Could not recommend ear syringing from…

Could not recommend ear syringing from maple leaf clinc my doctors surgery checked prior to getting this done that there was no ear infection and prescribed me ear drops as my ear was blocked and said if this does not unblock my ears I would need to get them syringed when I spoke to the lady at maple leaf she said not to continue with these drops before my appointment and to only use olive oil which I followed her advise so for the lady to say I continued to use them is a lie after having my ears syringed within a hour of leaving the appointment my face started to swell up on the side that the lady did my ear and a further 24 hours after I ended up with a really bad ear infection and Salivary gland infection and had to visit my walk in centre and GP several times to sort this out as I was in a lot of pain after I did not go back to maple leaf as the lady was aware I was a nervous patient and did not trust them any longer especially with covid about and I did not appreciate the lady calling me after leaving a honest review yesterday as she did not like my review and said it affects her business

Dear Mr Lewis, following your review yesterday I would like to thank you for speaking to me on the phone earlier today. We are sorry that you are dissatisfied by the service provided. It’s unfortunate that you did not call us to discuss the above problem at the time of your appointment in mid November 2020 and have decided to comment now over 5 months later. If you had called we could have explained that the procedure itself would not be the cause of an ear infection. As you stated on the phone this morning, you developed an infection less than 24 hours after your appointment, so this cannot be due to ear irrigation.

You also confirmed on the phone to me today and as I had documented in my records you had used sodium bicarbonate ear drops prior to your appointment. The advice we give on booking your appointment, which we also reiterate on a further phone call prior to your appointment is that sodium bicarbonate must never be administered into your ears as it can cause severe excoriation and damage leading to infection. Olive oil only should ever be used. Despite this advice you continued to use it. I would also like to add it is not possible for an ear infection to pass to the salivary glands. The tips we use during ear irrigation are single use, sterile when opened and discarded after each procedure. Our machines are thoroughly cleaned as per guidelines between each client. We allow time between each client to ensure infection control requirements are met.

Ear wax is a natural defence against infection and also acts as a cleanser, once removed it can make you more prone to ear infections. On the phone today you confirmed you had developed an infection in your salivary glands which would have caused your face to swell, anatomically this cannot be caused from an ear infection. I suspect you had an infection brewing at the time of your appointment or as a result of applying caustic sodium bicarbonate to your ears.

Glad to hear you are now fully recovered.

Have used this pharmacy for years

Have used this pharmacy for years and have always been impressed with them especially their very knowledgeable pharmacists So i was very disappointed when I recently visited to buy some hand gel for my elderly mother. The shelves were empty which was no surprise due to people panic buying because of the Coronavirus so I asked the girl behind the counter who told me they had a small bottle which would cost £6 I asked if that was the normal price and she replied no that it was higher due to the demand for hand gel. The competition and markets authority have recently warned retailers not to exploit fears about the virus by dramatically increasing the price of such items. Some elderly or vulnerable people might not be able to afford this. Shame on you maple leaf.

Great Acupuncture Clinic

I have received acupuncture therapy from Mandy Pitts at The Maple Leaf Acupuncture Clinic for the last few months and am so pleased at how much it has helped me.

Mandy is very knowledgable, professional and personable and takes the time to really understand the best way that acupuncture can help you, with every session tailored to your individual needs and requirements.

I have never had this type of treatment before and tried it as Mandy was recommended to me by two people that had received treatment at the Clinic before. I was sceptical at first but was happy to keep an open mind about the therapy and I have been delighted with the results and how much it has improved my health as quickly as it has.

I look forward to further ‘top up’ sessions and can not recommend Mandy enough.
