Home Purchase Experience

The process to purchase our home was surprisingly very straightforward. We worked closely with the estate agent and the Lagan team who were professional, accommodating and assisted us with all our many queries along the way. Jennifer Clarke in particular went above and beyond for us and kept us up to date with progress at every step - it was great to deal with such a personable and highly efficient person. The aftercare service has also been strong so far and we are thrilled to be fully settled in our new home.

Lagan homes

I moved into my new home from Lagan Homes in December and I am very happy with the entire experience! From the initial viewing to the smooth closing process, every step was handled professionally and efficiently. The staff was incredibly supportive, answering all my questions patiently and guiding me through the entire process.

The follow up customer care has been great and every query and issue has been answered quickly and dealt with efficiently.
I highly recommend Lagan Homes to anyone looking for a quality home snd a seamless home-buying experience.

Beyond delighted with our new home

Beyond delighted with our new home! The process was smooth and the team in Lagan Homes are very professional, responsive and nice to deal with. We can really feel the quality of the building and any minor issues that arose were dealt with very quickly. Great experience overall and would recommend Lagan to anyone considering buying a new home with them.

Experience with Lagan Homes has been…

Experience with Lagan Homes has been very positive. The dates given for inspection ready and hand over keys were exactly as they said it would be. We are in the house (3 bed semi D) awhile now and its performing as it should be. The ESB bills are as expected and it really has been a cosy home through the winter.
The estate is finished (all paths and roads) and looking well. The planting is mature looking.

We had a really positive experience…

We had a really positive experience dealing with Lagan Homes throughout the purchase of my mam’s house in Gort Mell. From start to finish, the process was handled professionally, clearly, and with great attention to detail.

The quality of the build is excellent — solid, well finished, and thoughtfully designed — and it was clear that pride is taken in the work. Any queries we had were dealt with promptly and without fuss, which made what can often be a stressful process feel very straightforward.

What stood out most was how approachable and helpful the team were, particularly in making sure everything was explained clearly and that my mam felt comfortable and supported at every stage.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Lagan Homes to anyone considering a new home. A great experience all round.

Quality Build With Reliable Support

I am very happy with my experience of Lagan Homes. The quality of the build is excellent, and the level of interior finish really stands out compared to other developers. In particular, features such as the bathrooms and interior fittings are of a much higher standard than what is typically provided with other developments I viewed.

There were a number of issues identified during the snag process. Some of these were resolved quickly, while others took longer or were not fully met until several weeks after closing. That said, the issue was eventually resolved and I found the customer service response time to be excellent, with queries acknowledged promptly and communication generally very good.
Any new issues that arose since moving in, have been dealt with efficiently and professionally.

Overall, despite a few minor challenges, I would highly recommend Lagan Homes. The build quality, guidance and support during the sale, aftercare once living in the home, and responsiveness of the customer service team have been excellent, and I am extremely happy with my new home.

First home in Meath

We have recently moved into our first home, this being a new build home from Lagan Homes. We couldn't be more happy with our experience and with our home. It is built to a very good standard and the Lagan team are extremely helpful, even after moving in the team will still help. Any issues or questions we've had since we got our keys have been dealt with in a timely manor.

We do wish we could have attended the first snagging of our home as there were stuff we picked up on the day of our second snag (first time we got into our house) that wasn't picked up on the first one and it delayed signing over the house.
When we attended our second snag we were allowed to bring in contractors to start measuring things up, which was a huge help for moving in! One contractor was stuck in traffic and couldn't make our time slot in the end and Jennifer kindly allowed them in on another day to do measurements and check the levels of our floors.

The whole team has been a huge help- We mainly dealt with Vicky and Jennifer and we really couldn't have asked for a better support when navigating the stressful process of getting our first home :) Big thank you to the team at Lagan Homes.

Highly recommend

We had a great experience buying our new home with Lagan Homes in Drogheda. The whole process was smooth and well organised from start to finish.

The staff were especially helpful — always friendly, professional, and quick to respond to any questions. They kept us informed at every stage and made the process feel straightforward and stress-free.

The quality of the home is excellent, with great attention to detail, and any minor issues were dealt with promptly and efficiently.
Overall, a very positive experience. We’re delighted with our new home and would happily recommend this developer to others.

