Year 11 maths tutor - outstanding 👏

I am truly thankful for the help and support that Mike gave to my Daughter (J). Mike genuinely cared about my expectations of what J was able to do and achieve. He communicated very well, sharing copies of the work done and the homework given, to assess how J was doing. He also shared them with J so she felt he was there for her, communicating with her directly whilst Mum was also aware of what she had done. He also raised concerns when J wasn't doing the homework or engaging how he expected and we spoke about her own challenges and health issues which helped him to make adjustments. Mike also said he didn't want to take my money if J wasn't going to do what was asked of her. When we explained her situation, he was happy to continue as long as we were happy. Honesty, it's rarely seen nowadays, so it was pleasant to hear it.
J's confidence grew and she felt able to tackle difficult questions that she hadn't understood before. Mike gave time on each area that she wanted or needed to cover, gave trial exam papers to see where her grades were and celebrated her achievements when she not only improved her score but smashed it.
J has neurodiversity traits and Mike was advised as she couldnt hold eye contact and felt that he was able to adapt to suit her needs. Honestly, I couldn't recommend Mike enough. J has continued to do sessions through the holiday season so she is prepped for her exams which she has her last week coming. I wish I could share how amazed I am at her confidence at explaining what she was doing and then able to show me how she did it.
Some children don't keep up with the pace of the classroom. We all learn differently and instead of having the time to recap what was said in class and feeling awkward asking a teacher to repeat what was said, she was able to get the complexity of certain areas of Math and know what to do and how to treat certain equations with the additional tools that Mike gave her.
Js grades have improved and we are hopeful that she has done enough not only to feel good about doing the exam, but making herself proud of her achievements too.
If I could give any parent one bit of advice when your child is struggling to cope or understand and too embarrassed to say anything as they don't want to attract attention to themselves, Mike really will support your child. We did a joint session with me and J first, then J carried on. That also gave her confidence to trust someone who was helping her. So if you want to support your child by either improving grades, or helping them understand those areas they struggle with at school, then you absolutely can't go wrong with this amazing Tutor!
Thank you doesn't seem to be enough, the changes I've seen have been so positive and thank you for being the additional help and support for Js future and for being so personable and not treating either of us as a transaction,
but as someone he genuinely wanted to help and support. We have been lucky to have found you when we did.
Totally 5* review all the way!
