Great products

Great products, used to get it off Amazon, but since I stopped shopping there, decided to try the company's own website, easy to order and little free offers help, and free shipping over £10 (i think) is perfect!
Who needs Bezos Co when you have quick and easy ordering!
Keep up the good work!

Great company with amazing customer…

Great company with amazing customer service.

Lorraine dealt with my query which i'd emailed late one night and she replied next day. Very knowledgable, really friendly and helpful.
Lorraine did the research and kept in touch till she had the answer.

This is an amazing company who truly have their customer interests as a priority.

So thank you keep doing what you do so well.

Have used it for years and still think it’s the best

This is the best emollient cream I have ever used. I have been using it now for over 18 years, since a friend’s husband recommended it for my dry, chapped hands. It is great on eczema and other skin conditions, as well as an everyday cream. It’s absorbs quickly and forms a protective barrier. I have tried many other creams, but always come back to Lotil.
I even use it on my face.

I recently bought a 30ml tube of Lotil…

I recently bought a 30ml tube of Lotil and am wondering if it was old stock? It has a very strange consistency - like a short of paste that breaks into pieces, and has a very strong smell. Fenton Pharmaceuticals don't have a customer service number so I'm unable to ask them directly. Hope someone can help please.

Long Live Lotil!

I have been using and recommending Lotil cream for years. It is one of those 'must have' creams every household should have. It is amazing stuff. So much more than just a dry skin cream. Chapped hands, split skin from the cold, athletes foot are just a few of the things I use it for. As I am pro animal, it is a bonus to read today that it is cruelty free too. Long live Lotil!!

Not actually cruelty free

Their hand cream is not vegan and they have no plans to transition towards being cruelty free. I've changed from Lotil to Palmers for dry skin since going vegan.

They have since clarified that it contains lanolin, which is not cruelty free (you cannot be cruelty free by default, if not vegan. Regardless of what packaging says.) Lanolin is grease emitted from the glands of sheep, which is taken from the wool.

In order to obtain lanolin, sheep are exploited for their entire lives and then sent to slaughter as they are just an expendable asset to the lanolin and wool industries. Not to mention it's common for farmers to dock (mutilate) or cut off the tails in order to prevent flystrike. After a short life of misery, only existing for human exploitation, they are sent to slaughter only to end up on a plate.

Seems a bit excessive to cut a sheep's throat just for hand cream.

My original opinion was "Not cruelty free" and that opinion remains. Hopefully Lotil can move towards a fully vegan future (oranges are often used in place of lanolin) where no animals had to be harmed for us.

Edit: I've removed my three paragraph explanation of what happens in order to produce lanolin as people are able to watch something like Dominion [Timestamp 1:11:07] in order to learn if they're not familiar and aren't aware that it's incredibly cruel. Unless Lotil source their lanolin from Sheep Sanctuary in Whitby (where the animals are rescued from slaughter and not bred into life for slavery), They are still contributing to an industry that profits from exploitation, suffering, and death.

Reply from Lotil

Thank you for taking time to write a review. We take onboard all criticisms and work hard to ensure that all customers have a good experience with our product.

However, there are a few points that we think it is important to clear up.

Vegan and cruelty free are two different matters: -
Vegan – Products that do not contain animal-derived products or use them in the production process
Cruelty Free – Products that have not been tested on animals or use ingredients that have been.

I believe that we received a message from you enquiring into whether Lotil is suitable for Vegans. One of the main ingredients in Lotil is Lanolin and as such this makes Lotil unsuitable for Vegans. You did not ask if our products are cruelty free.

Lotil, and our other products, are cruelty free and we have already started the process to apply for the Leaping Bunny accreditation.

You may be interested to know that our Delph Sun Protection products are suitable for vegans, as well as being cruelty free.

***UPDATED
In reply to your updated review, we can assure you that no part of the lanolin material is obtained by harming or killing the sheep - the Lanolin is extracted from the wool after the sheep have been sheared. Sheep are required to be shorn every year for their own comfort and health, hence wool is a naturally occurring by-product.

The origin of wool in the supply chain used to obtain the lanolin complies with International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) guidelines for woolsheep welfare.

Lotil is 100% cruelty free and as such we continue to apply for the Leaping Bunny accreditation.

I highly recommend this product.

It keeps my hands really hydrated and stops them from drying out. It's not greasy so I can continue sewing and knitting.
A wonderful discovery my partner made many years ago. He had Scleroderma which made his skin very dry, tight and itchy. He started using Lotil and found it worked brilliantly and the antiseptic properties also helped stop the itching.

Brilliant for summer and winter

Love the consistency of the cream, really luxurious. Sinks in quickly whilst leaving skin wonderfully moisturised. Perfect for hands in winter and also in summer after shaving your legs!
