Marriott vacation club is very interesting. You cannot stay at all Marriott locations. You’re really not staying out of a hotel. It’s more like a timeshare. On your trips they will tell you you are required to attend their sales pitch to get usually some type of voucher for a meal or whatever else. Be prepared because these sales meetings are a literal shakedown. My father has been a married Club member for years. Honestly over a decade. We were able to go to an event where we were given tickets to see Elton John and stay out of Marriott in San Diego. They were furious when they realise my boyfriend and I were not the owners of the Marriott vacation club account. We are both adults but don’t have money for something like that. Once they realise we were not the decisionmaker on the account they had me call my father in their office to then attempt to shake him down. When they realise it wasn’t going to work with him they then financially shamed us for not being able to pay 5 to $15,000. When you try to cancel your vacation Club they make it borderline impossible. My father had a stroke and is no longer able to travel. That means nothing to them. They would much rather your family and encourage a generational debt from their mediocre establishment. The beds are shit. The sales team are true trolls and God forbid if you or a family member ever want to get out of it you won’t be able to. Not for nothing they’re also stopping the natural migration while they’re building a resort in Africa and physically shooing animals away. Do not give your money to places like Marriott it’s not worth it.

Marriott Vacation Worldwide has been an extremely disappointing experience for me. The sales presentation was misleading, and many of the promises made by the sales staff have not aligned with reality. Despite booking well in advance, it has been consistently difficult to secure reservations at desirable resorts or during high-demand seasons.
Additionally, Marriott does not offer a buy-back option for points, which makes selling or exiting the timeshare very challenging. Overall, the program has not delivered the value or flexibility that was represented to me.
I am deeply dissatisfied, and I feel it’s important for others to be aware of these issues before making a purchase.

Marriott Vacation Club encourages owners to go into foreclosure as a solution! I contacted financial services and asked to reach some form of mutual agreement to terminate the contract we have, and they told me to try selling it (which is extremely difficult/requires a lot of cost on our end and MVC knows this) or to FORECLOSE on it. What company operates like this? They won't accept it back from me but they’ll encourage me to go into default and repossess it after? Why do this? MVC is the worst. Period.

DON'T BELIEVE Marriott Vacation Club promises. Don't go to any of the sales presentations. It is all a SCAM. In their contract they state that anything verbally communicated to during the sales pitch is not legally binding. So, the salesperson can LIE all they want and if you sign the contract you are screwed. These people are the most dishonest businesspeople you will come across. You will regret the decision for the rest of your life!

I recently booked a vacation through Marriott Vacation Club, but after reconsidering, I canceled the arrangement. Despite the cancellation happening promptly and my clear change of decision, Marriott Vacation Club refused to return my down payment. I was passed around with no helpful resolution and left feeling misled and taken advantage of.
This experience has made me seriously question the brand’s customer service and integrity. I’ve always associated Marriott with trust and quality, but this situation showed a very different side. I expected transparency and fairness — instead, I was left frustrated and out the money I put down.
If you’re considering their vacation offerings, be extremely cautious and make sure you fully understand their policies, because they do not seem willing to work with customers in good faith.
THEY REPLIED TO THIS POST AND ASKED ME TO CALL “so we can review your case and see what options may be available.” THEY STILL DID NOT GIVE A REFUND NOR DID THEY OFFER ANY OTHER OPTIONS. SO THE FACT THAT THEY REPLIED TO THE POST MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

We got an offer for a promotional stay in a resort in spain, including a car, for a very good price under the condition that we participate in a 90 minutes sales pitch. During the sales session, they applied the usual marketing methods like offers just for us, for a limited time only and so on. Starting at a ridiculous price they went down quickly with a bunch of special offers and a credit plan that ended in quite reasonable monthly rates. When they asked if we are interested, I just said no. I frankly said that it is not a positive business case for us.
They didn’t like it, but stayed friendly and quickly ended the visit, agreeing that we complied and are eligible for the marketing offer.
if you receive such an offer for a promotional stay, accept it, it can save you huge bucks, but don’t sign.

How proud the team must be to work for a 1.3 star company!!!
Few, if any, vacation companies rank this low but few if any, charge the nonsense money that MVC charge for their weekly so called maintenance fees, and then.....
They have the nerve to charge extra for clean towels during the week!
This company really is without shame about their practices.
Add to that their sales staff who would be well placed with the Gestapo are a nightmare and their financial structure makes me scared.
We are fortunate enough to have bought our weeks with MVC, Spain where the deal is WAY better than the USA, so jjust be warned - this company is CR*P.

