This Jewellers was recommended to me. It advertises watch repairs, though this is clearly a minor service provided; their main business is gold bullion and high end watches, heavy chains, etc.
Issues: 1) quality of repair 2) Website isn't up to date - misleading Opening hrs./days. (+ Store sign displays an invalid Tel. No; defunct over 40 yrs. ago! and no valid results with websites displayed on sign) 3) difficult (non)/communication routes.
1) They agreed to fix a new pin in the clasp on my gold watch. When it broke again, after only 8 weeks, it appeared to be the 'original' pin!
It was a £30 repair, which I'm prepared to lose (and start again elsewhere) rather than go back! Their online "Complaints Policy' is blank!
2) Frustratingly, they appear to open and close on an ad hoc basis, with no updates online for the public/their customers. In addition to my trip to collect it, when I spotted the handwritten note advising of their 2 week vacation, I ended up making a further 3 trips after their return to pick my watch up. This was after completing their online form, asking them if they were back, following the 2 wks.; no reply received to this! Finally, after trial and error, I located a contact of the owner(!) and left my mobile; luckily, the owner did ring me via it and I got him to confirm when they would definitely be open, 5 weeks after leaving it with them. (So, the inconvenience of a 1 hr. round trip each attempt!).
I did suggest to him that they clarify their Opening hours online, which states M-F 9am to 6pm and Sat/Sun 10 - 4pm. I'd gone on a Thurs. I subsequently found out, after digging, that they have a separate trading name from same address showing 10-4pm opening, except Thurs/Sun. I and Joe Public shouldn't have to waste time digging! The problem is; they don't remain open even for those hours!
3) Whilst they have the correct landline Tel. No. online, it cuts you off after 21 rings so the public has NO way of contacting them! And wouldn't know to look on the other trading name site.
I don't doubt that the service provided to those selling/exchanging high value goods may well be much better than I encountered, as it'll be more profitable.
