fun & helpful
The free wedding website was fun and helpful especially because we were planning a wedding that included guests to travel internationally and did not speak the local language

I'm a British photographer living and working in the Dordogne, My main customers are English speaking couples coming form all over the world for their weddings. I'm writing this in English in the hope any other English speaking photographers will not waste their money on this platform.
I wanted to expend my season, and as my wife and I speak French we looked at mariages.net as a way to tap into the French wedding market.
After speaking with an advisor we were persuaded to take out a years premium membership at nearly €150 euros per month.
After nearly 5 months I've had 18 enquiries, no bookings and only 2 couples have responded after sending them details about my services.
The problem - mariages.net is a platform to race down the plug hole on prices. Your competition on this site are mainly amateur photographers who are happy to have a race to be the cheapest offering and it seems the French customers are more concerned with choosing the cheapest option rather than choosing the options that will do a great job and deliver amazing wedding photographs.
Some of the photos I've seen on profiles of photographers are laughable, honestly mariages.net should set up some kind of standard to which anyone wishing to advertise has to adhere to, and show qualifications and/or accreditations from organisations that test and standardise the quality wedding photographers should be delivering to their clients.
If you're a pro photographer who charges a reasonable price for the great work you deliver, don't bother with mariages.net, you may as well throw your money down the toilet.
