our close lawyer friends, they told us that it was unethical, unenforceable, and seemed to be illegal. So I shared with Arnon that we would adjust our reviews & give an updated review to describe what City Moving did to make things right and redeem the situation. But then Arnon made it clear that the $400 discount was only guaranteed if we completely remove our reviews or change it to a 5 star rating. He said, “Our greatest concern is the REPUTATION of our company.” When I shared my hesitation in removing our reviews, he then threatened to call the movers and tell them to stop the delivery & hold our stuff in storage as long as possible. Thankfully the movers still came that day with our stuff. But before they would unload it they asked us to sign the settlement contract. I refused to sign the contract. I refused to sell my voice & give up my right to share an HONEST review. Because of that, we had to pay the full balance & did not get the $400 discount. But at least we still have a voice to warn others. The main reason we decided to go with this City Moving was because they had excellent online reviews! I believe I now know why City Moving has amazing reviews. I wonder how many others sold their voice & changed their honest review for financial gain.

Even though we had to pay an extra $400 for the mistake that City Moving (Michael) made, I believe we made the right decision. I never want to go against my conscience. We don’t want what happened to us to happen to anyone else. My lawyer friend is looking more closely into this situation to see what else (if anything) can be done to help us. For now, we are just happy to finally get our stuff and move on with our lives without violating our conscience and being able to speak the truth to others.

Excellent service all the way from Maui, HI to Sweden!

I bought a big painting, 160 x 123 cm, while on Maui, HI and I wanted to get it back to Sweden, where I live. It is a very delicate oil painting, that could not be taken off the frame and transported as rolled up; it had to be transported "as is" in a big, sturdy wooden crate.
I searched online and finally found City Moving. Michael was very helpful and answered all my questions.

They picked it up in Kihei, Maui HI, where I was staying, on Feb 27th.There has been multiple people involved in this transport, all of them very helpful and efficient.
My painting has apparently travelled by air from Maui to Oahu, from Oahu to Los Angeles and from LA to Stockholm, Arlanda, SWEDEN,.where a Stockholm-based moving company picked it up and transported it to my home on April 5th.
They carried the 84 lbs box up to my apartment and helped me to open the box to get my painting out.
There was not even ONE single damage to the fragile painting even though it travelled halfway across the globe.
The whole time I was updated by Yaron on the whereabouts of the painting, which has been very nice to be able to follow its progress.
I am super happy with how it worked out.
If you have a "something out of the ordinary" you want moved between odd places, this company is very versatile, knowledgeable and eager to help!

Great customer service

Couldn't be happier with the entire experience. Moved from Culver City (parking issues) to the valley and everything went great. The movers were detail oriented and nothing was damaged.

Highly recommend.

City Moving experience

Great service all around. The movers showed up on time, carefully handled my belongings and finished before the estimated end time. The price was much lower than I thought it was going to be or should have been. I highly recommend this company and I will use them again.

My experience has been an easy transition from moving which can be very challenging, the crew especially Manny made this experience very smooth with professionalism, honesty and integrity.

These guys are the best! I was extremely stressed for this move and they were swift! Trying to meet my deadline and worked diligently with me. I left them to finish the work as I had other priorities and everything was in place and nothing missing!
So I write this review to share my experience. Manny was very compassionate with my circumstance and followed up with me the following day to make sure everything was right. I don't have time to write a review as moving with utilities and so forth but because they were incredible they deserve to be acknowledged for thier hard work!
