Quoted £49 for the labour

Quoted £49 for the labour, advised no call out charge. Double checked no extra cost and said only for any materials required. Lock was jammed and just needed opened. Guy came and said £125. I said that’s not what I was quoted so just leave it. He then said could do it for £100, felt under pressure and needed door opened so went ahead. Guy was there 10 mins max, took £100 no invoice: we phoned the company who said it should of been £150, then hung up on us, when called back they said had no record of booking! Avoid!

Did not use accredited locksmiths.

Did not use accredited locksmiths.
Two guys rocked up in a car and used chisels and a hammer to open my door. Thankfully they caused no damage.
Claimed not to have the required part, so installed a temporary lock, with a promise of a return the following morning with the correct part.
I returned later that same day to find that the temporary lock didn't even secure the door slightly, as I was able to open the door without even having to use the key.
I've given two stars rather than one for the following reasons:
1. They did get my front door open
2. They did arrive quickly and were polite
But, I ended up having to get the lock sorted by another locksmith, this one MLA accredited, who was appalled at the work.
I ended up getting a partial refund from the original, but would not in good conscience recommend them.

Rip off David - Reading Berkshire

David, the locksmith who attended changed the price - I am still waiting for a breakdown of the invoice

Unable to fix the problem immediately and had to do 2 visits. The price changed in the week between visits for parts ??

As a single female I felt unsafe challenging him about the cost face to face and wanted him out of my house.

He has not returned calls or supplied an invoice

Would not use this Company as not sure how qualified or vetted are the locksmiths they send out

Wish I could give zero stars

Wish I could give zero stars, made up prices on the spot. My Mrs ended up paying £420 for a job that took half hour. We're new homeowners so we're not accustomed to prices for certain things and being locked out of our home we needed a quick solution. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Will be contacting trading standards

SCAMMERS

SCAMMERS
My in laws (oaps) called these crooks out as their door was hard to lock and unlock
They charged £280 to change a ten pound lock and went
Two day's later I went to water their plants as they went on holiday and I couldn't get in as the top catch was stuck
They eventually came out as we couldn't leave the house unlocked
He then said he needs another part at a cost of £75 and I said he's should have done the job properly in the first place as its only been locked once
He used chisels to open the plastic door causing damage and after three hours and stripping the mechanism to bits making videos calls to try and find out what to do as he had no idea he the said the whole lot needs replacing and it broke when he hit it with a hammer a few times
He said he will go to get some bits and never came back leaving the door total trashed and unable to shut it let alone lock it
I phoned him and said he needs to come back as we can't leave the house unlocked and the door open
He refuses to come back or give a refund
We had no choice but to call an out of hours locksmith who done the job properly but cost almost £500 because it was very late at night and because of the damage these crooks at Locksmiths 4 all done
Fortunately I have cctv evidence and video evidence to prove it all
Needless to say I have contacted hmrc as he gave no invoice
Also contacting trading standards
PLEASE BE WARNED THIS COMPANY ARE SCAMMERS

Scam artists

Their website says no call out fee, we clarified on the phone that it would cost about 49 pounds if it were simple which we thought was good. When he got there he said the 49 was the call out charge and it would be 180 for the lock. We said we weren’t paying that and he immediately dropped it to 120. We had just got back from a family emergency abroad and had no real option than to just pay it. He drilled out the lock, we refused to pay extra for him to replace it and off he went.

Speedy, efficient, service

Alex called gave us a time he would be available. He arrived saw the job and had to buy some bits for his angle grinder. He returned removed the lock. He even gave me a lift to buy a new lock. Excellent service, fast friendly service. Recommended.

Quoted me £198 £49 for the labour and…

Quoted me £198 £49 for the labour and £149 for the lock. Even went as far to say that could increase.

I the decided to do this myself as I work in the industry and bought a euro cylinder for £23 and the job took less than 1 minute to do; all you need to do is remove the screw holding the cylinder lock in place and turn your key to then remove the lock and repeat the process in reverse to get the job done yourself lol

Avoid these cowboys at all costs and watch a YouTube video if you’re confused.

Don’t use these cowboys

I would strongly advise against using these people. It says no call out fee but they do in fact charge a call out fee. The quality of their work is appalling. Our lock and handle was left in such a bad state that we had to call a proper locksmith in to put everything right at more expense. He doubted the previous person was a qualified locksmith. Don’t waste your time and money on these cowboys.

SCAM

SCAM. NEVER use this company. I just paid £700 to replace a lock!!! The price was not made clear to me before the job was done. A lot of numbers for various locks were thrown at me. When the job was done, I didn't feel like arguing with a man on my own; when you are locked out, you are obviously in a vulnerable position. I have phoned the company and they have given me a mobile number for the manager who does not answer his phone. Looking at all the reviews (too late..) I gather this company needs to be stopped. what a scam. I just paid £700 for a 15-minute job.

Scandalous

Made the big mistake of calling them after panicking over a door we couldn't lock.
Man came with a dewalt drill in his hand, damaged my door, stunk of drink, and charged me the horrendous price of £144.
Fitted a temporary lock, that didn't even work properly.
In the end, ordered a new gearbox latch from ebay, and fitted it myself.
I would Never ever ring these people again.

1 star is too high

1 star is too high. Wish I had read the reviews before panick booking when locked out. The “locksmith” himself was quick to attend, courteous, slightly damming of the companies lies about no call out fee, but ultimately got us into our house with no damage. A job that should have been £150 tops - £200 in a panick; but then the “emergency call out” on top of the call out and entry fee, all plus VAT - £350 later…

Apparently I would get a detailed VAT receipt, I gave my email, nothing. 4 emails to info@ - not reply. Messaged the “locksmith” - no reply.

I’m not an accountant, but suspect VAT fraud as a minimum, and would welcome them to prove me otherwise.

It’s difficult when you are locked out, with a distressed partner, late at night - but get the number for a decent local firm now and put it in your phone so you don’t get tripped off by these guys who may well be committing fraud.

Complete scam

Complete scam, I have disabilities, Complex PTSD. The guy came over did everything very quickly, told me that I wouldn't have to pay £75 for the call out. I read on their website that £39 was the minimum charge so I assumed I wouldn't be paying much. He didn't even show me or tell me how much it was. As he drove off I got a bill transaction of £355. This is a scam. I am disputing the charge and will be going to citizens advice on Monday. These people are taking advantage of vulnerable people across the UK. I called the police and they've said it's a civil matter. I advise anyone who is affected by this to contact trading standards.