I was sold a 5 day 4 night stay in Costa Rica for $199. When they told me the price I was floored thinking it was such a good deal that I’d be dumb to pass it up. Shortly after they called to schedule my stay and then proceeded to tell me that I needed to pay another 599 to get the package and what I had paid was just the deposit. I told them that I was not informed that it was only a deposit and that I didn’t wish to go and found out that they do not have a refund policy even if I had been mislead. I don’t know about anyone else but I for one do not wish to use a company that is ok with their employees exploiting customers. I had to post a review everywhere possible and hopefully the next person they call will not fall for their trap.

Everything about the Marriott Vacation Club (MVC) is just the worst. You’d think dealing with a big name brand like Marriott would mean something, but these guys (MVC) have nothing in common with the Marriott Hotels we know and trust. Instead, they act like a bunch of sleezy bullies who take advantage of the good Marriott name but only care about taking your money and leaving you with the worst product imaginable. They lure you in with some gift cards and trap you in this high-pressure environment where they tell you that there’s a special deal they work out for you, but you have to sign that day. So you end up spending thousands on points only to later find out that they aren’t worth squat...and booking is just impossible for where you want to go...even a year out! Spare yourself the headache and just stick to a hotel or other lodging for any traveling you want to do. Despite our medical conditions, Marriott Vacation Club doesn’t care; they are more than happy to shamelessly wave your contract in your face and hold out their hand for another payment. even though they know our financial situation and we couldn’t even use it if we wanted to. Their customer service is a joke. They’ll tell you there’s nothing to be done about it and treat you like the bad guy for the mess they reeled you into. The whole scheme needs to be shut down! At least Marriott Hotels are still great, very accommodating and pleasant to work with. I’m planning a big family reunion coming up with the hotel side. If only Marriott Vacation Club was more like them!

Marriott Vacation Club is the opposite of transparency. They try to talk you into things without giving you full information.
Booking/cancelling/managing stays is made difficult on purpose. Also, there is intentionally no easy way to compare different resorts (e.g. how many points you need per stay).

Marriott Vacation Club is a rip off! We have been top tier/level "owners" since 2016 but you really "own" nothing. They do not treat you any differently than others, you "own"nothing" yet you pay huge annual maintenance fees on your points values, they tell you at my level I can reserve 13 months in advance but that is NOT true, during COVID when all was shut down, they would not refund or credit my points on an existing reservation from a resort shut down, many properties are tired and run down, and there are multiple other issues regarding reservations and stays. Over a period of time, one can take really nice vacations for the money you shell out in fees annually.

I have always had great experiences with Marriott and Bonvoy for work and travel. So when I decided to join vacation club it was a no brainer for me.
That feeling quickly fell short after I found out the information I was told in Orange County was in fact BS. The sales person said I would get a book of all the places I could use my vacation club, that I could use it at “ANY” Marriott property. You would think that would be true but it was not. In fact they leave out some of the largest Marriott resorts in the US.
I called to have the vacation club directory sent to me that I was told as an owner would arrive with in 30 days, just to be told they don’t send those out.
Then I have spoken to several vacation club employees saying they would help me and they don’t.
You can transfer your points to the next year or you can move them from vacation club to bonvoy at a loss. I have tried to do this 3 times. Twice online and once by phone. They were not completed. Whether it was a glitche in the software or someone just saying whatever they could to get a good customer service rating.
I have tried to talk to Marriott vacation club more times than I can count and each time they put the blame on me not once taking accountability for their employees.
The last time was this past July. When you become a vacation club member their marketing team then tries to upsale you or they will call you offering special promotions. I spoke to this gentleman and explained my daughter has been extremely ill ( main reason I have not been able to use the VC) and I asked if he would move my points to bonvoy so at least I wouldn’t loss 💯 of my points. He was sympathetic and had so much empathy. He made me feel seen and understood.
Well it was never followed through with on his end so I lost another year due to employees either having miss information or deliberately telling me something for the benefit of a sale.
I just got off the phone with vacation club. They again did not take responsibility for their employees. Put everything on me and it was my problem my issue.
The manager I spoke to then said the marketing team was not part of Marriott vacation club and he could do nothing.
He made me feel so unseen. I felt like all Marriott wants to do is take take take. I pay my annual dues every year. I let the previous issues go but this last time just hit me hard. It was so hurtful.
Marriott Vacation Club Shame on you. Shame on Marriott as a whole unit your customer service with vacation club is shameless.
Bonvoy has been amazing but this side of Marriott takes no responsibility and is just plan ruthless.

