Layerstack support wiped my server data after I gave them panel access for an unrelated billing issue

Customer for one year. Support asked for my panel password to handle a billing issue, and the next day my server was manually reinstalled without my consent. Everything was gone. The sites on it belonged to clients: a restaurant, a woodworker, a wedding event business. Down for over five hours, all inquiries lost. Management later confirmed in writing that it was an unauthorized action by a staff member and that the employee was terminated, but compensation never went beyond a refund plus a free year I can't use. Already switched providers. Think twice before handing over your panel password to this company's support team.

More than six weeks of broken promises

Hello everyone. My name is Alex, and I have been working as a systems engineer for more than 30 years. During my career, I have worked with many hosting providers around the world and almost never leave public reviews. However, this is the first time I have encountered a situation that I simply cannot ignore, and I want to warn other potential customers.
I accidentally created a duplicate order. LayerStack acknowledged the mistake and agreed to refund the payment by crediting the amount to my LayerPanel2 account balance. I accepted this solution immediately.
More than six weeks have now passed, but the money has still not been credited. During this entire period, I received almost identical template responses saying that the matter was being reviewed and would be resolved soon. Promised deadlines repeatedly passed without any result.
I eventually shut down all of my servers and stopped using LayerStack.
From a customer’s perspective, this situation is extremely difficult to distinguish from dishonest business practices. The company continues to hold the customer’s money while repeatedly delaying the promised resolution with the same template responses.
I have retained the complete correspondence confirming everything described in this review and can provide it if verification is required.
Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend LayerStack. I strongly advise potential customers to think carefully before trusting this company with their money or infrastructure.

I run network-intensive workloads and…

I run network-intensive workloads and used LayerStack's Hong Kong cloud servers. The hardware is genuinely good (AMD EPYC). The policy around it is not.

My plan included a multi-TB monthly transfer quota. Whenever my sustained traffic reached roughly >100 Mbps — legitimate application traffic, well within the monthly quota — their automated system flagged it as "abnormal" and blocked the server's network. Not throttled. Blocked. The service just goes dead until their system decides to unblock it.

I asked support directly, in writing, three times: what sustained rate (in Mbps) is actually allowed on my plan? Their replies only repeated undefined phrases like "the capacity supported by your subscribed plan" and "the allocated limit" — never once a number. Their own pricing table lists memory, vCPU, storage and transfer volume, but no port speed and no permitted rate. Do the math: a 5TB/month quota averages ~15 Mbps. Real traffic peaks far above its average, so if peaks get you blocked, the advertised quota is mathematically impossible to consume. You are paying for TBs you are not allowed to use.

Support also confirmed in writing: "there are no refund options available" — including for time your server sits blocked by their own system.

Judging by other reviews here going back years, this is not a glitch, it is the business model: advertise big quotas, block anyone who actually uses them, keep the money. Every competent provider handles heavy users by rate-limiting (traffic shaping) — the service slows down but keeps working. Choosing to hard-kill a customer's network instead, with a secret threshold, is a deliberate choice.

If your workload is a small website that never exceeds a few dozen Mbps, the servers work fine. If you plan to actually use the bandwidth quota you are paying for, stay away.

Pricing Bait

Cautions, if you were consider to bought server from this provider just to remind that the pricing they give which is the NanoGPU $5 is only for the BASIC price there is an hourly cost. So, its not worth it or even worth to try if you want GPU server.

Exposing #LayerStack's unfair services…

Exposing #LayerStack's unfair services and false advertising practices. It is hereby solemnly reminded that you should not purchase any #cloud servers, #object storage, or #CDN network acceleration services on its website. The promotional content provided by this platform is completely false advertising. Its customer service performance is poor, like a robot with mechanical responses. For any question raised by customers, the processing cycle is as long as more than half a month, and there are often no results. In addition, this platform does not consider things from the customers' perspective at all and is indifferent to the survival of customers' website operations.

Scam Company

I had a very disappointing experience with Layerstack. Although my VPS plan included 1TB of monthly traffic, they suspended all of my server within a single day claiming “abnormal usage,” even though I hadn’t even reached the allocated limit. When I requested a refund, they initially agreed but never actually processed it nor provided any explanation.

This kind of behavior feels dishonest and unprofessional. It shows they do not value their customers and treat users unfairly. I cannot recommend Layerstack to anyone looking for a reliable VPS provider — there are much more trustworthy companies out there that actually respect their own terms and their customers

I do not recommend after 5 years of use

They constantly turn off servers within the promised load. They say that there is suspicious traffic, but in fact they just don't like that there is traffic at all.
One of the servers was turned off and they processed the request for about a month, in the end the money was returned.
Another server, according to the request, has been hanging for about a year, since autumn 2024, the money has not been returned and apparently will not be.

Circle of Pain

This company is real deal to pain in your head. We was using their since years and full of suffering memory and robotic answer. Customer Support and Technical is really enjoy to saying no. And they encourage customer make payment by credit card, but in case if you want to change payment method and cycle of pain will be started. And we have experience about being charged personal credit card without approval and taking extremely long time to resume the service due to their own fault. Another ridiculous issue is same 1 company using 2-3 different service and this company is requiring customer to separate 3 platform with 3 login ID x 3 Password. I cannot picture the Bureaucracy is Gorgeous displaying in private sector unreservedly or who are managing all these behind???

