Excellent customer service experience
I had a great experience with Carl—everything was straightforward and quick. Carl was incredibly kind and took the time to clearly explain all the fitness courses available. It made the whole enrolment process easy and informative. Excellent support!

TLDR: They overcharged me twice, marked my work wrong, gave no clear communication and took over 7 months to send my certificate!!
Firstly, the course is alright and easy to understand but the problems come when you need any assistance or customer service. I paid off my course early but they continued charging me even after I told them to stop and refund me. It wasn’t until I raised it with my bank that anything was done about it. I then finished my course and had no communication about if my course was being marked and how long this would take. So after 3 months of waiting I sent an email only to find out they were missing a piece of work, even after it had all been signed off! The fact no one thought to email me to get this sorted earlier is appalling! It then took 5 more months of chasing up and receiving only vague excuses as to why it was taking so long. I know people that started, finished and received their certificates from other companies just in the time I was waiting for mine! Don’t waste your time.

Disappointed by Delays, Technical Failures, and Lack of Support
I enrolled in the Level 3 Diploma for the Gym Instructing and Personal Training Practitioner course with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience with Learndirect has been frustrating and disappointing.
There were significant delays in registering me for my exam — beyond the timeframe they themselves quoted — and I received no proactive updates during that period. This left me unable to progress for over a month, with no accountability from the provider.
I also encountered serious technical issues during multiple exam attempts, including connection failures and long delays in accessing proctors. Only after repeated failures did I receive a retrospective explanation blaming my device’s RAM — something that was never mentioned during the exams, despite reaching out to their support team at the time.
When I raised these concerns, along with inconsistent pricing for resits and a lack of transparency about exam feedback, I was met with a generic and dismissive response. No meaningful resolution was offered — not even a supported resit or partial refund. I was simply told the matter was closed.
Given the cost of the course and Learndirect’s claims of learner support, this experience has been extremely disappointing. I’ve now had to escalate my complaint to the awarding body and consumer advice services.
I hope others consider this experience before enrolling, especially if you expect timely support and fair exam conditions.

Highly recommend the LEAP Academy course.
Do not trust – wrongly overcharged 4 months in a row!
I’ve now been overcharged 4 months in a row for my PT course. They offered me a discount if I paid off my payment plan, which I did, but they’ve still charged me every month since. Every month they promise to refund me and stop the charges but they don’t, so I have to dispute the charge with my bank. This includes this month, after they promised last month on Trustpilot (via Learndirect, their partner..?) to stop the charges! They’re ignoring my emails to multiple support addresses. This is completely unacceptable, I no longer trust this company and am hereby requesting a full refund for the course.
Constantly chasing certificates
The courses are really good quality, at a reasonable price. However, it is really disappointing that it seems as though you have to chase them for certificates. I appreciate that you can’t expect to receive your qualification immediately after the course is completed, but they don’t really update you on when you can expect to receive it. I have completed 3 courses with them now. The first one was supposed to take less than 6 months and I believe I received it after 9 months. The second one I had to print off myself despite the fact I was told I would be sent it. I am still chasing the third one and have had little to no updates and when I have been updated it’s been several days after I got in touch. My most recent request for an update was ignored which I sent almost 2 weeks ago.
Like I said, happy with the course quality and they’re a decent price. Felt as though I learnt a lot from them, but will probably be the last time I use leap where I probably spend more time waiting for qualifications than actually doing the course. The person I’ve spoken to has been polite and professional but customer service could definitely be improved with speed of response.

Difficult and stressful
I began my Personal Training with Leap Academy. As it is all online, i thought this would be the best option for me with working 2 jobs and constantly being busy! I really enjoyed doing all my notes/ watching the videos/ learning about the different elements of the course. However, it came to the exams. I’d booked my exam in online for a certain date, i’d also booked this day off work to give me time to revise and be prepared for it. What you’re basically dealing with is online robots, not one single human being to communicate through on the day of your exam. I couldn’t get onto mine at my booked time, it constantly kept saying the website was blocked. I’d literally tried EVERYTHING at this point, rang Leap, no answer, rang the exam company, no answer. I’d booked a day off work for this and was left sat in floods of tears from the stress of missing my exam and becoming so frustrated at trying to get it to work. I booked in again a few weeks later and the exact same situation happened. I then left the course. I’d done all my hard work for months to then not even be able to do my exam. They should let you do the exam in person. It was honestly so difficult and frustrating. I’m now with another company to complete my Personal Training which has been smooth sailing ever since i started. This might not be the same for everyone but for me there was absolutely no support, no help and being left in tears from something i was so excited about is definitely not a good outcome.
