Account closure frenzy

I had a very disappointing experience with Mercury. After going through the entire onboarding process and spending time setting up the account, it was suddenly closed with a generic message about the “nature of our activity,” without any meaningful explanation.

This is actually the second account of ours that Mercury has closed in a similar way. The process of opening the account required time and documentation, only for it to be shut down shortly after with no opportunity to clarify anything.

They also insist on sending the remaining balance via a physical check, which is highly impractical for international founders.

Overall, the experience felt like a waste of time and left a very poor impression. I would be cautious before relying on Mercury for your business banking.

The IO card credit experience being…

The IO card credit experience being tied completely to the current balance is not convenient if we are running tight. It becomes a disincentive to use it.

Mercury Closed My Account and Refused to Provide My Banking Details

My experience with Mercury has been extremely frustrating.

After using the platform for legitimate business purposes, receiving payouts from my Shopify stores and paying suppliers and employees, my account was suddenly closed and my dashboard access was revoked.

The main issue is that Mercury has refused to provide the routing and account numbers for all of my checking accounts and sub-accounts, even though I am the account holder requesting my own banking information.

This has created a serious operational problem for my business. Shopify requires me to confirm my previous bank account details before I can update my payout bank account. Since Mercury removed my access and will not provide these details, I am unable to update my banking information and properly manage my store payouts.

I contacted Mercury directly multiple times, but they did not address this specific issue in their responses. Instead, they repeated that the closure decision was final.

I am simply requesting my own banking details so I can update my payout settings and continue operating my business properly. I hope Mercury resolves this matter promptly.

A perfect fit for my business

A perfect fit for my business. I use Profit First accounting and the ability to create multiple accounts fits perfectly with that. Transfers are free, quick and easy.

It is a wonderful banking app with so many featues which are usually paid in anotehr bankings

i really love it, and i would definitey recommend, i would say its better than Revolut & wise. i used almost 4-5 banks and their features, but none better than mercury..really cooll!!

The protection and service have been awesome. I opened a free personal account with Mercury (because I have a business account) and they paid for my coffee yesterday!! I have been with them for 2 years now and loved it.

Unprofessional sudden account closure

I am a U.S. citizen and founder of multiple U.S.-based LLCs. I recently opened an account and was prepared to deposit $250,000 this week.

Instead of a welcoming onboarding experience, I received a sudden, automated notice that my account would be closed due to my current physical residency in a "high-risk" country. When I contacted support to provide my updated U.S. State ID and proof of my move back to a U.S. residential address, I was met with a generic, robotic refusal. The team would not even review my U.S. documentation or allow a manual appeal.

Mercury appears to be performing a blanket purge of international founders and U.S. expats to satisfy their own regulatory shifts. They are no longer a "founder-friendly" institution; they are a rigid bureaucracy that will fire legitimate customers without a second thought.

I dodged a major bullet by not having my capital in their system when they pulled this. If you are an American founder living or working abroad, do not trust this bank with your capital. They offer zero stability and zero human oversight for compliance issues.

Check deposits is a nightmare

Check deposits is a nightmare. Most of your checks will be rejected. They also don't allow you to print your own checks to pay others.
