I'm a long-time classical guitarist, but have just launched into the electric realm with a Yamaha Silent Classical Guitar. I used it with headphones for a while, but then realised a small amp would be useful; I went with this small Yamaha practice amp as a compact and affordable starting point. It's absolutely fantastic!! I'm loving the different effects that are built into it, and the volume is way more than enough for practising at home, which is what I'm usually doing. I reckon it would also be loud enough for busking (it can operate on AA batteries as well as AC), although if you're on a stage in a larger venue you'd need probably something bigger. But for my purposes, it's perfect!

A great mini amp suited to acoustic guitars for private use applications in living rooms or bedrooms. The sound quality is very crisp and clear. There is a choice of microphone emulation to simulate mic-ing up your acoustic guitar. The signal from this mini amp can be fed into a PA or a mixing desk using the Phones output socket. This amp is not really suitable for rock electric guitar sounds like crunch and distortion. The Yamaha THR5 is more suitable for this purpose.
