Meathead Movers: Horrible and Unethical Company!

Horrible Company! They contracted to move my entire home belongings and storage shed for $3000. They refused to come out and verify content stating we don't need to, we go by your square footage. This was in December 2021 - relocating 400 miles away. We paid additional for their packing and boxing service. Scheduled to arrive by 9am, did not show up until mid afternoon because they did not have a truck available in the San Luis Obispo, CA area (a 20 minute drive to my home and the location where the business was started), instead they had to send a truck from Fresno, CA - 3½ hour drive from my home. The packers came the day before and because they underestimated their projected time -- we were stuck and ended up paying nearly twice as much for overtime. The packing team did not notify the moving team that this was a bigger project than estimated. When the movers arrived the next afternoon - their FIRST COMMENT was how come there aren't 2 trucks here?! We had already paid $3000 for the movers. (They would not touch a thing until our full payment was processed). They were only able to load HALF of our things, leaving the Garage and backyard items AND not even getting to our storage unit! I expected them to honor their Contract with us and reminded them that we hid nothing from them and repeatedly asked them to come and check the size of the move--they repeatedly REFUSED. I ended up leaving at ONE AM and drove 400 miles in order to meet them the next day unload the truck and to continue to ask Meathead Movers when they would be sending another truck to finish the move that we had already paid for under contract. We were told that it would cost us another $3000!!! to finish moving the rest of our things because it would have been $6000 to do a 2 truck move. After reminding them of the signed contract and that THEY were the ones who BID the job without assessing it beforehand... We had only 2 more weeks before we no longer had access to our home we were moving from. They gave us 2 options: Hire another company to finish the move or pay them the extra $3000 to finish the move! We were absolutely stuck so "under duress" we paid the additional $3000, less $200 credit they gave us for a nights stay at a hotel. As we began unpacking we discovered numerous broken or damaged antique furniture and lamps - irreplaceable items. One small Queen Anne drop-leaf occasional table was found with the lower 3" of the 2 of the legs broken off on the garage floor where they set it! We filed a grievance with them about their breech of contract with us and filed a damaged property report with very conservative values because what they destroyed was not replaceable. To this day, a year later they refuse to take our calls or respond to messages and have not reimbursed us for the estimated value of the items they destroyed. We thought we were supporting a local mom and pop company that we had used in the past for a different move within the same county that went very well. Well, it appears that the owners, one being Aaron Steed, cares more about being seen at charitable events than running an ETHICAL company. Incomprehensible!
