I am a prison officer and wouldn't dream of speaking to the convicted criminals that I converse daily with, in the way that Marsten employees deem it acceptable to talk to their clients.
They need to move with the times and steer away from out-dated bully boy tactics. How dare they feel they have the right to talk to people in that way.

They will try to extort as much money from you as possible

I missed a payment on a payment because they're automated payment was not working on the App , I tries to contact them through they're chat service ,to no avail
I then sent a message through they're complaint system explaining thst I couldn't make payment
I then phoned an agent explaining all the above and I would make payment on my next pay date , who said this was fine , they day before I was going to make payment an enforcement officer knocked on the door asking for full payment plus his 240 fees
These people are criminals trying to extort more money put of people who are genuinely struggling

Why on earth are stockport council…

Why on earth are stockport council using these awful people. They send penalty fines after the deadline date so that the fine is increased. They use shock tactics and wording in their letters to frighten people. I recieved a fine that was 2 years old that I had never heard about before. They said I had, then discovered they had been sending letters to a wrong address. They demanded almost £600 or threatened to remove goods within days. They are disgusting and should be ashamed.

Moronic company lacking common sense

Received an enforcement letter at our address, addressed to another company in a different part of the country.

It was impossible to contact Marston without using a chat system and all the operator could do is say they'd refuse to talk to me because it's to do with a company and an enforcement officer needs to attend to verify the address. No matter what I said I got the same repeated reply. No thank you, no apology.

Beyond frustrating to be falsely threatened via letter, then have an impossible situation wasting my time to try and get their clerical error cleaned up.

Maybe if Marston start receiving invoices for my time spent doing their job would make them pay better attention and seek correct resolutions?

After receiving an letter for a debt…

After receiving an letter for a debt for a previous Tennant of my address I email them to ask what details I needed to send them to prove the the previous tenant didn't live here anymore.

I just got a reply saying we can't find an account with these details. Well if course you didn't because I do not have an account with you as its not my debt.

I literally emailed you to ask what detail I needed to send.

Idiotic company

The bailiff attended my home demanding I let him in!

A bailiff attended my house on Saturday after receiving texts to pay but no letters to my home. He called me being evasive I had to ask several questions to ascertain who he was - only then did disclose who he was whilst demanding I open the front door. He told me all calls are recorded, that I did receive letters and that I have 24hours to pay not knowing my circumstances or mental health. The councils should hang their head in shame using bailiffs on the vulnerable and low paid!

My Marston experience

Marston turned up on my door step on Thursday evening. He was very tall, very dark and very wide. He wore dark glasses and covered his mouth with a mask. He told me who he was then tried to step inside my house. He said, now that he's here I have to let him in (which I did not). He did not have any id or a surname. He said that payment of £100 per month was not enough (I have been paying this for about 6 months now), from now on I have to pay £250 per month, plus his fees of £250 because he had to come to my house. He said I did not have a payment agreement in place. That was a lie. My response was, you have turned up unannounced, there's been no calls, emails or texts or visits, you are outside of the law. Cut a long story short. I told him, gave him a piece of my mind and have not heard from him since. He called himself Michael. And he was a vile, greedy and despicable person and he took it upon his own head to come to try and rob me.

I informed agents of London Borough of…

I informed agents of London Borough of Waltham Forest that my car was cloned, that I lived 270 miles away. I provided pictures of my car and a police reference number (April 2023). I am the victim of crime. Marston Holdings bailiff came on Monday and clamped my car. I was told that the warrant was issued by Hampshire County Court which does not exist. When I checked with my local county court and their fines office they could not find any warrants anywhere. I called police whom promised to send a dispatch unit but never came. Marston are high court bailiffs that can break into property. They refuse to answer my calls and the council keep pretending like they never received my appeal.

If I could give a 0 star

If I could give a 0 star, I would

First time calling the lady on the phone was reading off a script, didn’t listen to a word I had said, and advised me to call back.
3 times she advised this and wast taking into consideration the nature of my call, just wanted to pass the buck.
I assume it was her clocking off time at 5:30pm

a letter dated 11th September, only landed on my door mat on the 17th, stating “if no response is received within 7 days”

Now, after a second call, I was advised that my original email on the 6th August 2025, probably hasn’t been looked at yet, I was shocked as this is a matter that is urgent, and will have catastrophic financial affects on my family, this isn’t what I (or anybody for that matter) want to hear.

Aggressive and misleading staff

I received a letter today to collect a payment made yesterday. I called to advise Marston of this who (before asking why I called) sought to collect personal information to which have no need. I was then told I have to "prove" a payment has been made - despite "proof" being unnecessary I did so. I was then threatened with further action and further cost because Marston do not want to check with their client. The second call handler was aggressive and, provided incorrect and misleading information and again sought to collect personal information. Wholly unacceptable for a debt which has been paid. Case ref K751266 if you care to look into it.

Harassment and threats even though I'm not putting any blockers for them to visit

I'm going to copy and paste exactly what I posted on OVO since it's connected to them :
I have been receiving letters from a 3rd party company called Engage services from Marston Holdings operating on behalf of OVO, that they have been trying to make a visit to my flat to check my meter and I have not agree to it. They do not knock on the door, they just slip a letter through the mail box (including on saturdays) saying they attempted a visit. I have no problems with them visiting, I just need them to reply and book it with me.

When I've sent the email to book it, they booked it for October and continue to send letters saying it is my final notice and they will get a warrant to enter my house. Later they replied to my email saying they have no engineers in my area and I should contact Boost without giving me a phone number, or any info why Boost if my building is with OVO.

They are putting all blockers to not book anything and to not make any visitations.

go directly to the people you owe it too. not marstons.

You shouldn't be worried about these people. Tell them to do one and go directly to the people you owe the money too and contact them.

The bailiffs get paid commission only, so will desperately try everything they can to get you to pay- bullying, intimidating, scare tactics. It's a load of rubbish lol. I laughed down the phone at my bailiff Mr Jeffery who was saying everything he could to try and get me to pay. They'll tell you that if they see your car anywhere on the road they'll seize it. They don't have any right to enter your property unless you agree to let them in so don't worry about them coming in. Luckily we never actually met anyone as we have guard dog signs displayed on our front gates and the bailiff was too scared to actually come to our door lol.

I went directly to the people who I owed the money too and contacted them and spoke to them about how ashamed they should be using Marstons and that I will pay them the fine i owe them directly but will not be paying marstons a penny, let alone the quadrupled bill they've come up with. They let me pay them directly and took the case off Marstons.

"an ethical approach to delivering court order enforcement and corporate debt recovery services whilst treating people fairly" and "award-winning vulnerability strategy". Words from Marstons actual website. How hilarious.

Stand your ground and tell them to F off is my advice haha