I'm overwhelmingly disappointed with the poor communication skills and I had an *extremely* unpleasant interaction with two different Marriott Vacation Club representatives when trying to:
1) Check availability to see if changing dates was even a possibility (she said it was not - she would have to CANCEL my reservation, charge me a $75 dollar fee to rebook, and even if the system told her there was availability, there might not actually be???), and
2) Speak to the "Customer Service" rep that the first "transferred" me to, when I only wanted to provide feedback on the negative experience I had with this, because it can't be fun for anyone involved (including them having to deal with customers unhappy with this experience). At this point, not even trying to change the dates anymore, just let them know that this doesn't make sense and it's frustrating.
But now I see that everyone here has had a similar and poor experience, like I have. I trusted Marriott Vacation Club because of the Marriott name - and now, I can't trust Marriott because of this club.

My wife and I have been Marriott Vacation Club owners for several years, and our experience has been marked by consistent misrepresentation, high-pressure tactics, and steadily declining service quality. We were never properly informed that maintenance fees
would increase annually at alarming rates, creating an unexpected financial burden. The sales team pushed us to purchase additional points to reach "Chairman level," promising guaranteed reservations and upgrades, but even at this highest tier, we struggled
to book desired properties despite planning 13 months ahead. We later discovered that full inventory isn't available during the premium booking window, making our expensive upgrade meaningless.
Service quality has deteriorated significantly. Daily housekeeping became weekly "tidy" service, and during our June 2025 stay at Newport Villas, there were no cleaning services at all - we had to exchange dirty towels one-for-one for clean ones. Sales presentations
were particularly problematic, with dismissive treatment when we declined purchases and misleading information about inheritance (children must assume mounting maintenance fees) and resale options (Marriott's "right of first refusal" makes selling nearly impossible).
The combination of deceptive practices, escalating costs, and diminished value has made ownership untenable. We strongly advise potential buyers to thoroughly research alternatives before committing to any timeshare purchase with this company.

We purchased a Marriott Vacation Club timeshare in Las Vegas in October 2018 under extremely deceptive circumstances. During what was supposed to be a brief presentation, we were held for over two hours by salesman "Mo" who threatened us with penalty fees when we tried to leave after explaining we couldn't afford a timeshare. Under this high-pressure coercion, we felt forced to sign up for the cheapest option just to escape.
We were rushed through over 50 pages of paperwork with only brief explanations from the loan officer, never given proper time to review the terms, and were not informed of any cancellation period. The sales presentation showed us luxurious room replicas and led us to believe this was a resale-worthy real estate investment, when in reality the contract contained no resale provisions.
From November 2018 through July 2025, we paid $29,252.34 in principal and interest plus $11,066.87 in annual maintenance fees, property taxes, and club dues. For over $40,000 in payments, we were only able to take 5 short trips totaling 2-5 nights each, proving the promised value was completely false.
As seniors aged 60 and 65 at the time of purchase, we were specifically targeted and exploited through predatory sales tactics. The misleading information, undisclosed terms, and high-pressure environment constitute clear deceptive business practices. We strongly advise others to avoid Marriott Vacation Club timeshare presentations entirely, as they use manipulative tactics to trap customers in financially devastating contracts with little to no actual value delivered.

Marriott doesn’t care for military families. Plain and simple. We have been trying to find a fair resolution for our timeshare that is a burden to manage financially and offers hardly any value. They have been dead set on not working with us by any means necessary, frankly, to the point where I don’t know if they are even allowed to pull the stunts they are trying on us. Regardless, they continue to bully us, and undoubtedly many other military families, without the slightest bit of shame or remorse. Marriott Vacation Club’s conduct is so offensive and heartless it would make your stomach churn. Avoid these guys at all costs.

