Absolutely archaic and infuriating customer service.
MCAN Mortgage Corporation is stuck in the stone age when it comes to financial transactions. I’ve been trying to pay off my mortgage, only to be told that the only way to settle the final balance is by mailing a certified cheque or bank draft. No wire transfers, no online payments—nothing remotely modern or convenient.
When I questioned this policy, I was told that a wire transfer (one of the most secure financial transactions available) is somehow less secure than physically mailing a piece of paper. In 2025. This is beyond absurd.
For a financial institution to refuse secure, instant electronic payments in favor of a slow, outdated, and riskier method is not just inconvenient—it’s downright incompetent. The lack of flexibility and refusal to accommodate basic, industry-standard transactions speaks volumes about how little MCAN values its clients’ time and security.
If you’re considering working with MCAN, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. There are plenty of mortgage lenders that won’t treat you like you’re living in the 1980s.
