We run boat trips in Mentawai, the best surf zone in the world. We have been operating here for 6 years making dreams come true and having fun in the process! To have this set up, we have joined our years of experience in Mentawai with the most amazing vessel we could find. Spacious, stylish and classic, Maki is the perfect berth to allow you to tick that box. At Maki we don't have customers, we make friends. We aim to deliver something that can never be taken away from you: memories of epic days of surfing with your crew. About the boat, Maki is a liveaboard Phinisi built in 2016 in Sulawesi, Indonesia - a place with a very strong maritime heritage, as far back as the days of spice trading. Known as Bugis, the South Sulawesi people have earned the reputation of best boat builders and sailors in the East Indies. ​ They have passed on their skills down generations and are still the highest regarded boat builders in Indonesia today. This beautiful art has its days counted as it is becoming increasingly harder to find Indonesian hardwoods for its construction. As fiberglass and aluminium are becoming the norm, we felt that we had to take the opportunity to bring one of these beauties to North Sumatra and fill it with surfers in the search for empty line ups! When we found Maki, it was serving as a luxury diving charter boat in the Komodo region for 2 years. We worked hard to convert it to a rugged surf charter vessel in Mentawai. Aimed to deliver maximum comfort, It has a living room with 2 dining tables, open plan kitchen, an external lounge to hang out and watch the surf, a sun deck with day beds, and 5 cabins - 3 of them being en-suites, and a dedicated large fully enclosed boardroom with proper racks for up to 50 surfboards to be stored safely. Tethered to the back platform by the board room are the 2 auxiliary dinghies to rready to get you to the line up. ​ Comfort is great but safety is paramount. Regular maintenance, adequate equipment, regulations compliance and our experienced crew will get you sleeping tranquil at night. Last but not least, food. Fuel to the body, we go all in to make sure you're well nourished and stoked with the variety and flavours. It's been feast after feast, sometimes naughty ones, but following a growing consciousness in health and nutrition, we will be introducing more sports friendly recipes in 2025, with the help of a respected professional in the field.See more
