Rude & Hostile Theresa

Theresa, the referral clerk from the call center in Santa Maria is extremely rude, interupts and is very disrespectful. She is uncaring as to where she sends the referrals for tests and uninformed as to where tests can be performed locally and insists on sending the clients to go needlessly to other facilitates many miles away. She does not care about the results of her actions. She was told to not call again, but she did numerous times and then again. Coming from a medical family I am appalled at this system. There are good doctors at Diginity, but the medical system is broken. It seems to happen when corporate greed gets in the way.

I was a patient on Thursday night I believe. I was having trouble breathing. My RN was the best ever. I know Darcy was the person whom did blood work and very good at what she does. I am blank on my RN's name. I think his name was Erick. The Dr. On duty was EXCELLENT. THESE 3 were very compassionate about there jobs. I was feeling real bad when I came. I stunk like urine from coughing before I came by ambulance. I was so uncomfortable at first. But they all made me feel better. I can't say enough good things about them. My RN deserves a big raise. And a huge bonus. No one coached me to say or do anything. These people concentrate on making there patients better.

AWFUL-CONSTANTLY RESCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS

Not only does it take several weeks sometimes months to see a specialist they are constantly calling to reschedule appointments, for everything. Luckily I have a medical plan that I can see any doctor or medical group. So I will be changing.

Money is the bottom line with this…

Money is the bottom line with this corporation. Not health, not wellness, not quality of life. Money. Dignity would not work with me on a payment plan, instead telling me that I comply with their terms or it goes to collections. My offer was $70 a month. They would not budge off $83.50 a month, explaining that it was against their policy to go any lower. All heart, these people. But they're not people. They're a cold, calculating, money-hungry corporation. Don't be fooled by their warm, fuzzy commercials telling you they care. You could die as far as they're concerned.

Watch out for nurses inappropriate…

Watch out for nurses inappropriate behavior! While my mother was in the hospital, a nurse named Justin Marasigan, followed me down to the cafeteria to ask for my number. Shortly after, he was trying to kiss me in the parking lot! St. Rose Hospital hasn't done anything about it. How often is something like this happening?? They are allowing this unethical and inappropriate behavior?

Actually it's zero stars

Actually it's zero stars. I called the police department and they took me to emergency at dignity health hospital. My movements of my body was uncontrollable. I could hardly function. They billed my insurance company for no treatment at all. Every time I went to get help it was always no treatment at all.

Horrible healthcare

Horrible healthcare! I've been with them 15 years and this is the worst ever. I'm probably going to go to a different provider next year. Stay away unless you have a lot of time to spend playing phone tag, waiting on hold and then having the departments screw up your referrals.

Dealing with Dignity has been a joke

Dealing with Dignity has been a joke. The ombudsman cares more about covering the hospital's a$$ than trying to help. Complete opacity in investigating and responding to a situation where someone obviously screwed up, and it wasn't me. I showed up for a surgery and my doctor amazingly did not. She never told the hospital she wasn't coming, and she lied about my insurance company denying authorization for the surgery. She never bothered to get authorization and the hospital never bothered to confirm what she had done. After I was sent home, they told me they have no oversight over doctors and couldn't do anything about what she had done. Enen though she wears their logo and is in their care network and has privileges at the hospital. Adding further insult to injury, I got a bill for several hundred dollars about a month later. No itemization or explanation. I have to call and request that an itemized bill be sent. When it's sent, it's related to the surgery I never had. I never made it out of their lobby and they want to bill me?!

Dignity Healthcare - Medicine, or Business?

Dignity Healthcare is all about telling you in glowing terms what you should receive from them in terms of healthcare, and then doing exactly the opposite in practice and performance.

First, they are averse to public contact. If you call the Dr. who oversees your care, you initially get passed off to a call center so they can "filter" your reason for calling. After several other transfers, you may be lucky enough to actually talk to someone who works in your doctor's office. You'll never reach the Dr.'s office directly.

Second, they document every conversation, every call, every emotion that you express (frustration, anger, etc.) and that becomes a part of your permanent health record. Many things will go into your permanent medical record incorrectly because the Dr. was not accurate in what he entered. And there is no way you can correct that. Why is this being done by Dignity health professionals? My guess is because they are really practicing law, not medicine.

Third, there is an appalling lack of basic communication skills among staff and doctors toward patients, especially with regard to prior medical issues and current concerns. When a doctor and patient are in the examining room, the doctor pays more attention to writing his narrative on computer than she/he does to listening to and examining the patient. It is a sort of "theoretical medicine" that is being conducted between doctor and patient rather than a hands-on practice based on examination and diagnostics.

On a recent visit, I talked with my doctor for perhaps 20 minutes in a sort of question-and-answer format. He dismissed most of my concerns and was more interested in suggesting websites that had to do with healthy eating and living. He never looked in my ear regarding recent hearing loss and pain there, and, almost as an afterthought, quickly listened to my heart only (not my lungs) before he exited the exam room.

