1 - They charged £1098 for a 1-inch rip on the blinds, which we didn’t do or even notice, since the motorhome had much bigger problems on delivery! They dodge any problem in their service while you are fully responsible for any problem they make up. Since they hold your deposit you have no choice.
They charged us £1098 for a 1-inch rip on a window blind (no kidding, I'm still disputing it with the insurance company), that we didn't do or even notice since the motorhome was delivered with much bigger faults.
The battery wouldn't charge up while driving.
One of the beds was broken.
Lost half a day driving to one of their offices and getting it checked, but they didn't fix it or offer compensation.

It was so nice! The Personal is very good and friendly and the camper also. we didn‘t had any complications and we will do it again!!! Thanks and see you soon :)
do not waste your money and time with taht company, be aware they are as bad as it can get!
order a motorhome 10th of Feb 2023 and got a confirmation e-mail.
at the 25th of April i got an email saying that my driver license do not fit the RV weight ( i sent them my driver license before i got the confirmation e-mail and all they had to do is confirm that it fit)
it took them 2.5 month to understand they made a mistake.
in the 2.5 month period of time I already booked flying tickets for my whole family (5 persons), i booked camping parking area, i booked ticket for Europa Park, paid money for a trip coordinator.
In order to solve the issue i offered 2 options:
1. they will get us alternative vehicle that fits my driven license to one out of two pickup destinations, Frankfort or Manheim and refund us for the difference of the renting fee between the original vehicle to the one that they will provide us.
2.Discount my bill in 1300 Euro so I'll upgrade my driven license to C class.
they didn't even bother to reply!!!
i tried to get CEO or operational Manger but customer representative has decline it and didn't want to provide the email adresses.
DO NOT WORK WITH THAT COMPANY!!!!
Rented an RV for two weeks. Upon return the clerk checked the windows and pushed the top berth one out and it broke on the floor. They tried to charge it to us even though we didn’t open it throughout the whole trip, insisted T&Cs allows for that and we must have broken it. In the end settled for somewhere in the middle to get it over with, very poor customer service. Make sure to check everything before leaving when renting there.
Returning the camper at mcrent munchen first indication was all ok.
Then I got complaint of not clean enough return. We did our best to clean as best as we could and delivered camper similar to last year (mcrent Rheine) where all was found OK. After the dispute about the cleanliness we were overrun by a whole team checking camper again and now they claimed to have found 2 windows damaged. We could not find any proof of damage. Coming home I found out that we did not only lose the 1200 euro deposit but even 2 x 1200 euro as it was “damage” on 2 places!!!??!!
I feel robbed, did complain at head office mcrent germamy but for my feeling that did not lead to a decent investigation. Looking at other McRent reciews / complaints there are many more victums of comparable scam. Unbelievable that parent compamy the Erwin Hymer Group (that is what I have inderstood they are) let this happen amd ruin their reputation. I will notify Dutch and German consumer (consumenten bond & ANWB) organzations what happened to us at McRent Germany (Munchen) so they can consider writing about it in their magazines and warning innocent comsumers
This summer (2021) I have rented a camper through McRent in Rovaniemi/Finland to drive from there to northern Norway. The rental was hassle-free and Jan and his wife, who got the vehicle ready for us, were very friendly and helpful (they deserve 5*). Unfortunately, Norway changed their Corona regulations between the time of rental and crossing the country border, so a printed paper "GENESEN" proof was not valid, but a QR code was required. But we wanted to go to Norway and had saved for years to do so. Frustrated, we returned the car after one night. We spoke to the owner of the rental station in Oslo (we asked to be accommodated after all, and that in times of Corona one has to stick together) and after a long back and forth she told us that she could not give us back the money, but could imagine issuing us a voucher. However, we would like to clarify this with the head office in ISNY/Germany. This we did. Mc Rent Germany and also Mc. Rent Finland were very disagreeable. With a total rental price of EUR 3,670, we were only offered a voucher of EUR 150. We would never use Mc Rent again, because the WORD CULIENCE, especially in times of CORONA, is unfortunately a mystery to this company.
Rented for a week from McRent Porto. Vehicle was OK, but always got the feeling I was getting poor value - paying full price for first day starting at 3pm and last day must return by 9:30am ? Half price for each of those would be fair - they get 2 days rent for the same day. Security charge is not a hold on credit card but billed fully ?
Normal car rental does not do that. But on return I was very disappointed to be charged for 'damage' I think (but cannot prove) was present at pickup - I advise hirers to take the extra half hour (even with the late pickup time) to photo the vehicle in excruciating detail at pickup so something overlooked as insignificant does not get identified on return as chargeable damage.
Questions for you: would you pay 3,800 euros for a hotel and then expect to spend a day cleaning the room yourself? And then if you checked out and returned the room early, would you expect to be penalised? Or would you expect to hire a car and then have to clean it inside and out, yourself, whilst still being charged for the time to do so!
But this is exactly what McRent does!
Plus you have to allow $1,000 for hidden fees and charges.
The pickup place is in the middle of nowhere and It cost $120 in a taxi even to get to it (plus $150 on the way back)
I am being blunt because I am still shocked that we paid for a motorhome until Friday 26.07.2019, returned it a day earlier on 25.06.2019 (at 4.10pm a prearranged for 4pm but the office lost the note they made at handover). After an exhausting day of cleaning it and taking it through a carwash (all at time and with our own supplies that we had to buy because not even a broom or sponge was supplied) we realised that we had forgotten to put fuel in. We weren’t allowed to go to the garage 900m away because the staff member wanted to go home at 4.30pm, even though office closed at 5pm! Had to pay an extra $50 euros than ordinary fuel cost. Are you serious?
It gets worse: No one even asked whether we enjoyed our holiday or acknowledged that we’d spent a full day of our hire fee and had booked a hotel so that we could devote a day to cleaning it (wiping out fridge, bathroom, cleaning windows etc).
Motorhome was so badly equipped: we spent 4 weeks in France with mismatching sets for 4 (even though a 6 berth motorhome), had to buy our own mug, teaspoons, frypan, and coffee maker, gas lighter, dustpan and broom (and wine glasses) and dustpan because none were supplied. I wish I was kidding!
Paid $90 euros for a table and chairs but it was wonky and daughter cut her her hand badly on the camping chair). There’d was no washing line (expected to buy one for such a basic necessity). As if I am going to fly from or to Australia with a washing line. Mentioned it one return!
It was a requirement that we clean the van but not even a sponge was provided. Mcrent travel industry with such poor service and the hidden cleaning fee. We have requested a refund of 400 euros for the extra night wasted (because impossible to clean the van before a 10am flight, the full day we lost cleaning it, plus the 50 euros overcharge on fuel) but have headed nothing. Also an apology from the staff for ruining the good memories of our holiday would be nice but we know it will never happen. Just something to think about. Mcrent should not be in the holiday industry with this kind of service...
During our last holiday, we rented a motorhome from Edinburgh branch. The employee were very friendly and helpful.
The motorhome were relatively new, very clean and well maintained.
Unfortunately in the last week of the holiday we had a problem with the board computer were staying for few days without heating.
The company was sending information leaflet, which did not help much.
I am feeling sorry that the company was not offering any compensation for this failure and the bad time, which we were spending without heating.
Thanks good it was not very cold and we solved the problem with buying extra blanket.
I am sure that any compensation from the company side would not affect them much (In relation to the rent price) but would create better atmosphere between the customer and the company for future relation.
Because of this i can not give a five star for this review.
