I called Lanes in Derby last week to arrange for someone to come out to unblock my drain. Josh arrived a few hours later and went above & beyond to get the job done. There was building material blocking the sewer pipe and it definitely wasn’t easy to move and retrieve. Josh was very professional and was determined to sort the problem. The staff at the Derby office have been incredibly helpful and friendly on the phone too. All in all a very positive experience and I would highly recommend.

We had blocked drains James Lesley came with his partner and fixed our problem he turned up on time, and promptly diagnosed the issue and fixed it, a very nice guy friendly and polite highly recommend.

From calling our insurer last night around 6 pm completing an online form to the insurer which was submitted around 7pm I then received a call from Lanes for Drains around 8 pm wanting to come out to unblock the pipework I agreed with the lady that it could wait until today 5th Jan 2024. Around 8.15 am today I had a call from Lanes saying an engineer was on his way . He arrived around 9 am and sourced the problem then he proceeded to carry out jetting etc of the drains It didnt completely clear and sadly his camera was in for repair, so called another crew with cctv onboard They arrived within 15 minute put their camera into the pipework and found the problem After some more jetting the blockage was cleared Well done Guys I dont know your names but great job Thank you from both of us 5 stars from us all round..

Great service from Lanes for Drains.
We had a blocked drain and couldn’t use the bathroom or kitchen. I waited in 2 days for another company and they messed me about, I managed to get lanes for drains and they turned up the same day at the time they said they would and fixed it in no time. Brilliant. Would definitely use them again.

Arranged through home emergency insurance (Hastings) great same day service. Jolly, polite fellow named Jay (Jason) turned up late evening job sorted quickly and efficiently. Thank you.

My husband dug out and found the drain had collapsed. Got in touch with their Glasgow Depot. They send out a man who took photo's of the parts required to repair it. He did not to arrange to jet the drain. The following day Tuesday I phoned the office to ask what was happening. No one called me back. Three times I call without getting a return call. Jamie who I spoke to said he had passed the messages on. He offered to send out a jetting team. I refused as my husband and I had no faith in this company. I phoned Drain Doctor and they came out in the afternoon and cleared blockage. They have also arranged to come and repair it. Did not want to gave them even one star. Surely for a blocked drain the priority would to jet the drain.

Messaged about a blocked drain and 2pm and by 9am the following day they were onsite and sorted out the issue.
Great service would use again.

We had an emergency call out on 21st Nov. Lanes arrived at approx 10pm and got our blocked soil pipe jetted out.
The engineer was Scott Riding - very professional job and as a civil engineer I was impressed with his attention to safety. Absolute top man.

After 2 calls and a email to this company they still haven't responded to my request

It was with absolute horror that we discovered that the old clay drain trap at the back of our house was broken and, as a result, we had water under our floorboards. We were in crisis. We called Lanes and they completely understood our situation and gave us their next available slot which was two days later, and a Sunday. The old trap was cut out of our concrete patio and replaced. I don’t suppose drains are ever beautiful, but James has made a real bonny job of ours. I am extremely pleased with all of the work done. An excellent job done super-fast. We are very grateful to Lanes for coming to our rescue in the way that they did. Hugely appreciated. I dealt with five people altogether in the course of the job and everyone was absolutely brilliant. My thanks to everyone in Lanes’ Aberdeen office for outstanding service in our time of need.

We had nothing to do with Lanes for Drains until they had to come into our house 10 days ago after trying to unblock our neighbours drain, picking the wrong pipe, and bursting into our dowstairs toilet. Of course they ended up in our downstairs loo after they got the wrong drain, as when they hit the Durgo valve at the end and kept pushing, it burst and the water from the unblocking took just started gushing everywhere. It sounded like a plane was landing in our downstairs loo!

The engineer was initially very apologetic and took pictures saying a plumber would come out. But since then we've been dealing with Donna in customer service and it's been nothign but a joke. Your immadiate response to the valve was that you can't send us a plumber because you don't have/know of any, and so we'd have to pay and you'll reimburse if reasonable? Never mind the damage to the cabinets!

We've sent 10 emails over 10 days, and the current position is that we'll need to go through our insurance company to get the valve and water damge to the cabinets fixed! Not your insurance, ours! You should'nt have been in our drains in the first place, and surely you can tell the difference between a blockage and the valve at the end! The fact that the stress and financial burden (excess and increased premiums next year) is being put onto us is truly disgusting. In the meantime my downstairs loo stinks, and i'm we're in limbo over what to move forward with.

I can see this ending up in small claims court which is utterly ridiculous for what it is. Your engineer made a mistake, as a company you should be prepared to stand up and resolve it. What on earth happened to customer service?

Update - we have been as far as we can with customer service and are now heading to small claims court. Apparently everything Is our fault! I absolutely advise you avoid this company.