Scammer company

Scammer company. Paid for their Singapore server to host our website but since day 1 while we are doing testing and backup they block our server access for multiple times daily. I replied their email saying we are doing testing and backup they replied ok but still continue to block. They said its their system auto block so they cant do anything. Today we reset the server after they said they had restore our connection but I still can't access the server and instantly got an email to say access blocked again. I ask for refund since its not workable and they refused to refund and say no such thing as refund in their company. They claimed their server is all ok and nothing they can do. So avoid this company unless you want nightmare for your usage. Below is an example for their email. Which they cant explain to me how why our testing usages will trigger their auto blockage.

We would like to inform you that the network has been automatically blocked due to abnormal traffic from your server. If you have not made any changes, please access the server via the console and check the logs for any potential attacks. Additionally, we have not found any rebuild logs indicating recent activity.

The network will resume automatically once the traffic reduced.

Thank you so much

Best Regards,

Luis Andrews

Beware: Unreliable Service and Poor Customer Support from This VPS Provider

I'm extremely disappointed with the service provided by this VPS provider. Despite paying over $1,000 per year for their servers, I've experienced unacceptable levels of instability.

One of the most frustrating aspects is the provider's tendency to restart servers without any prior notice or warning. This lack of transparency is unprecedented in my experience with other VPS providers.

When I reached out to their customer support via live chat, they denied any such incidents, which was unhelpful and dismissive. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident. My four servers with them were down for over two hours, and I was unable to contact anyone from their support team, despite their claim of 24/7 non-stop customer service and live chat. The wait time to speak with someone was over 75 minutes, only to find that they were unable to assist me.

Furthermore, the provider has no refund policy, making it difficult to cancel subscriptions in advance. Their dashboard requires customers to contact support to initiate cancellation, which I did. However, the customer support representative, Luis Andrews, consistently delayed my request.

I hope this review serves as a warning to others: avoid this provider to prevent similar losses and frustrations.

I should've read these reviews first..

Well, I just got the server on August 3rd, started using it on August 5th.
In just 3 days (the day I write this reviews), I got 4 downtime. Connectivity issues, which always happen.

I got 8 cores AMD Epyc Bergamo, 16GB RAM, 300GB NVME.

Those sweet number of cores and RAM won't matter, if your server is constantly down. I suggest to run as far as you can from this company.

2 of the downtime was caused by 'sudden high traffic' they say, when all I do was backing up my web application. FYI it's just 20GB files. I'm obviously not moving like 800GB files.

The only good thing is fast support, but their server will make you frustrated.

I just let my money gone like that for 3 days of frustration, I am currently moving my site as fast as I can before another connectivity issues.

Terrible User Experience and Extremely Poor Quality with the Premium Compute Plan

I was enticed by the advertisement for LayerStack's Premium Compute plan and the impressive benchmark test data featured on vpsbenchmarks.com. Unfortunately, after making a purchase, I encountered numerous problems. The server, advertised to have top-notch performance, proved to be unreliable. I experienced excessive disconnection rates, high packet loss, and restrictive speed limits, which altogether made it impossible to run a web server normally. Furthermore, any uptime or monitoring tests frequently reported server downtimes.

To exacerbate the situation, when I submitted tickets requesting assistance, the support was unhelpful and dismissive, merely closing the tickets without providing any solutions. On top of these issues, the pricing was exorbitant. To be candid, should I have the option in the future, I would definitely choose a different provider and avoid LayerStack.

I would advise potential customers to thoroughly review more information and consider other users' experiences before purchasing. Based on my experience, this provider is not trustworthy, their advertising is misleading, and the performance is subpar.

update:
I already mentioned that if you (LayerStack) did not resolve the ongoing issue (server connectivity is unstable and frequently disconnects), I would feel obligated to publicly share my dissatisfaction with your service.

And guess what? Initially, you asked me to check the connection, and after multiple occurrences, you just said "This rarely happens" and then closed my support ticket. But what's the reality?

The disconnections keep happening, over and over. My uptime monitor intermittently notifies me of server downs, sometimes even daily.
What's worse is that occasionally my clients ask why they can't access the server, and that's how I find out it hasn't been restored.

If you don't show respect towards me, I will not have the opportunity to show it towards you, and I will leave comments in more places to let more people know about your false advertising and the issues.

Of course, I have already provided details regarding the review content to Trustpilot so that you cannot use the "suspicion of a fake review" as a reason to ask for my information or to delete my review.

Great ARM servers

Have been using their ARM servers for homelab. They have really great specs and stability for the price, haven't seen any comparable alternative in the APAC region at this time.

It's a pain for me to write reviews but…

It's a pain for me to write reviews but Im starting to feel that there are to many VPS providers around that are just quite bad and should exist whatsoever.
I was quite happy to find them at the beginning but then regretted.

I will resume it as:
1- Unstable speeds worldwide (from the HK vps) varying from 2MB to 50MB
2- Slow speeds from China, it's always a MAX of 3MB no matter what they say on the website and the support might say. It's completely limited to 3 MB.
3- Support with template/copy paste questions.
4- Asking root password for something not relevant

If you go for them Good Luck
