I had an awful Terrible Staff Response – Left Stranded and Ignoredexperience at Marriott…

I had an awful experience at Marriott Waltham Abbey. My jacket — containing my keys, wallet and ID — went missing during an event. Staff repeatedly told me it “wasn’t here,” dismissed my distress, refused to check CCTV even after I provided a police reference, and offered no help at all. I was effectively forced to leave the hotel stranded with no money or ID, and had to pay for an Uber home and an emergency locksmith at 1:30am.

Only after all of this did the hotel call at 2am to say the jacket had suddenly been “found,” with no explanation or apology. The next day, no one returned my calls despite me chasing repeatedly. Three weeks later, the hotel sent a dismissive response and closed the matter without investigating. To make things worse, someone attempted to use my bank card details shortly after the incident.

A complete failure of care, responsibility and basic professionalism. I strongly advise avoiding this hotel.

Hotel was full when we booked

Booked a hotel on points through the Marriot website for my wife and two children. When they arrived at the hotel they were told the hotel was already full. We don't have sufficient points balance to book another hotel in the area, so now we have to pay... not sure what the point of loyalty is if we end up in this situation, and why the hotel aren't able to remedy it... I'll be earning points with Hilton in future. Poor.

Hotel booking was at Residence Inn Harrisburg Hershey

Routinely overbooked

Our excellent travel agent booked us into the Westin Wall Centre at Vancouver Airport for the night prior to our flight home. We arrived to check in at 6.30pm to be told that they didn't have a room for us and intended to put us in a taxi to send us to their 'sister' hotel in Downtown Vancouver (about a 40 minute drive or over an hour in the rush hour). The manager informed us that the Marriot routinely overbook and rely on having a number of 'no shows'. Sadly not the day we arrived. After insisting that we remained near the airport we were booked into an excellent alternative (The Versante) and taken directly there in the hotel shuttle bus.

Marriot Membership

I was looking at room rates through the Marriot app and applied for membership. When I went back to the room rates they had put them all up. These boys would mug your grannny if they could.

Outstanding Help from Ridwan

Ridwan at London Heathrow Marriott was incredibly helpful. I was struggling with my two kids, and he went above and beyond to assist me. Words can’t fully describe the level of support and kindness he showed — truly outstanding service.

Springhill Marriot

Springhill Marriot. PEABODY, MA. Worst room care I ever experienced: Did not clean up room at all during 2 night stay. Waste basket in bathroom wasn't emptied; coffee pot over ran cup and spilled - wasn't cleaned, coffee packets /cups weren't refilled, 1 tiny bar of soap and 3 towels for 4 adults. Had to ask for clean towels/sheets (for trundle) which were left piled on coffee table, not placed in bathroom or on bed. Daytime front desk staff were helpful and courteous; housekeeping dropped the ball.

Rare Customer-Centered Company

I'm a Marriott rewards member. So, I've been a loyal customer for many years and I've obviously spent a great deal of money with Marriott. They live up to their name. Recently, I was charged a cancelation fee by one of their hotels although I canceled within 24 hours. It's at the hotel's discretion to charge this fee. Well, due to unforeseen medical expenses, I could not afford to just give away free money (I don't even think Warren Buffett is happy with giving away free money). So, I contacted the corporate office. The Marriott rep who responded was so empathetic and understanding. She/He opened a case for me (707404050) and said they'd make sure to contact the hotel to take care of it. I really didn't think I'd hear anything back from them anytime soon. However, to my surprise, the issue was addressed and taken care of promptly. I will continue to be a loyal customer to a company like Marriott who truly cares about their customers. Of course, I don't expect every single Marriott I visit to be perfect. On average, they are a customer-centered, hospitality-focused company and that's all anyone should ask for.

I have stayed at The Marriott…

I have stayed at The Marriott Riverfront in Bradenton many times it has always been wonderful..until this time. First my room was dirty. The bathtub had not been cleaned. There were 2 dead roaches on the floor.. then came a problem with my reservation. I checked in on Saturday, paid for 2 nights. Twice I was called by the Front desk to ask what time I was checking out after one night.
My key was locked out on Sunday when I had paid through Monday. I explained and showed them my credit card showing I was charged 585 dollars. I was told that could be for one night because their prices change daily. It was just a really bad experience while trying to visit with family. The staff just is not the same..
The garbage cans outside were overflowing

Just Okay

I feel like the Marriot has gone down hill. I used to look to stay there, rooms were always clean, workers were friendly, it was nice. I've had two stays now that were just okay. One room didn't have any towels, and the second time they gave me the key to a room that someone was clearly staying in. Thankfully no one was "home" when I walked in but that could have been embarrassing!! :D Both times they fixed it right away but I feel like service used to be better. Maybe I'll try a Hilton next time...

Incompetent and outdated

Unacceptable service at the Marriott Frankfurt. No USB charging available in any of the rooms and staff twice provided me with equipment that was faulty or incorrect for the application. Air con was faulty and unacceptable. Service desk did not promptly answer calls after 10pm, putting me on indefinite hold and cutting off before answering. In addition, no milk for coffee, no complimentary toiletries in the room, one lousy tissue box. All for 350 Euros a night ffs. I will be withholding cc payment.

Remember to take bags of cash, they will rob you.

Booked a room at Marriot Junction 5 on the M4 through Booking.com and was informed the charge would be £52. Discovered two days later that they had taken £84.15 and not £52.
But the real clincher to demonstrate the dishonesty of Marriot was their demand of another £50 when I checked in.
Clearly not to be trusted!
When you add in another charge of £19.50 to park your car it is beyond doubt that Marriot are robbers.
The check in procedure took the best part of twenty minutes fiddling about with a computer system which appears to have been designed in the fifties.
My advice is to avoid Marriot in all of tis guises.