I cannot praise this company high enough. The staff went above and beyond to help out when we experienced a blocked toilet in our small flat. Our landlord, Guinness Partnership , were being very uncooperative cancelling our 24 hour emergency call out on 3 occasions as they claimed they were awaiting a request from Lanes which had already been sent by Lanes. In the end they phoned Guinness and liaised on our behalf which resulted in the problem being solved. It was obvious that they cared more about our predicament than Guinness. When they turned up the guy was polite and professional. I highly recommend this company. They have the human touch.

Had a visit by Paul ,didn't ask his surname. It was to unblock drain (toilet) at my home.. I am not crazy about writing reviews ,but 'Yep' felt had to,I wasn't asked.I was in a very distressed state having no toilet for 5 days, and being very unfairly treated by a previous company too long a story to tell and ended up going through my insurance company 'Your Repair' who were excellent as well. Paul put me right at ease immediately that my drain would be sorted . He'd been on the Rd since early morning, up at 6 am and was 8:00 at night . He was efficient ,very kind ,highly knowledgable a very pleasant man indeed and gave me lots of advice. iVE SINCERLEY NEVER EXPERIENCED A TRADESMAN LIKE HIM.. A absolute credit to his company ... In no time problem fixed the problem ,cleaned up well after him.. A gem he was! Well done ,'Lanes for drains I am sure you can see I can't praise him high enough!Sure he was from Manchester branch .. communication was poor phone calls and emails not answered, multiple calls from me just to get in touch. Documents not sent, chasing them up.
Its been aprorox 5 weeks not got any results back.
people who came on site not sure what the were doing.
People i dealt wit were Mike White and Mark Scott.

After an ongoing issue with the drains on our road, lanes have been used several times by our landlord & they’ve always been professional & courteous. However the last experience was disgusting & rude.

Firstly, they’d parked across my drive while doing works, resulting in my partner having to park 50 yards down the street when she arrived home (they had their equipment & generator out of the van, so had no need for the van to still be blocking the drive)
Then 6 of them were sat on the steps down to our house & never even offered to move when my partner tried to come down the steps, resulting in her walking down a very steep grass bank.
Then I arrived home to plants I’ve been growing for months been trampled. After reviewing ring camera footage & even emailing the footage to customer service & the depot manager, showing the worker clearly walking up to the plants & purposely stamping them down, I’ve received no reply after my initial acknowledgment of my complaint(3 weeks & counting)

Such a shame that one team & in particularly one employee on that day could tarnish the good experiences we’ve had with these guys in the past. Very disappointing.

Had a blocked outside drain, my housing association used this external company to sort the problem. Had an appointment booked for the following morning (today) but actually received a phone call from them later that day (yesterday) to say they would be with me within the hour. The two lads to turn up were efficient and sorted the problem in no time. Great service!

Update: After making a formal complaint I have now received a full refund.

I asked for an investigation of a drain that runs from the front to the back of my house as we have damp coming up through the floor at the point where waste from an upstairs bathroom meets the drain. This company insisted on payment up front of c£350 for a CCTV survey which would entail up to 2 hours on the property. I paid as I had read good reviews here, and thought I could trust them. However, communication was poor - the lady in the office always seemed to be in some sort of meeting - with the result that I was not given confirmation of the visit until the day and no time of arrival other than before lunchtime. I was away from home that morning, but my adult children were in, so I made my way over. My daughter called to say they'd arrived when I was about 20 minutes away. To my surprise when I got there they had already left and had surveyed a drain - but the wrong one! When they tried to access the drain from the manhole they couldn't, and they said that it would be necessary to remove the toilet. So instead of waiting for me to arrive and make a decision on that, they went ahead and totally needlessly surveyed a completely different draing at the back of the house that couldn't possibly be the source of the problem, and that I had not requested to be surveyed. They have since been refusing to answer my emails. So basically this company cannot be trusted. They have no integrity and will rip you off and then ignore your communications. I will be making a formal complaint but wanted to let people know what they are in for if they book this company. Appalling.

Called the customer service line, for assistance with unblocking a toilet that the previous day a well known company which covers plumbing emergencies for insurance companies failed to clear and did not even arrive with correct equipment and left me in the same position as before they arrived, their advice was to call someone to remove the toilet and clear the blockage as they were " worried " they would possibly damage the toilet during the repair.

So I called Lanes for advice and assistance. The team explained the cost and I also explained I had to attend a hospital appointment later in the morning so time was a problem. The customer service team were great and sent a team to my property within the hour.

The team were very friendly and polite, used a cctv drain camera, located the object stuck in the drain at the back of the toilet and then removed the obstruction ( never use toilet rimblocks). No need to remove any fittings, pipes or the toilet. They arrived with specialist equipment to undertake the job with minimal fuss and no mess. Great service from the whole team at Lanes who cover the Nottinghamshire area. I would definitively recommend this company for any drainage problems. Rather than a certain company who have the name plumb but don't care, I will let you work out the name. Well done Lanes 👏 5 stars.