If you expect Dignity Healthcare to deliver the same type of medicine as healthcare professionals used to deliver, you will be sadly mistaken. But they always make sure to get your primary and secondary insurance information correct. But what is your insurance paying for? In my opinion, a lot of borderline competence and minimal-standard medicine. Dignity should look after their patient's best interests first rather than their financial viability.

I'm not in the healthcare business so I can't tell them how to fix it. A return to traditional Dr.’s Office medicine could be a start. I can say that if you use words like "diginity" and "respect' in your promotional material and don't exhibit that with a caring, competent work force, you may fool some, but not all of the public. If Dignity Healthcare continues to make medicine solely a business, I predict it will fail in both.

Human kindness?

My wife had a follow up apt at the doctors office. She talked with the doctor for 10 minutes, $500 charge. She then had a follow up phone call with the doctor, 5 minutes $500. When asked for an explanation she was told it was because she had not reached her deductible, what’s that have to do with it? Human kindness, how about human ripoff.

I have never been so disappointed with…

I have never been so disappointed with the doctors at dignity, medical group for a patient that has been suffering with symptoms for four years and not having a doctor come up with a treatment plan is the most frustrating thing. I have continuously communicated with all of my doctors and yet I don’t get responses. Nobody goes over my bloodwork, imaging etc. it makes me question are these real doctors. If you want to stay alive and have good health, I highly recommend you choose a different medical group. Sadly, this is just so disappointing. Please hear me.

Double billing

I went into the emergency room of Dignity Health and received proper care and upon leaving my wife paid the $125 deductible as stated by my insurance and the reception desk associate there. Later in the year I began receiving bills from Dignity saying I still owed them $125. Their first bill to me showed that I had paid $125 but that I still owed $125. I called my insurance about it and they said that I only had to pay $125 once and no more. When I called Dignity about that and what my insurance rep said they stated that their understanding was that I had to pay the $125 twice and so I still owed them $125. Told them I wasn’t going to pay it since I didn’t owe it, they then asked if I would send them a copy of my explanation of benefits once it arrived. Once I received it I emailed a copy to them expecting that since it confirmed what I was stating all along that that would end the discussion. The following month they bill me again but this time stating that I hadn’t paid anything and still owed them $125. Frustrated I again called them and said I have paid them and then sent them a copy of my credit card statement showing the payment to them on the date of service. Again a month later I received another bill for the same amount. They state that they have no record of my payment even though I sent them proof that it was paid. Frustrated beyond belief in dealing with this for multiple months, I decided to call the emergency room where I was treated to see if they had record of me making the $125 payment on the day of treatment. They responded yes we have the record of your wife making that payment with your credit card, hmm but it seems that we messed up because for some reason it wasn’t credited to your account instead it was credited to another persons bill. They gave me the name of the person and the account number it was credited to and I called their billing department and gave that information to them. Problem solved right? Not with Dignity! Again they bill me for $125. Funny though each one of their bills say this is the final attempt and that they will have to turn it over to a collection company. It’s now December and of course I received another bill. It along with any other thing from Dignity will go in the trash where it belongs.

My experience is that the staff at his office is very unhelpful

The staff at Dr. Macht's office is very unprofessional. They wanted to reschedule my husband's surgery when two doctors advised us that it was important he have the surgery right away. Dealing with Dignity's system takes a lot of time and the staff is often unprofessional. When I called to address the problem, the staff could not handle my urgent request and actually hung up on me. Unbelievable.

I'd give Dignity zero stars if I could

I'd give Dignity zero stars if I could. Absolutely the WORST heath care organization out there. Their staff has absolutely no idea regarding customer service. Trying to call regarding a bill is an absolute nightmare with these people. After using them for many years we had enough. We have changed health care providers and we've never been happier. Horrible organization

I was seeing Dr Keet

I was seeing Dr. Keet and went to make an appointment and was retired. Had no idea. Then the new doctor taking over his practice was supposed to start in 9/1/23 but now October. They told me would refill my meds until then. Then told I need to see a doctor before can get one of my meds. I saw a Dr. Chondra. That was supposed to be it . Now been cut off from one med for two days. It's one that is dangerous to do so. Dr. Keet would never do this to me. On top of that had an appointment with Urologist yesterday and he was out on emergency surgery. Had the worst night without those meds. Should not have to go thru this. Didn't do anything wrong.

I checked in at 2:00 for my 2:15 appointment, I was not seen until after I approached the receptionist about my appointment, the time was 2:30. At 2:35 I was seen my the nurse for blood vitals, I waited for the doctor until 3:05 and then I had to leave for another commitment. I don’t think that doctor Lundquist even knew I was there. A very unprofessional health care facility.
