Gather 'round, fellow gold lovers, for the tale of my expensive lesson! £130. I purchased Laura Bond's 9k solid yellow gold 8mm 18g hammered texture clicker hoop earring, expecting a lifetime of sparkle. Instead, my gold earring is heavily tarnished to a horrid, dirty copper colour.

This is the bit where I hope I can help others avoid the same mistake: if you have a tricky piercing like a daith, DO NOT buy this product or any under the label solid 9ct gold. It will tarnish and will need constant upkeep and cleaning on a regular (monthly) basis. My downfall was my own lack of knowledge on the subject: since 9ct gold is only 37.5% pure gold, the high copper alloy content means it will tarnish very quickly and require constant cleaning and maintenance to retain its shine.

When I emailed, Customer Service admitted tarnishing was normal but offered no solution beyond suggesting I buy their own £6.95 cleaning cloth. A true gold heist! Laura Bond, please put on your product page that solid 9ct gold needs attention and is high maintenance and not suitable for piercings that will need a professional to remove it for you while you clean it with a cloth.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a £130 ugly copper hoop to stare at.

purchased a stud for my helix. the longer screw head makes it easier to fit - still fiddly though. i also bought a hoop charm for my husband. the shop has so many beautiful things to look at. efficient delivery. its my 3rd or 4th time shopping here and i'll be back for more! thank you.x

As usual my Laura Bond experience was amazing, the most difficult bit was deciding which stud to go for. I decided on the tear drop shape as I’d been having snagging difficulties with my current flat helix stud. It did not disappoint, it was small and dainty and exceptionally smooth and my clothes no longer snag when I’m getting dressed. Thanks Laura Bond.

I really love Laura Bond. My new earring is the high quality I’m used to with LB and such a gorgeous design! I love the heart shaped back - it is so, so much easier to grip than other types, makes it a doddle to fasten and loosen. I don’t think I’m going to bother buying earrings from anywhere else.

I popped in to do some window shopping and to get a bit of advice regarding a pre-existing piercing. The ladies were so friendly and welcoming and were able to stretch an old piercing and fit a new piece there and then. They talked me through after care and I’m so happy with the result. Looking forward to buying my next piece!

Lovely ladies, fabulous service!

I just happened to pass by the shop and saw how beautiful it was from the outside and just had to go in. I had been wanting to change out a few pieces but could never find any that I liked. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. They helped me pick the most beautiful jewelry for my nose and tragus. They changed them out for me as well. Every moment of my visit was wonderful. I tried to go back a few days later but sadly they were closed.

Such a lovely experience getting a piercing in Laura Bond’s shop. The store is beautiful, the staff were all lovely and helpful, and my piercer made me feel looked after. Also a STUNNING selection of earrings for piercing. I will absolutely be going back for more in the future.

Gorgeous jewellery. I had a newish piercing and it had been inflamed so I wanted a flat back stud. I found a lovely piece and had it fitted and the inflammation went alsmoag immediately and now I have this gorgeous new earring. Also saw another few gorgeous pieces for my Xmas list!

The staff were very welcoming when I went in. I hadn't decided to get a piercing - I'd been considering it for a while and had a number of questions to ask. I also wanted to see the jewellery close up.
I was given comprehensive, honest answers to all my questions and was under absolutely no pressure. I went ahead and got it done. I'm so glad I did.
The whole experience was really pleasant - even fun. All the girls were lovely. Professional, helpful and patient. I'll be getting another.........

The earrings from Laura Bond exceptional except for this particular item. Beautifully designed, excellent colour for white gold but there is a problem with them. The leaves on the earrings don't go all the way around, it's only half way. Therefore, you will find the design will eventually move around to the bare white gold metal and the vine leaves half way down not revealing the whole earring design. If the vine leaves went a fraction more to the back part, this will give no room to move around to the bare metal but to show the full design. I have to keep turning the vines upward in order for my friends to see the design. Therefore, I'm keeping the earrings to give to my niece for Holy Communion next year.

I am delighted to have discovered the Laura Bond range of jewellery, which caters for the variety of piercings. My first purchase was a 14k solid gold clicker hoop earring as a Christmas present for my sister and I already have further purchases lined up for myself. The rewards system is great, enabling customers to accrue points for substantial money off and the delivery was very prompt. The website is well presented, with images for each item being shown as a piercing in a variety of positions in the ear to determine size and those images in turn provide more ideas for additional earrings which complement each other. My only regret is not living in Edinburgh to visit the store to browse in person!

Every time I visit Edinburgh I always get a new piercing done! I absolutely love the jewellery and the team are also amazing and really friendly!