I guess MVC like to delete negative posts as my one got deleted but like many other fellow reviewers, I feel like I have a moral obligation to warn people against the MVC Vacation Club for the following reasons:
- The points system is deliberately confusing and misleading. It varies depending on whether you have purchased in Asia Pacific versus the US, versus Europe.
- Trying to book anywhere is virtually impossible. They say you can book from a year in advance but when you try to, there is no availability.
- On both of the two times (over the course of 10 years) that we were actually able to book SOMETHING (including a small hotel room for a family of 4 - my other half had to sleep on the floor- which incidentally wiped our 'allowance" across three years for 5 days!), we were hit with very aggressive sales people trying to get us to purchase more points. We were from the outset very firm about not buying anymore, but they kept pushing and pushing. Really uncomfortable.
- trying to cancel membership is incredibly infuriating. Not only because of the small fortune that we shelled out on the false promise that it would be worthwhile after 10 years or so (it totally was not!), but they tried to dissuade us. They booked random trips on random days without our consent. We received multiple threatening letters. We finally managed to get it cancelled after 9 months of repeatedly telling them that we did not want to pursue it, sending two signed forms (that they issued) and finally a complaint to their board.
It's not worth it and while we are sad and feel incredibly stupid to have paid £30k for two mediocre holidays over 10 years, overall im glad to see the back of MVC.
I also think its appalling that they deleted my original post. Not that it would have made any impact on the ratings.
To be honest im not sure how its even legal to operate when its clear that so many people have been misled and missold something. It is actually sad to see so many people so negatively impacted.

A Warning to Future Victims of Marriott Vacation Club
I am writing this review as a desperate warning after falling victim to the most predatory sales tactics I have ever experienced. In July 2022, while staying at Marriott Beach Place Towers in Fort Lauderdale, we were approached with promises of "comping part of our vacation stay" if we attended a "short presentation." What followed was four hours of high-pressure manipulation that has cost us over $20,000 and countless sleepless nights.
Sales representative Jordan Gentile never once used the word "timeshare." Instead, they painted pictures of flexible travel, elite benefits, and a "smart investment that gains value over time." They claimed this was a limited time offer following COVID and insisted we would lose the opportunity if we didn't purchase that day. Under relentless pressure, we crumbled and were rushed through electronic signing without proper explanation of terms.
The promises were all lies. Their website is impossibly difficult to navigate, with no availability for our desired dates even when booking months in advance. Customer service calls go unanswered, and their claims about reselling unused weeks led to us being scammed out of an additional $2,100 by a third-party company. Despite spending over $20,000 on down payments, mortgage payments, and annual fees, we have received exactly zero nights of travel.
We were never told about rescission rights, never informed this was a mortgage, and never warned about rising fees or that our children could inherit this debt. The contract documents were placed on a USB drive we couldn't even access. This "vacation club" has caused nothing but financial strain, emotional frustration, and ongoing anxiety.
Please learn from our mistake and avoid any Marriott Vacation Club presentation at all costs. Don't let them ruin your financial future like they ruined ours.

Misleading Sales Practices at Sheraton/Marriott Sales Center
We experienced severe misrepresentation during our timeshare presentation at the Sheraton/Marriott Sales Center. Multiple critical issues:
False Exclusivity Claims: Sales agents repeatedly stated Marriott resorts were "private, exclusive properties" only for contract holders, which was completely untrue and a major factor in our decision.
Undisclosed Financial Structure: We were never told we were purchasing points through a promissory note rather than obtaining actual real estate. The credit impact was never mentioned, despite being told this was a "sound real estate investment that would
appreciate in value."
High-Pressure Tactics: Three licensed agents created artificial urgency with a "four-hour window" for special pricing. We were actively discouraged from external research or consulting sources like the BBB.
Hidden Costs: Annual maintenance fees increasing 5% indefinitely and passing to heirs was never disclosed. Current cost: $5,371.75/year ($895.30/night) - far exceeding market rates.
Refinancing Lies: We were told banks would refinance without collateral, which was false.
The combination of false statements, omitted crucial information, and intense pressure tactics prevented informed consent. What was marketed as flexible vacation ownership became a significant financial burden.
We strongly recommend avoiding this sales center and conducting thorough independent research before any timeshare purchase. The lack of transparency and deliberate misrepresentation we experienced is unacceptable.

Everything about this company has been a waste of our time and money. After spending more than $80,000 in weeks and points, we have decided to return everything back to Marriott, without getting a single penny back, and they are still coming to get money out of us. It's disgusting! They should be shut down.
