Great car lousy customer service
Rented a 15cubic metre van for a long drive (1900Kms) The van was a fairly new Renault and drove superbly. In fact, the van itself wasn't the problem at all, but the staff and the agency (Dammarie Les Lys). I had booked for 9am, showed up at 8:40am and there were already people there. I didn't get seen until 9:20 when everything had to be gone through in minute detail and they didn't trust my colleague's foreign but EU driving licence so that had to be checked. By 10am, an hour after I wanted to leave, I walked onto the parking lot where I was promised there would be an agent to take care of the hand off and take pictures. I waited and waited and saw someone who I approached but who turned out to be another client waiting for the phantom agent to appear. I was now running 1 hour and 15 minutes behind schedule so I took off. I stopped at a lay-by and took pictures of the van which was anyway in good condition. They geo-localise their vans so they know exactly how many kilometres you've done anyway. That evening I mailed the pictures to the agency saying their agent never showed up.
The trip went fine and the van was great. Upon return, I filled it up and washed it at the car wash so it was shiny clean. It was also -4ºC so not pleasant to be outside. When I went to return the key at 12:50 the agency was shut for a 2 hour lunch! So had to come back at 2pm. They again said I had to go to the carpark to have the pictures taken, I said I'd just been there and there was no one. So I headed back into the cold and wandered around freezing until a young man, totally dressed in black, finally approached me and said he was the agent and started telling me off for having left without seeing him. I told him he should at least wear something that identifies him as an agent for Leclerc as I'm not in the habit of approaching people dressed as thugs in car parks. He claimed he didn't have that. He continued to berate me and asked what these weird marks were on the van, it turned out to be the water from the car wash that had frozen. He was very disappointed that he didn't find anything wrong but took extra long and even said "well in that case I'm going to do a really thorough inspection".
When I finally came back into the agency I noticed a "Location Leclerc" outdoor jacket on the chair. I pointed out to his colleague that there was a jacket that would identify it, but he made some excuse that it was only a rain jacket, when I pointed out it could just be worn over his winter coat so we can identify him, he just shrugged. It obviously didn't make him look "cool".
So, overall, great car lousy customer service
