Buyers have no choice, as they are forced by the UK Government to sign a contract at the point of sale to a management company prior to the estate being completed. The management company do very minimum maintenance work, but charge very large management fees, even when they are in deficit in their accounts. This should be stopped.

As a first time contractor, I found myself in an absolutely disastrous situation at the end of 2021 when my accountant (a big UK firm) totally mocked up my accounts resulting in massive stress for me due to a mess with HMRC and my accountant going into hiding...That's when I decided to close down my company at the end of my contract to put an end to the mess believing that I could sort out my accounts and tax returns peacefully afterwards. Due to my inexperience, I was not aware that all business funds needed to be transferred BEFORE closing down the company until my bank announced to me that they had frozen my business account, that all my earnings would go to the Bona Vacantia Department and that there was nothing I could do about it as it was a voluntarily write off.... I was totally devastated but thanks to a good friend of mine who did some online research, I found out that this situation could be revoked via a Court decision and I came across Limited Company Restoration. I found them very professional from the start and reasonably priced (as opposed to other providers who clearly take advantage of the misery of the people like me in this situation). It took a few months and several email exchanges until the Court case cleared. Plus an additional 2 months for the Bona Fide Department to authorise my refund, but I finally have my money back! I would not recommend anyone to venture into a Court case by themselves (although it's an option) and I cannot thank Lyn Bond and her team enough!

I am in the middle of getting my company restored and have paid all the necessary fees. I haven't had an update or a response to my latest email. I have followed up again - Lyn and James' emails and phone numbers are all out of service. I have been trying to get through to the main phone number provided but can't manage to speak to anyone, and it goes to voicemail. It feels like you have taken my money and done a runner!
