Bad birthday meal experience!!!!

We went to the Lion & Pheasant restaurant in on 18/01/2016 based on their internet reviews.

After we had finished our pre-meal drink a young lady gave us the menu, we ordered our meal and was then asked where we would like to eat, we said in the ground floor restaurant by the fire. She hen walked away and didn't come back o show us to our seats?.. Then we were approached on two other occasions by different staff, asking if we would like to see the menu?? We decided to find where we were supposed to be sitting.
When he starter arrived it consisted of four small salad leaves pasted onto the plate and a 4" x 1/2" piece of fish (which was supposed to be fillet of plaice) one forkful and it was gone! My main course was a disaster, I ordered the "Sous-vide lamb"... Well! I couldn't even chew it!

I complained to the man behind the bar (John) who really was the model of great customer service. By the time it had been sent back to the chef? for his professional opinion, my partner had finished her meal,
so I shared a cheese board with her. Our bill was reduced and we left.

I worked for many years as a chef in France and the UK, this included doing spot checks on other hotels/ restaurants in the group to check on all aspects of food and service.

Although my partners meal was acceptable we will not be returning.
