Velda Pond at LetRef is an asset to the company. I've recently been going through referencing for a new property, and being self employed meant that my situation was not the most straight forward compared to others who are on salary or more traditional/straightforward ways of declaring income.

Velda was incredibly communicative over email and phone, even going as far as working over a bank holiday weekend which was greatly appreciated. I put Velda in touch with my accountant who was able to help provide some additional information that was required in order to pass referencing, and she kept in touch with me throughout the process, keeping me in the loop with how it was all going.

When my referencing was approved and sent to the estate agent in question, Velda also then sent a separate email to me to let me know that it was all completed, and wish me good luck with the forthcoming move. Having rented a number of properties throughout my life I've had a mixed experience with referencing agencies, but Velda made things feel calm and easy when I was feeling stressed about it. She consistently went above and beyond and there was a genuine personal touch to her work as opposed to me just feeling like a number in a spreadsheet.

My referencing was done by Velda. The process was thorough and well explained by Velda who even took extra time out to explain how to retrieve the correct documentation from my bank (where I initially wasn’t able to). I don’t have the most extensive experience with referencing but I felt as though I was in safe hands.

Extremely disappointing experience with Let Ref.

The process was unnecessarily time-consuming and confusing, with very little clarity on what information was actually required. It felt far more complicated than it needed to be, which made the whole experience frustrating from start to finish.

What made it worse was the customer service. When I was contacted by Velda Pond, the tone was patronising and unprofessional. I was spoken to as if I didn’t understand basic information, despite already being aware of what was being explained. It came across as condescending rather than helpful.

Overall, a stressful and poorly handled experience that really needs improving — both in terms of the process itself and how customers are treated.

Sarah Poulter made my experience an absolute nightmare. I have been waiting nearly a month to approve a reference despite sending all the documents required. They do not call you. They do not answer emails on time. Overall terrible service experience. Delayed my move in.

Charlotte was really helpful and made the whole process very clear.

Quick and easy. Mobile phone UI of website can be improved but all went peacefully. Charlotte helped in alternate arrangements where standard protocols of referencing were impossible.

Generally easy to use but the online form felt a bit clunky and could be better designed. Otherwise, it was a fast and efficient experience.

Great, quick and straight forward! Letref uses a Classic way to review references which is the most reliable way . They will respond you quickly and be clear and responsive with you in all steps.

Highly recommend! The site was really easy to use and the communication I had with Charlotte was excellent. All in all, the reference check was completed within a day. 5* from me!