Excellent

We bought our house from Lagan Homes in August 2025, our experience from start to finish was excellent. Jennifer was really helpful throughout the purchasing process and gave us much needed advice on many occasions. Since we moved in we have also had really positive experiences with builders etc. I would recommend Lagan to a friend!

So happy with our new home from Lagan…

We are so happy with our new home built by Lagan Homes. We bought a new build in Co. Kildare and we couldn't be happier with the experience. From start to finish the support we received was excellent. The team were always so helpful and kind to deal with. The build quality is great and the package offered was much better than other developments we looked at. Any snags and aftercare was dealt with promptly. I would highly recommend to anyone considering buying a new home.

Think twice

The experience of purchasing a new home from Lagan Homes (Republic of Ireland) has been stressful.

Echoing another reviewer’s comments, we were made to feel that our requests to repair damage caused by shabby workmanship were our problem, and that we were being awkward buyers for simply asking for issues to be put right. Would highly recommend you hire your own surveyor who is no way affiliated with this developer and perhaps not even local so you get a completely unbiased survey. Your surveyor will get to see your home before you do - Lagan Homes will not permit you to view the property before or at first snag (even though you are the paying customer). Take notes, dates, clear photos. Do not rely on developer photos as evidence of repair. Do not expect these to be put right first time around. In this regard, other buyers in the same development are/were in a slightly worse-off position than us.

We were made to feel our questions about the house, at every stage, were unwelcome, or not taken seriously. At handover, you will first be bluntly advised that cracks will appear throughout the house and that, nor other defects are their responsibility. There was no smile, no thank you for your valued custom. We felt like an inconvenience from start to finish.

There are other concerns, which we have omitted here, but hopefully this provides some helpful insight

What should have been an exciting milestone of purchasing a new home, turned into a disappointing experience, where they want your money and not your valued custom. The whole experience has created ongoing anxiety about the quality of our new home.

Buyers Beware: Poor Attitude, Poor Support. Expect to Fight for Everything

Posting anonymously because people need a realistic picture of what it’s like dealing with Lagan Homes in Ireland. The glowing reviews elsewhere do not reflect the experience we’ve had.

We dealt with one person from Lagan who made the entire snagging process exceptionally stressful. Issues were dismissed, minimised, or outright refused, even when they were completely obvious. Everything became an argument instead of an effort to fix genuine problems.

We weren’t allowed to attend the first snag, which already put us at a disadvantage. For the second snag — the only one we were permitted to attend — we were given a strict 45-minute time limit. Within that short window, we found multiple faults. Instead of simply addressing them, we were questioned about why they weren’t caught earlier and why were are raising them, and not the snagger, despite not being allowed to be present the first time. They seem to have a real issue with homeowners finding defects themselves, which makes no sense at all.

Most windows had scratches, one was cracked, the bathrooms had no seals, and more issues kept appearing. They hadn’t even completed everything from the first snag, yet acted as though raising anything further was unreasonable. We were rushed, pressured, and made to feel like a nuisance for pointing out basic defects. We received photos that are difficult to see if issues are resolved properly due to the nature of it being an image. In person there is different lighting and you can see things clearly. They also again deny you to be able to review their “fixes” before you hand over the money and get the keys. You begin to feel like as though any remaining issues were somehow our fault.

There is no pride in the workmanship and no genuine care for the customer. The houses feel rushed, and the attitude throughout has been dismissive and unhelpful.

What makes it worse is the wider context: in the middle of a housing crisis, buying a home in Ireland is a massive achievement. It’s something people work incredibly hard for. Lagan completely belittles that. They don’t care about what they deliver, they don’t care about the customer, and they certainly don’t care that people are spending a significant amount of money on these homes. As long as they get paid, that’s all that seems to matter. It’s heartbreaking that after fighting so hard just to secure a house in this country, buyers are then met with this level of disrespect and poor quality.

We are genuinely worried about future issues, because their handling of even basic snagging does not inspire confidence. There’s very little information about their work in Ireland, and the glowing reviews elsewhere do not reflect the reality many of us have faced.

Go into this process with your eyes open — expect resistance, expect to push, and expect to fight for things that should be standard.
