The Company now tells us they are…

The Company now tells us they are insolvent AFTER they continued to take orders via their website up to just a few days ago. Incompetent? Dishonest? Or both? I for one can simply not afford to just write this amount of money off.

Uncompleted prepaid order from 17.02

I really wanted to suffer from giving this negative feedback before solving the problem with company but looking to current situation and lots of opinions and cases like mine i decided to take a stand.
Ordered a seat 17.02. To order a seat you have to prepaid that and it turns out that the date of delivery remains unspecified. No estimation if this would be weeks, months…
After 30 days of production status on their website I decided to ask if everything fine. It’s european time to complete order in fact of no estimation of delivery time. I got an answer that they are problems with hard components need to made a seat. It was the last time I had contact with them -14.03.
Now no replies on mails, via whatsapp, phone calls are also unanswered. I tried to directly contact Alex. Still no response. I’ am ready to accept longer time of delivery - there is no problem. But fact of no contact and any updating and no minimal estimation of delivery date is reprehensible due to prepaid order.
I tried to contact many times and in many ways.
If there will be no response and clarification this week i will take the legal actions.
If they respond to me and explain what’s going on, there is no problem - i will change this opinion and delete it. I was so friendly and calm but everyone's patience runs out at some point.

Is this a scam?…

Contacted this company via email and got immediate responses. Made a purchase back in mid January and here I am now at end of March and still no seat. Any emails sent asking about delivery dates, even an estimated delivery go unanswered. Starting to now think I have been scammed. I would be ok with a delayed delivery, all I want is my emails answering. Happy to reply to you until they have your money. Glad I paid on my credit card, I can now try to claim a section 75 to get money back and let the credit card company pursue the company.

Here it is 3 days after posting this review and still zero response, let this be a warning to anyone else thinking of buying from this site. I’m going to ask for a refund, I will keep this post updated to see if he replies to that?

Ordered the seat from Alex Leather

Ordered the seat from Alex Leather. After a couple weeks I ran across some you tube videos and found some extra options I did not see when ordering. I reached out via email to see if the option of Springs could be changed to black and understood because of the time lapse this may not be possible. I received a response from Silke within 12 hours that said that they were out of stock and were unsure of availability prior to shipping my custom seat. They gave me an option to hold out for the springs or not let that delay my seat further. I chose to add no delay. I received the seat with the requested black springs faster than I thought I would get it (just around 4 weeks). The seat is of great quality. I will be getting a left side saddle bag next.

Quality of the product is amazing

Quality of the product is amazing. When choosing your seats with Alex Leather you need to know the detail size for your bike.
Silki was very cooperative and honest dealers, when we had some issues with our fund transfer back and forth he was patient to got all handed.

I am sorry I thought this complaint was directed to “Leathercraft Canada who are a furniture manufacturer based in Toronto and not your motorcycle accessory manufacturer in Germany

Such a rip off for a $600 seat

This was such a rip for a $600 seat, they said 3 weeks i waited about 3 months for this thing to show up. I paid for the extra padding and they didn't add it, in fact there is less padding than the stock picture, frankly on the back edge you're just basically sitting on steel.. The holes for the mounting plate were off. I had to buy a drill press to drill them out and they're flatheads so they'll never look right, they sent the long springs in the wrong color I asked them to send the 2" and 3" they didn't. When I contacted them about the holes being in the wrong place they never responded.. just ghosted me..
the only positive of this seat is that it looks nice.. Terrible experience.

But many thanks for your review which we want to comment as follows:

We only tell quote approx delivery dates. Occasionally, especially in today's world with all its mess, it can take longer until we get all needed materials.
We don't like this situation either but we can't do anything about it. We can only try everything to keep the waiting time as short as possible.
You were always kept informed about the status of your order and got timely answers to your questions.

What thicker padding do you mean? You ordered 22mm padding and received 22mm padding. We cannot provide a thicker padding.
The fact that you feel you are sitting on steel is something we can't understand but we believe you. of course.
Please keep in mind that we already had a long and detailed mail correspondence a long time before you finally decided to order.
You were informed, among a lot of other things, that we can't guarantee that you would find the seat comfortable on your Indian.
As you know, we use genuine, thick leather. Of course, our seats are harder than other seats: our leather isn't as stretchy as faux leather or thin split leather.

