Ghastly

I have been to LifeLabs Canotek many times. My experience has never been great but yesterday was truly ghastly. I checked the website and saw they were open until 3, with a current waiting time of 20 minutes. I went right over and arrived at 1:20 to find a locked door. I could see people inside and after knocking 3 times someone finally came to tell me they had closed at 1 PM. My reference to the fact that they website said they were open and pleas for a quick blood test went unheeded. The lady pointed up to a paper note that had been taped to the door far too high for me to see in my wheelchair, as if somehow that was some sort of excuse.
As I was climbing back into my car a man and woman arrived; he seemed much older and had very limited mobility, needed a cane and her elbow. I watched them go into the outer door, emerging a couple of minutes later clearly very upset. I engaged them in conversation and learned that they had a pre-booked appt. at 10:30 and still were not served. I would expect more of a convenience store; for a health care facility this is truly shameful. Of course it’s a privately-owned facility.
There is a happy ending: I checked for other labs in the area and discovered Dynacare at 595 Montreal Road. I was received with a smile (something I don’t think I have ever seen at LifeLabs) and was invited into a bright windowed area (windows are something else you won’t see at LifeLabs Canotek. I will NEVER go back there.

Chaos Testing Southdown Road Missisauga

I needed to get a stool antigen test for H pylori.
1) Apparently you no longer perform the urea breath test (which was covered by OHIP)
2. I acquired a requisition from my doctor for the stool antigen.
3. I went online to see if there were and special requirements for this test. Documentation said I need to book and pay for it on line.
4. I paid on line and printed out the requisition, took it to the lab along with the signed OHIP requisition from my doctor.
5. This was refused. I had to make another doctor appointment so he could sign the printed out Lifelabs requisition.
6. Visited my doctor.
7. Procured my sample and took it to the Southdown Clinic in Mississauga. Asked for a receipt to submit to my insurance (All I got from Lifelabs was a receipt that said I paid $180 - did not identify the service location or what test was done.) I was informed that since I paid online they could not issue me a receipt. (they would, if I paid ANOTHER $180 right there)
8) Submitted the receipt I had to my insurance and of course, they rejected it.
9) I called your customer service and after being on hold for 45 minutes I got this lovely lady who understood exactly what the issue was and transferred me to Accounts Receivable, only to be required to leave a message.
10. An hour and half later I called directly to Accounts receivable, the person could not locate the invoice (my Invoice number begins with SC2 - he said all their invoices begin with 8 or 9. He transferred me back to Customer Service, even though I told him Customer Service had transferred me to AC
11. Fortunately there was not a 45 minute wait this time and the gentleman escalated the issue and said I should hear from them shortly.
12. I'm waiting.

Look before booking with Life Labs

This company is disinterested in assisting customers. Their staff promise to come back with a response and never do. The manner in which they request payment up front, prior to confirmation of a booking is extortion.
Granted they offer a service in a small time window to get a Travel Covid test that complies with the destinations countries requirements ,ie 72 hours before arrival. Granted these are small time windows. However after paying $350 to them we could not secure a test date in the window. We are told we have to wait between 6 and 8 weeks for the return of our money.
Unbelievable for a 1st world company.

The net result is that a further $ 350 had be paid to another company who were able to assist in hours.

We have written twice to them demand immediate return of our monies with out response. Our only other route is to now turn to a legal action which is costly. Another route is possibly a paid article in a London Ontario news paper.
I feel we have been treated with out any respect.

Never again

Never again. Incompetency at its finest. Don’t waste your time going there.
All other lifelabs are booking within 2-3 days online.
The only way to smarten these places up is to review them and their staff. This one gets a big 0 from me.

Understaffed and unsafe

Respectfully showed up a few minutes early for my appointment. Force to wait standing up in a busy poorly ventilated hall. Finally seen almost an hour late. Staff in the Collingwood location say they’re severely understaffed yet life labs won’t send replacements or back off appointments. Apparently they have self reported their conditions with a hazard report to Lifelabs and to the local public health because the company doesn’t respond.

Horrendous Medical Treatment.

My doctor sends me here to do my blood work and other tests. I suffer from a chronic pulmonary medical condition and I have to get regular checkups and tests done. When I arrive there I am not wearing a mask due to my condition. I go to the lady standing at the door and inform her about my condition and she tells me that she won't let me in without a mask. Again I inform her I can't wear a mask due to my medical condition. She becomes confrontational and demands that I provide a card with my medical condition from my doctor. I tell her that she does not have the authority to ask for that information. She replies that I should have some kind of documentation that Identifies me as a person with a disability. I tell her like a mark on my hand or maybe a numbered tattoo and she replies " Yes something like that." I Take offence to her comments and ask to speak to the supervisor. She provides me with a number and her supervisor's name--- Laura Lee. The lady's name at the door is Fasika. I call her supervisor and provide details of the incident. She informs me she will talk to the employee and call me back in a few days. She never calls me back. Based on the way I was treated and the comments she made I will never use this company again. While it took a few months to reschedule my tests with another company, it's a small price to pay , in order to be treated with dignity, just like any other person.
I filed a non-compliance complaint with the City.
The address is 1448 Victoria Park.
