I had a terrible experience with…
I had a terrible experience with Melanin Estates. I contacted them for help finding a property, and a family friend I spoke with was polite and arranged a viewing. However, she wasn’t aware that the toilet was outside and that the room had mould hidden in the corners.
When a member of their team brought the keys to the room,, I entered and realised how bad the situation actually was, but by then, I had already paid because I trusted them to provide a decent place. I discovered the room had no window, an outdoor toilet, and mould. It was far too small for me and my two children. I immediately told them I couldn’t take it.
They offered an alternative, but that place was just as bad … I was expected to live with two other ladies who also needed to rent , with my room upstairs and my children’s room downstairs. The house was dirty, unsafe, and looked like it could fall apart. I declined again.
For weeks, I moved between cheap lodges and friends’ places while waiting for another option that never came. When I asked for a refund, they refused, saying I had signed a contract, even though I never lived in their property.
It’s been over five months, and they’re still holding on to my £500. For some, that might seem small, but as a single mum surviving solely on my income, that money means a lot.
Melanin Estates, please refund my £500 it’s unfair and unethical to keep payment for a service you didn’t provide.