Since you have already tried 2 other seats from other companies and complained that they were not comfortable / not suitable, it was a particular concern to us to inform you comprehensively and so we also submitted some ideas to you, how you could do some other modifications to get a better sitting position on your bike.
Due to the desolate delivery situation, you also knew that we could not send you 2" springs but only 3" springs.
It was also communicated that we are not always able to send the desired color due to the supply situation.

Remains the problem with the holes and the unanswered complaint by your email.
We have replied as soon as we were back from our vacation time and have seen your mail. I've to admit: I didn't answer it on the 1st day after the vacation, but a few days later.
This is due to the fact that there were still a lot of unanswered mails and I saw your mail just some days later.
I apologized for this late reply and explained to you why it can happen in individual cases that the holes do not fit 100% over each other: either because they were mounted incorrectly or because the frame is warped.
You, however, haven't answered our mail yet.
We would be pleased if you would contact us again.

Absolute craftsmanship worth every penny!

Wow! The vintage bobber seat Alex Leather Craft made me is beautiful. It’s absolute craftsmanship and lovely to see that people still do this sort of stuff. I’m so impressed. Took about a month from order to delivery but I knew that. Communication was great too - they responded within hours to every email I sent. All I can say is thanks. It was well worth the wait!

Seat and saddlebag.

I Ordered a seat for my custom bobber and it arrived on time and is spectacular.
I then ordered a matching saddle bag. There was a misunderstanding on my part during the online ordering process and I was sent the wrong color bag.
Silke and the others at Alex leather could not have been any nicer and understanding. They had a customer who ordered a bag that matched the bag I was sent so I sent him the one I had received and Alex leather made and shipped me the bag that matched my seat. The whole process was seemless and I just got the new bag and it is just amazing. These products are super high quality and the attention to detail is obvious. I have experience with industrial
sewing and the stitchwork on these products is 100% perfect.
I cannot say enough positive things about the service and products from Alex leather. If you are in the market for custom leather seats and bags don't hesitate to get in touch with them. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you to Silke for getting my order straightened out so easily and quickly.
These products are worth every dollar
spent.

The chances that these seats will fit your bike are 50/50…
I paid $450, waited weeks, and have been treated poorly. I have yet to be offered a refund, and at this point I don’t even want it!!!
I have exchanged at least 25 different emails where I was insulted, told that my bike had been modified, and needed to be, and was even asked to drive 18 HOURS to Miami to rectify the problem. I took the bike to 2 local shops with a combined 50 YEARS experience and they could not make this seat fit in any way. Bad business on every level!

We are sorry that your shopping experience with us was so bad for you.
We point out in our seat description that our seats for Sportsters don´t fit if the ECU is installed under the seat.
In your case, based on the sent photos it looked like the cable could have been routed under the fram.
That´s why Alex offered you to come to Miami so that he could install the seat himself, since he was in Miami at this time.
This was a request / an offer to you, but not an order.

You have already expressed in your mails that I insulted you in my reply mails and that I were rude.
But when I asked you about it and ask you to show me where I insulted you, you did not give me a single example in which I had offended you.

You have demanded the refund yourself but refrained when I replied that the refund would be made once the seat was returned.

It's true that I asked if someone had rebuilt your bike - I've never seen an ECU on the fender.
Meanwhile I know that this was a mistake and I sincerely apologize for it.
As you have broken off all contact you haven´t given me the chance to tell you personally.

I’ve been ignored and been treated very…

I’ve been ignored and been treated very unprofessionally. They failed to stick to the delivery date. Website says 3 weeks to get the product ready. Almost 7 weeks later I haven’t got any news or information about my seat. I ignore IF I’ll ever going to receive it or to get my money back as they stop answering my enquiring. They removed my feedback on the Facebook page and answered to it in a rough way. At this very stage I haven’t got a tracking number that I’ve been asking for at least a week since they claimed that it was finally ready. Poor customer service, terrible experience so far.
